It’s time for my third annual holiday gift guide! Every year I pull together tons of great gift ideas for you into ONE POST (not stretching this out into multiple posts!) to help you find ideas and inspiration for almost everyone on your list.
I think this year is my best gift guide yet with well over 100 gift suggestions for you. I won’t even tell you how much time I spent scouring the internet so that you don’t have to but be warned…you might be tempted to do a little shopping for yourself too! Please note that there are affiliate links in this post. It does not change the price of the item for you but I do earn a small commission from the sale. This would also be a great time to say that I really, really appreciate your support…more than you know.
So grab a glass of eggnog (holiday shopping is way more fun with a cocktail) and let’s go!
2018 HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE
HOME
A diffuser with essential oils is a nice switch from candles, and much longer lasting. If you do want to gift someone a candle, this is my all-time favorite brand and I adore this scent. A friend gave me a West Elm blanket similar to this one over five years ago and I still use it daily and get tons of requests for details on it. It’s fashionable draped over chairs/sofas and very cozy.
While we’re on the topic of cozy, nice sheets and towels are a great way to add a little luxury to someone’s every day, and I love the pearl embroidery on these. Also, having a body pillow has kind of been life-changing as a side sleeper. It is definitely still living in my bed post-pregnancy. This bath tray (can’t beat the wine glass holder with this one!) is a great pick for someone who loves baths and you could pair it with the towels or some bath salts.
Add some class to their tablescape with a monogramed carafe or a dramatic wine decanter. This cheese board is also gorgeous and I cannot get over these wood serving boards. I am thinking about ordering one of these fruit bowls for myself. And how amazing is this mason jar indoor herb garden?
Finally, I’m a big fan of photo gifts. I think photo art is a great way to mix it up from the standard framed print. I also love doing custom photo calendars for my family!
KITCHEN
A friend recently introduced me to the sous vide and it’s an amazing tool for the kitchen that doesn’t take up much space. My dad has one on his Christmas list! Speaking of things my dad loves, I gave him a Nespresso a few years ago and he still enjoys a daily afternoon cup! If you’ve got a water-guzzler or La Croix lover on your list, check out the Soda Stream for at-home fizzy water.
A pretty electric kettle is a good choice for tea lovers. And while we’re talking about tea, this chai tea concentrate looks yummy and how fun is this bubble tea kit? Oh and home brewing kombucha is all the rage these days.
One of my kitchen MUST HAVES is my thermapen. It’s an instant read digital thermometer and I use mine for everything from cooking meat to baking bread to heating water for coffee.
It seems the Instant Pot isn’t going anywhere. I’ve also been hearing a ton about air fryers lately. I think that magnetic knife strips are such a fun way to display knives (and to let your guests know not to mess with you when you’re in the kitchen…haha). Beautiful serving bowls and baking dishes also make for great gifts.
The Joy of Cooking is like my kitchen bible and I’m dying over these leather bound editions. This is a fun gift for avocado lovers. And finally, a gift subscription to a meal kit service like Blue Apron or Purple Carrot (for your vegan friends) is a nice gift. I’ve also read a lot of positive things about Butcher Box for grass-fed/free-range/GMO-free meat deliveries.
TECHNOLOGY
I treated myself to Airpods recently and they are ah-mazing. I love that they charge in the case and have great sound quality for phone conversations. Another accessory to love for your smart phone is external photo lenses. A great gift for your photography loving friends.
I’ve got the Sonos One speaker on my Christmas list. It’s Alexa-enabled and has great sound. It will be a great upgrade from the music I’ve been playing from my Echo Dot (I’ll move my dot from the kitchen to my bathroom). My mom uses bluetooth headphones at night to watch TV because my dad goes to bed super early because of his work schedule. This is a great option for anyone in the same boat or with kids you don’t want to wake up!
I love my Roku streaming stick! It gives me instant access to tons of entertainment options. This bluetooth tracking tag can help you find anything from your keys to your wallet to the remote. External, portable chargers are a lifesaver for charging your phone when you’re away from your wall charger (think travel, hiking, conferences, etc). This one can fully charge your phone three times before you have to recharge it!
