It’s 43 and raining in Charlotte as I write this. I’m set up at my desk this afternoon wearing a hoodie and slippers and drinking a mug of Lipton’s new Matcha green tea…with a space heater right next to me. Most of you know that I’m a big tea drinker and I have my mom to thank for that. I don’t think a day goes by that I don’t drink a cup of tea and that turns into 3-4 once the temperatures drop. I love having something warm to hold and sip on.
My favorite times of day to drink tea are early in the morning before I have my coffee, immediately after lunch and anytime in the afternoon and before bed. Early morning I like to drink a detox tea, after lunch I like a ginger tea to help with digestion, afternoons call for a caffeinated option like green tea, black tea or Matcha tea and evenings are for an herbal relaxation blend.
I have a new tea to add to my collection (my tea cabinet has no less than 100 tea bags right now…Tanner thinks I’m crazy!). I just learned that Lipton is now making a new Magnificent Matcha Green Tea.
It’s available for purchase at your local Walmart or online at Walmart.com. I picked up two boxes of it while I was there on Saturday stocking up on things for the house. (I can never resist getting a dog toy for the girls while I’m at Walmart…it was a $5 hedgehog this time and they love it.)
Lipton’s Matcha Green Tea is available in three flavors – Pure, Mint and Ginger and at under $3 per box with 15 tea bags in each box, it’s a great value. It’s also worth noting that the ginger and mint blends have no added flavors, the ingredients are just green tea, Matcha and ginger root or real peppermint and spearmint leaves.
Here’s some additional information on Matcha and its history, how it’s made and the benefits of drinking it.
- Legend has it that Buddhist monks used Matcha to enhance their focus for long hours of meditation, and to be alert and present in the moment.
- Today’s Matcha leaf comes from shade grown green tea whose chlorophyll-rich leaves are finely ground into a brilliant green powder, prized for its abilities.
- Lipton’s Matcha Green Tea blends are made with 100% natural Rainforest Alliance certified tea leaves and Matcha powder.
- As far as flavor is concerned, this is a refreshing and easy to drink tea with a smooth and mellow finish.
One of the unique things about Lipton’s new Matcha Green Tea is that it’s packaged in tea bags and is blended with green tea…so you get the benefits of Matcha and green tea all in one tea bag! In the past I’ve always used Matcha powder when drinking Matcha tea and having it in a tea bag much easier alternative.
The tea is packaged in heat sealed enveloped containing pyramid tea bags. I like to keep a few tea bags in my purse and gym bag so this gives me a great on-the-go Matcha option.
I know this tea is going to be a new go-to option in my afternoon pick me up rotation. It will give me that little kick of energy I need to power through my to do list. 🙂 I’ve purchased the Pure Matcha and the Matcha with Ginger. I have tried them both and they get my stamp of approval. I know my fellow tea lovers are going to enjoy this new Matcha and green tea blend from Lipton! Pick some up next time you’re at Walmart or order it online.
Let me hear from my fellow tea lovers! When do you drink tea and what are your favorite types of tea to drink throughout the day?
Do you have an afternoon pick me up routine?
I drink tea all the time and I have a bursting tea cabinet as well! My favorite teas right now are green tea and the Tazo Joy tea, which tastes like the holidays in a cup!
The mint one is awesome too. Plain matcha is a little too earthy for me but I am loving these mixtures!
Thank you for sharing! I can’t wait to try them. I drink tea 1-3 times a day. Green teas are my fav. I too love holding on to a warm cup. It’s like a best comforting friend! Especially on days like today when we get 4 inches of snow.
I LOVE tea!! Green tea, matcha, herbal, genmaicha… My boyfriend recently introduced me to Harney & Sons and I am obsessed with their “Paris” blend. Definitely a splurge but sometimes us tea aficianados gotta do it 😉 I’ll definitely be trying this tea sometime!
Oh wow matcha in a tea bag? How cool I’ll have to pick some up! Tea addict here as well. The turmeric ginger tea from trader joe’s is a new favorite
I am obsessed with tea, especially this time of year! I love to drink a cup of tea at around 10-11 am prior to lunch. And then I always follow up with a cup of tea after lunch. I will then typically have 2-3 more cups (decaffeinated) in the afternoon. I am obsessed. I love my green and black teas! I also just tried this pumpkin spice rooibos tea from Trader Joes and it was divine! I will have to try these from Lipton!
Hi Jen, I drink a lot of tea and recently switched to a tea maker. We have some stores that offer a terrific selection of fresh teas – it tastes different then tea in bags and you’re able to mix it all up according to your mood (a bit like your smoothies). I still enjoy tea bags though – at work especially.
Tea drinker here! I love almost any black or earl grey style tea. I also like chai for something different once in a while. I usually have a few boxes stashed away in my desk at work. For some reason, I really don’t like the taste of green tea so that’s one style I never drink.
I really love iced tea, Lipton is actually my favorite brand to use to make that. I bought an iced tea maker a few years ago and we have it brewing pretty much every weekend! I’ve gotten my husband into the iced tea love as well.
