This is post number 550 on PBR! I somehow managed to blow right past 500 so I felt like I had to acknowledge 550. It feels like a huge milestone. I can’t believe that I’m approaching my second blog anniversary in April. I just love the direction that the blog has taken and I’m so excited about future potential!
This has been a really busy week but it’s flown by. Thursdays are usually pretty quiet for me but today was an exception. I started it with a massage (who can complain about that!?) and it was the best one I’ve ever had. One of my personal training clients recommended her massage therapist to me but warned me that it would be more bodywork-style rather than relaxing. Exactly what I’ve been looking for. I tend to manifest stress physically and recently I’ve had a lot of neck, back and hip pain. My massage today was incredible! The therapist focused on neuromuscular therapy and although there were many moments that required yoga breathing and flailing of limbs, I feel so much better now. I am surprisingly sore and she warned me that I may even bruise. Intense.
I had to rush uptown to teach yoga after my massage. My therapist gave me a bit of a lecture that next time I get a massage, I need to relax and rest afterwards rather than have a jam-packed day. Lounging on the couch and taking a hot shower certainly sounded like an appealing way to spend the day but wasn’t realistic. I grabbed a cup of carrot ginger soup (my favorite!) and half of a hummus sandwich from Energy Cafe after teaching.
The rest of my afternoon was spent teaching a yoga private and BodyPump and in an appointment. I finally arrived home at 8 p.m. and was so ready for dinner.
I have been craving veggie curry so I made green coconut curry with eggplant, tofu and stir fry veggies.
I love this dinner so much. I served it over brown rice with a healthy dose of soy sauce and Sriracha. Can’t wait for leftovers!
Again, thank you so much for the entries in the Ghandi Giveaway and let me state again how much I had enjoyed reading all of the responses. I mean it when I say that this will be my “go to” on bad days to remind me that life is good and happiness abounds!
THE WINNER! I wish I could bake for every single one of you.
Comment #26, Laura! Congratulations on crushing your first half!!!
This cute furry thing is demanding my attention. Hope everyone has a great Friday! Mine is actually going to be pretty chill. I only have to teach one class and then I’m going to devote the rest of the day to practicing, getting a hair cut and catching up on email!
And about that hair cut…I’m a little undecided about the direction I’m going to take. Part of me wants a change. I want to stay long but I’m thinking about going back to a side-swept bang. But it’s such a pain to pin back for yoga. Decisions, decision.
Thoughts? Tell me I’ll regret it! ๐
Go for it!! You can always do a fun braid with the bangs ๐
Congrats on post number 550! I just discovered your blog about two weeks ago, and I loved it so much that I literally read through your ENTIRE blog (which means I read exactly 550 blog posts haha). I think it is great to see someone who is passionate about all different types of fitness (yoga, running, and strength training). I definitely relate in that regard. I have just started to fall in love with yoga, and seeing your journey with yoga has been very inspiring! I’m excited to keep reading. ๐
rachel – thanks so much for reading and for catching up on everything! love that you have started to get into yoga! let me know if you ever have any questions! ๐
Do it! Get some cute bobbie pins! I must say that dinner looks really good. Sullie! XXOO
Oh you look really cute with bangs in that picture! I think you should do the bang thing. I’m sure they’ll grow out soon enough if you decide you don’t have the patience for them.
Go for the bangs–such a cute style on you!
I agree! Do the bangs!
Sullie is so stinking cute.
I actually prefer massages that “work” my body. Isn’t that the point?
Hi! I read your blog quite often and decided to comment instead of lurking. First congrats on the 550! . . . and the hair, do it! I wrestled with the same issue because of all the extra hair fussing for workouts (I teach indoor cycling) I cut the bangs and am glad I did. You already know those bangs look cute ๐
ann – thanks so much for reading and for coming out of lurkdom to comment! ๐
i ended up going with the long layers. i cut full bangs a couple of years ago and i made myself reflect back on what a hassle it was to do anything with them other than put on a hat when i worked out!
I’ve been having an internal debate over whether or not to get bangs, too! I really want some to give my hair some style (it’s long and straight like yours), but my roommate, who does have bangs, talked me out of it. She said it would drive me nuts trying to keep them nice since I work out so much.
That pic of Sullie makes me want to just give her a big hug!
i know…she’s too cute for her own good!
the having to deal with pinning back is ultimately what swayed me to go with long layers instead of bangs since i spend so much time sweating! ๐
I like the pic of you with the bangs! ๐ happy 550!!
Happy 550 posts! I found your blog pretty soon after you started posting and it was a time in my life when I was miserable, two years in april is when my dad passed away and I think I started reading your blog in May.
Hope you have a great weekend!!!!
i totally remember when you first started reading and all you were going through. thank you so much for sticking with me for almost 2 years. hope you’re having a great weekend too!
go for it! a change is always good — and hair grows. i have side-swept bangs and get them out of my face with headbands or bobby pins or even a small braid.
happy 550 posts!
i need to learn how to do the braid thing. i love the way it looks but i’m challenged when it comes to doing that kind of stuff!
Definitely jealous of the massage/ bodywork!!! Where has Brandon been the past few weeks? I always love to see where you two dine together!
Practicality aside, I honestly just think you look better without the bangs. I had bangs all the way through undergrad. I graduated in May and got a real job and have been growing them out ever since. They are just such a daily hassle. Anyways, when I did have them…I liked to wear those no slip head bands when I’d work out. Sometimes I’d layer two colors. So fun! But, I don’t think you should do bangs…
so appreciate the honesty! i went with long layers instead! ๐
Love following your blog, but usually I only lurk. Congrats on post #550…all your posts are so encouraging and I look forward to reading them. I also enjoy your food blog. Take care!!
thank you so much for reading and commenting, marge! i hope to get more recipes up on my food blog soon!
I always have the same dilemma with my hair too. I love the look of the bang, but the upkeep is too high maintenance. Unless you’re doing more layers I suggest it, but layers always help me keep the long length without heading towards the “bang” direction.
went with the layers and super happy with that decision! definitely gave me the “style change” that i needed.
Too bad we can’t all just shave our heads and look good – it would be so much easier! I vote for bangs – not long side swept, but shorter bangs that start about the top of your head and come down in a V (that probably sounds weird but your stylist would understand).
Happy 550 to you! That is awesome! I’ve been reading your blog religiously for nearly a year now and love it!
Have a wonderful weekend!!
Congrats on blog post 550!!! And I honestly like you with or without the bangs…change is always good though ๐
And enjoy this weekend relaxing and get in some quality time with your hubby!! Speaking of Brandon…I haven’t heard about him recently? I’ve read back on some of your posts and you would mention him a lot…don’t want to pry but am hoping everything is ok…
1. )No bangs. Loving the messy. swept back bangs you’ve been rocking lately. I think long bangs/layers would be a great look.
2 )I NEED the massage therapist name/number.
3.) Congratulations on the 550!! You’re a blogging rock star! I love your blog – it’s truly one of my favorites and I’ve told so many of my friends about it! Hope to read MANY MANY more in the future! xoxoxo