A few ideas for home gadgets…how about a shower head with a bluetooth speaker built in. You read that right! Electric toothbrushes are a must these days and help tremendously with getting good dentist reports. And finally, the Amazon smart plug works with Alexa so you can voice activate fans, lights, appliances, etc and also set them to schedules!
HIM
Is it just me or do you see guys walking around with Blender Bottles all the time? Here’s a stainless steel version that’s a nice upgrade from the plastic ones. This YETI cooler is sure to be a win. He can enjoy comfortable seating anywhere from sporting events to campsites to concerts with this compact, portable chair.
Slippers aren’t just a good gift for the ladies! I’m personally a big fan of puffy vests for men and women. Lululemon Pace Breaker shorts have been a win with any guy that I have gifted them to (my dad included!).
Craft beer still having its moment so you could do some sort of subscription sampler or a local brewery/beer tour. A good bottle of his favorite liquor with a fancy decanter would also make for a nice gift.
The Apple Watch is an awesome present, especially with a leather band. If he already has an Apple Watch, the leather band is baller!
HER
Because most of us can agree that one of the highlights of the day is getting into our pajamas, these Nordstrom PJs are my #1 pick for two years running and I need this tapered pant/pullover shirt version ASAP. I have also been a longtime fan of Soma PJs (they are so so soft) and these patterned/graphic PJs are pretty cute too.
This cozy fleece pullover is on my Christmas list. I also love this fleece wrap cardigan. I recently added this sweater/poncho from Lululemon to my wardrobe and every time I wear it I get so many compliments on it. This wrap from Athleta is a staple for me too. I am a firm believer that every girl needs to experience the amazingness of Lululemon’s Align crops or pants. Their new joggers are also fabulous. And to add a little interest to the leggings look, try a shiny pair.
I don’t know about you but I always feel like I need to replace my slippers every year or two. These look comfy. I feel that heavy robes are winter go-to gifts but I’m a big fan of lightweight, shorter robes.
When it comes to accessories, these tiny heart studs are on my list. A scarf is always a good choice. Erin McDermott Jewelry has tons of cute options and if you want to go the custom route, I wear my gold bar necklace every day and never take it off.
Last few ides here…a copy of Michelle Obama’s new book, Becoming. These are my favorite tweezers for 10+ years running. Up your Ugg game with wedge boots. And I firmly believe EVERYONE needs a Corkcicle wine glass or one of these fun champagne flutes. Word on the street at VIDA Yoga is that this Corkcicle can hold a whole bottle of wine!
EXPERIENCES
I am a huge fan of experience gifts! My favorite ideas for this year are a National Parks Pass…such a great option for everyone from families to retirees. A trip/weekend away is always lovely. You can do tickets to a play or concert. You could also give them something like a cooking class, art classes or music classes, depending on what they’re into.
Two ideas for adding a little more zen in their life would be a year-long subscription to a meditation app or a massage. Did you know that there are massage services that will send a therapist to your house now!? That is awesome.
FOR FUN
Jump on the eco-friendly straw bandwagon with these straws. Everyone needs a Sriracha key chain in their life. Fuzzy socks feel great on cold winter days. Games and puzzles are a good gift and can make family holiday gatherings much more enjoyable. Ancestory DNA or 23andMe make for a creative and interesting gift. Oh, and how about a squatty potty.
FITNESS
For the crew that loves to sweat, here are my top picks.
I am forever losing my water bottles so I always love getting new ones. This 32 ouncer has been keeping me hydrated lately. Compression socks are wonderful for your long-distance runners. They can wear them during the run or after to help with recovery. Speaking of running, my Zero2Run e-book is a great option if there is someone on your list looking to get into running in 2019!
I think everyone needs a reflective vest and a headlamp if they’re going to be exercising outside in the early morning or evening darkness. Adjustable dumbbells and a kettlebell make at-home workouts a breeze. Running gloves are another one of those things that you can always use a new pair of because they seem to disappear.
I am LOVING the new Manduka GRP mat. It’s Manduka’s answer to the Lululemon non-slip mat and it’s wonderful. It’s got the feel of my favorite Manduka Pro mat but with the non-slip technology. When it comes to the yogis on your list, a subscription to YogaGlo would make home and travel practices so much better. You can also give them a class pass to their favorite studio.
