Happy Friday! It’s been a great day for me so far. The weather in Charlotte has been so beautiful the past few days. Warm but low humidity and cool nights. Wish I had time to enjoy it poolside but for now runs and eating outside will have to suffice.
Breakfast was one of my favorite combinations – salted peanut butter, pumpkin butter and honey with banana on toast.
I get asked all the time what my favorite peanut butter is. My go-to simple favorite is Trader Joe’s Salted Peanut Butter. I like the crunchy and creamy variations. The texture of this peanut butter is great and it’s easily spreadable and drizzleable (I’m aware I just made that word up). The salty peanut butter mixed with the sweet pumpkin butter is an amazing mix.
While we’re on the “butter” topic, has anyone tried the Trader Joe’s Cookie Butter? One of my friends gave this jar to me as a present at yoga Wednesday and I love him and hate him for it all at the same time. Nothing about it is nutritious (at all) but it’s so good. I’ve yet to actually spread it on anything, I can’t stop eating it straight out of the jar.
The food just keeps getting better. Lunch today was a create your own salad at Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar. I went with spinach, avocado, corn, tomatoes, walnuts and apples with a black bean burger. The black bean burgers are incredible. I think this is mostly attributed to the fact that they are deep fried.
Go big or go home. An order of Bad Daddy’s ridiculously addictive tots with their special sauce. Devoured.
And now I’m off to do the 5:30 CrossFit class. It should be a fun way to wind down this Friday. It’s a crazy tabata workout. Tabata workouts are where you go full intensity for 20 seconds and then rest for 10 seconds, 8 rounds through. Here’s today’s WOD:
“Tabata Something Else”
Box Jumps (24/20”)
Pull Ups
AbMat Sit Ups
Cal Row
Note: Score is total reps (cals = reps). You will do all 8 rounds of each movement before moving onto the next movement. There is no rest between.
Hope your Friday has been good too!
Trader Joe’s has THE best peanut butter! I love their unsalted organic chunky! Have a wonderful weekend! 🙂
That cookie butter is dangerous!!! I think it’s best straight from the jar, but also good with pretzels and on apple slices.
I love cookie butter! It is addicting though so I rarely ever buy it.
I’m just like you with the cookie butter! I haven’t put it on anything; just on my finger or on a knife. I feel like one spoonful is dessert. 🙂
I am jealous that you all get to enjoy the cookie butter..but also kind of glad it has gluten because I cannot for the life of me keep jars of PB in the house..it is too easy for me to eat by the spoonful! Thankfully, I am content with Justin’s PB packets which are amazing! I am gluten and lactose intolerant (since age 9!) and workout but also find my digestive system in general to despise me. I can only eat veggies at night and let them digest before morning runs. Do you ever find your stomach upset during workouts? What do you do? Do any foods hurt your stomach since you workout so much? I like that I am in tune with my body and don’t “cheat” with foods that make me have to stay home all day like I did during my teenage years but socially it sucks and a lot of people think it’s part of the “fad.” Do you have thoughts on food intolerances or any experiences/client stories? Thanks, Jen! Congrats on all your successes with your career and new gym opening! 🙂
I keep hearing about this amazing cookie butter but am no where near a Trader Joes … thank goodness 😉
consider this a blessing. ha!
I was in Charlotte last fall and went to Bad Daddy’s. Such a good salad!
pumpkin butter? oh man, I need to find that!
I found that cookie butter in Paris last week and could not get enough of it!!! I had no idea I could get it at TJ! I ate it on vacation as a treat but now I’m thinking I need to make a TJ’s trip!
I need a TJ’s in my life. I can’t wait until I go to the states next to stock up on goodies! I always hear the best things about it. I got to try that tabata workout! I love tabata, its my favourite at the moment
I have a jar of the cookie butter, too! I did the same thing, and started eating it out of the jar, but I keep trying to think of a recipe for it. I’m thinking granola might be a good idea…
It is so funny that you mention the cookie butter because I bought it a few weeks ago and I was going to ask you if you had ever tried it. I also ate mine out of the jar (it’s gone now). It’s so addicting that I’m afraid to buy it again!
