I could not sleep Wednesday night. I don’t know if it was my run, all the sugar in my frozen yogurt dinner or that I “slept in” until 7:15 a.m. the two mornings prior. I was just not tired. I finally fell asleep around 1 a.m. and popped out of bed at 5:15 a.m. when my alarm went off. I don’t think this is necessarily a good thing? Eek! Sleep body, sleep.
I headed to my second ashtanga class of the week. I was determined to get another ashtanga practice in since Tuesday night’s felt so terrible. I got to the studio around 6:10, rolled out my mat and got to work. There were only a few of us there practicing and it was just so blissful. Definitely a reminder that I am a morning yogi.
Breakfast at my desk was banana bread (baked last night after the blogger get together) with cinnamon peanut butter and grapes, blueberries and peaches.
No overnight oats (my typical post-yoga breakfast) because there was just no way I could put anything that semi resembled yogurt in my body this morning.
Over the course of the morning I developed a killer sinus headache. I was feeling pretty miserable on my drive home for lunch.
Like really miserable. I thought that maybe lunch would help my headache but no such luck.
I had a leftover garden veggie enchilada. On the side was quinoa and black beans, tomatoes, avocado, sour cream and salsa on a bed of spinach.
When I arrived back at work I decided that it was finally time to take something for my headache. I was so very thrilled to find an Advil Cold & Sinus in my purse (and I just switched purses this morning!!!). My headache dissipated within 30 minutes. Ahh…
Good thing because I had a BodyPump class to teach tonight! I was so excited that Jessie was able to make it. It was her first BodyPump class and she totally rocked it!
Although she may never come back because we made the class do push ups in chest, triceps and shoulders today. It was pretty intense/awesome. I was ready to work since my class got canceled on Monday. Gotta get that strength training in! ๐
After work I stopped by the store to pick up a few toiletry items and was thrilled to find Sam Adam’s Octoberfest.
This is one of our favorite Fall seasonal beers!
Dinner tonight was a random mixture of roasted things. Surprisingly, Brandon was totally on board with this.
Roasted eggplant, broccoli, zucchini and tofu. I also sautรฉed a chicken breast for Brandon. On the side I made a yogurt sauce with plain nonfat Greek yogurt, cumin, basil, lemon juice and salt. Simple but satisfying dinner.
And I’m out…meeting a friend for yoga at Charlotte Yoga tomorrow morning – it’s free yoga day there!!! ๐
Please tell me about your fabulous Labor Day weekend plans!!! You all know that we are so excited to stay home and hang in Charlotte but I want to know what you’re doing!
Unfortunately no fun plans this weekend. ๐
I’m working this weekend because there is a HUGE wedding in house and they need all hands on deck! I am excited that Sunday is going to be much less hot and humid than it has been. Perfect for my 21-mile long run.
Hope you have a great weekend! I’ve been hearing so many great things about Charlotte; I think I’m going to plan a vaca down there with my husband. Hopefully I can pick your brain about where to go when we do! ๐
Oh no! I’m sorry that you have to work! ๐ I’m also doing my long run (16) on Sunday and the temps should be in the low 60s early in the morning. I am SO excited about that! GOOD LUCK on your long run! 21 miles is a big one!
Charlotte is a great city – just the right size and really pretty. Let me know if you ever visit!
Lots of fun plans this weekend!! A hot yoga studio is opening in my neighborhood tomorrow, so I’m going to the inaugural class – sooo excited!! Saturday is the GT home opener (which I’m suuurrre you’re excited about)! I’m sooo excited for football season!! Hope you have a fun weekend!
Josie – please report back on how you like the new hot yoga studio. How lucky you are that one just opened in your neighborhood and how cool that you get to go to the very first class. I am VERY excited too that college football has kicked off for the year. I was just telling Brandon the other day that I need to make a bunch of new dips/game day food to blog about! ๐
Tennis on Saturday, and long run on Monday — I’m excited because the 6th is probably the last day I’ll be able to practice a long, quality run before my Oct 3rd half-marathon… so many things will be going on afterward… I must use the opportunity wisely ๐
Claudie – I am terrible at tennis but love to try to play every now and then. GOOD LUCK on your long run! Sounds like you’ll just have a nice, long, relaxing taper! I’m sure you will be great on race day! ๐
Oh, I’m still a beginner at tennis and learning, so I’m not any good at it either ๐ About the run — thanks! ๐ I’m excited and inspired, especially after finishing Dean Karnazes book (“Ultramarathon man”)… longing for a long peaceful run ๐
I have been having serious issues sleeping too. It’s driving me crazy!
Pushups in all 3 tracks? That’s just mean! LOL