Other fitness ideas I have are a yearlong subscription to the Aaptiv app or something like Les Mills on Demand. The Fitbit Versa is getting rave reviews. Personal training sessions are a great choice for those with specific goals or just looking to get into fitness.
TRAVEL
The next time I need a new piece of luggage, I’m trying Away! My current favorite suitcase is a hardshell spinner and I am obsessed. The Away line looks awesome for the price. Related, packing cubes are game changers for organizing and fitting more into your luggage.
If you’re looking for a versatile, functional backpack, I am hooked on this one from Under Armour. I use it for a work bag, travel bag, diaper bag…everything! It’s got a good number of compartments, generously sized water bottle pockets, a laptop sleeve and more.
I never travel without my Lululemon Vinyasa Scarf. It can double as a pillow, blanket, nursing cover, etc. It’s very versatile!
TSA Pre-Check or Global Entry would be a creative gift for someone who does a lot of traveling! Oh and how about some sanitizing wipes as a stocking stuffer?
FURRY FAM
You’ve got to get a gift for your pups! The Petcube lets you check in on your pets from wherever you might be. It’s an interactive pet camera that lets you see, talk,
and entertain your pet on-the-go. They even make a version that dispenses treats.
Does your dog drive you crazy with their squeaking? These dog toys have silent squeakers that only the dog can hear. They would also love a BarkBox subscription!
Your cat definitely needs a heated cat bed. Heck, I’ll take a heated bed like this!
This is a great water bottle/bowl combo for travel, long walks, hikes, etc.
Whew, okay. I hope that was helpful! Please comment below if you have any other creative, fun, unique, must-have ideas to add to the list! 🙂
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Jen, ah-amazing list. I love your ideas from the West Elm blanket to the mason jar herb garden to the meditation apps, Soma PJs, and Michelle Obama’s new book. I am definitely using your suggestions. Thanks for all the effort you took to put this list together. It was really fun to read. I can’t wait to start shopping!!! Btw, I bought your yoga inversion book to add to my plank workouts. It’s fantastic.
Love my planks workout book!
I workout to it every day, Casey. So cool you are in on it too.
❤️?
So happy to hear this ladies!!! 🙂
Thank you Natasha! And thanks for checking out my yoga book. 🙂
I would really like to see on HEALTHY LIVING blogger’s wish lists more environmental friendly things. “Sous-vide”, “Nespresso”, “Blue Apron”, etc. just so much waste. More experiences, less stuff. We are in 2018, almost 2019, we cannot continue this way, and you guys are examples for people, take action. Look for #zerowaste actions.
Thank you for the honest feedback and for the suggestions.
Such a great list! My family doesn’t do a lot of gifts for adults, so most of the people on my list are kiddos. But I might need to gift myself a new pair of PJs and slippers 🙂
Thanks Amanda! And one can never go wrong with treating yourself to PJs!
Great gift ideas! I was thinking of asking for the Apple AirPods for Christmas; however, I am afraid they will fall out of my ears while running. Have you gone on long runs with them in your ears? Do they fall out? I am afraid I’ll lose them or will be constantly adjusting them on my runs. Would love your thoughts! Thank you!
I haven’t had a problem with them and I’ve used them for running, gym and yoga!
Jen, thank you from my heart for the list. It’s wonderful. I found several gifts that I purchased through this.. Especially for the ones that I was like”they have everything”.. One that I got for myself I’m Most excited about because I stopped going to the gym years ago and started working out at home which had been great but I have truly missed the body pump class from the gym..I had NO idea LM had on demand!!! Did my first BP in years yesterday Al’s LOVED it. The music is still in my head and I love that it’s an instructor based program. No thinking on my part just doing! And $12.99/mo who wouldn’t???? I also purchased the Michelle Obama book, West elm blanket and I tried the fruit bowl but it’s back ordered. But you’re wonderful! Hugs and kisses to Finn!! Merry Christmas I hope it’s extraordinary for you!!❤️❤️
You are so welcome Stephanie and thank you for taking a moment to come back and share your comment. I’m so glad that you found it useful for others…and yourself! 🙂
Sending you love and holiday wishes. xo
