Helllllooo! Haha, clearly that dream I had about a normal posting schedule while my nieces were visiting was a delusional thought.
SHOUT OUT to all of my readers who are moms to littles. I don’t know how you get anything done. Between cooking, cleaning, baths, laundry, playing, answering questions (so many questions), chauffeuring and all the other things that go into having kids around, there isn’t time left for much else.
But no complaints here. We freaking LOVE it. So much so that Tanner and I are trying to negotiate adding a few extra days to their visit. ๐ Tanner is great with kids and my mom and I left him solo with the girls last night while we went out for dinner. We arrived home to happy and fed girls although only one made it into her PJs and I think we forgot baths. ๐ All three of them were watching a movie together and Tanner and Kilynn were snoozing.
Kilynn is five and will start kindergarten next year. She loves helping me cook.
This girl has the cutest personality. This is how she dressed herself for her first day of splash camp. She didn’t even want to put clothes on over her bathing suit. She wanted to be ready to jump in ASAP.
Kilynn loves the pups.
And they are both so patient with her.
Jaidyn is nine and will be entering fourth grade in the fall. I’m so proud of her for making honor roll all last school year. She’s in a “Girl’s Rock” day camp and is eating it up. They are doing all sorts of fun things like self-esteem building activities, talent shows, crafts, swimming and more.
They have both enjoyed coming to the studio with Tanner and me. They love our child watch room and “sweet talking” us into toy store visits after class.
One of my amazing students told me she wanted to bake a cake for me this week so that Jaidyn and Kilynn could enjoy it too. How beautiful is this cake!? It’s so bright, cheerful and fun.
I’m feeling extra grateful for our yoga community. They have gone above and beyond in supporting and loving me and the girls over the last 10 months. One of my friends is a pediatric dentist and she treated both of the girls while they were here. My friend Wanda has offered to do a fun photo shoot with them and we’ve had tons of play date and swim invitations. ๐
We may or may not have had cake for breakfast this morning. ๐
That’s all for now…just a quick check-in today. I hope you guys are having a great week!
What’s been the best part of your week so far?ย
Cake for breakfast always tastes better than cake for dessert, in my humble opinion.
I’m with you, I LOVE spending time with my nieces (and nephews), but HOT DAMN, I give mad props to all the mama’s out there who do that full time.
Looks like they are having so much fun! Goldens are the BEST with kids!!
That cake is absolutely beautiful!! Have such a great time with the girls – as you said, it’s so not easy but it’s so much fun being with the kids ๐
That sounds like such a fun week! I commend you on taking care of two girls and your dogs! Sometimes I wonder if having multiple dogs and kids is possible without going crazy haha
Okay that cake looks AMAZING!! Looks like the girls are having so much fun with you guys! What special memories!
Wow, that’s the most gorgeous cake I’ve ever seen! Hope it tasted just as good!
This post nearly made me cry… from the pain you’ve all endoured this year to now seeing moments of sweet joy of an aunt (and uncle) with nieces. It is beautiful — and so is your community!! How wonderful that they’re rallying around you. This speaks volumes of what YOU bring to them. I once read a quote and it was something along the lines of, “Hapiness, like a boomerang, will always come back to you.”
As for my best moment? I’ll just say my whole week — spending it in Gulf Shores, AL with my husband, parents, sister, brother in law and nieces. So much fun — my heart is full!
That cake looks amazing! Does the sweet person who made it for you sell them?
Love to hear how much fun you’re having with the girls! They’re lucky to have seen aunt and uncle who enjoy being wth them so much. There’s a saying I’ve heard that having kids is the hardest, but best job you’ll ever have. And it’s true.
To that end, best part(s) of my week so far have been my 4 yr old telling me I was the best mommy ever AND even better, that he and his 2 year old brother told each other they were each other’s best friend. Warms my heart.
That cake is seriously beautiful. I don’t even like cake and I want a piece of that one!
It looks like your nieces are having the time of their lives! How wonderful that you’re able to spend such great quality time with them.
this makes my heart happy that you are all together, having the best time!
and THAT. CAKE. !!!
