Good morning and happy Tuesday! Some of you have inquired about exactly what this trip is that I’m on. It’s a yoga retreat through the studio back home where I teach and practice. There are 24 of us who traveled down here together to yoga and vacation. Basically, adult spring break. We practice twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evenings and spend the rest of our time hanging out on the beach, eating and drinking. It’s pretty fabulous!
Here’s a snapshot of what my days are looking like.
Sleep until 7:30 or 8, order coffee and fruit from room service and get ready for morning practice.
Set up my mat for practice with this lovely view.
Beach front 90-minute vinyasa flow practice.
Get beach ready.
Lunch after some beach time.
Afternoon relaxation with wine and a book, followed by a massage before teaching the 5-6 p.m. practice. It was a treat to get to jump in a teach one of the classes!
Sunset photography after class. The sun kind of sets over to the left here and not over the water so you don’t get to see the sunset but the light is beautiful.
The resort did a five-course tasting menu for our group last night. More on that later!
Moonlight over the ocean and at least eight hours of sleep a night.
We are staying at Zoetry Agua in Punta Cana. It’s a small wellness-focused resort. I’ll write a full review of the resort once I get home but we’ve all been so pleased and feel really lucky to be here together.
Have a great day!
I thought that looked like Zoetry! We spent our 4th anniversary there a couple of years ago and loved it. I saw that Y2 was doing a trip there and your pictures are making me so sad that I didn’t sign up! Enjoy the lovely views, great service and amazing food – best place to relax ever. 🙂
What a wonderful retreat! Yoga, beach, relaxation. Perfection!
Oh my, it looks amazing. I just got on their website. We’ve never been to the Dominican. I can’t wait to see your full review!!!
Soak it all in. The trip sounds so ideal–you deserve it. And I’m happy you are able to be the student and the teacher
This seems like the perfect trip! Glad you are enjoying it!
Outdoor yoga in tropical paradise, looks perfect! Enjoy your vacation!
You look AWESOME and yoga on the beach is gorgeous!
Wow this vacation looks wonderful! Yoga, relaxation, and beauty all around you! So lucky!
Wow this looks like heaven! I am anxious for a vaca myself, it has been way too long!
We look similar in a bikini.
You look fantastic! I would love to be laying ocean-side right now! Is that disc necklace you are wearing from your friend who makes and sells jewelry (cannot think of her name). I have been looking for a necklace just like that. Is yours in gold?
I second this question!
Oh my gosh, this all sounds amazing. Can I trade you?;)
I’d love to have some sunny weather and palm trees surrounding me right about now!
It sounds like such an awesome retreat, and yoga twice a day is never a bad thing!
So happy for you and that you are enjoying yourself, soaking up the sun, eating delicious foods, and of course enjoying yoga by the sea! Looking forward to reading your review. PS: you look fabulous in that swimsuit. HOT! 😉
Sounds so fabulous! It’s great that all of you can come together and coordinate something like this. Enjoy!
Yoga by the beach sounds really relaxing. The trip sounds like a great bonding opportunity and a very mature spring break 😉 I haven’t had a proper vacation in two years and I definitely need to make a good one happen in 2013!
This may sound weird , but how can you afford all your great hobbies .
I have a Bacholrs and Masters Degree and I am no way closer to my dreams .
This year I am running the Chicago Marathon .
Just wanted some tips how to save or spend savy .
great question, liz…with many answers!
as far as all the fitness activities i do (yoga, crossfit, etc), they’re all free because i teach yoga at the studio so i practice free and i manage the gym so clearly crossfit is included as part of my job.
regarding this trip, it’s my first big vacation in two years so i felt it worth the investment. i am one of those people who would rather not do a lot of shopping on a regular basis and be able to do more big ticket things like travel.
also, i just work a lot. i try really hard to put money away on a consistant basis so that i can have a cushion for house expenses, travel, etc.
maybe i’ll write a post with more insight on all of this in the future.
I would love this type of post, too! I am like you- worked in advertising (but only lasted two years) and then decided to do what I REALLY wanted by becoming a personal trainer/group fitness instructor. Although I guess this would be a second post, something about starting out and how to make it a full time gig? I’m getting there but still struggling. I apologize if you’ve done this post, I googled before asking. 🙂 Your vacation looks incredible! Enjoy it.
Amazing pictures!! Looks like the perfect trip and these reminders are making me want to plan another one. Can’t wait to grab dinner and hear all about it!
