Happy Sunday! I hope the weekend has been great for you. I think the theme of my weekend is taking pictures in front of Christmas trees. Such a festive time of year. ๐
I’ll divide this post into “what I did” and “what I ate.”
Weekend Activities (a.k.a. how many pictures can i take in front of a christmas tree!)
Friday night I got decked out in cocktail attire for my brother in law’s 40th birthday party. I posed for a picture with sweet Sullie in front of the tree before leaving.
Although it was a birthday party, we had a special visit from Santa. He was pretty legit, huh?
I slept in and skipped yoga on Saturday morning in favor of a later class. I spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning before getting ready to meet some friends at Olde Mecklenburg Brewery for the Christmas Market.
I had so much fun hanging out with Debbie and Mary Dare (and sampling Olde Meck’s Yule Bock…yummmm). I know Debbie from yoga and met her friend Mary Dare last night. She’s also a group ex instructor and personal trainer so we had tons to talk about.
Weekend Eats
This is just a random sampling of some of the things I’ve eaten this weekend. Unpictured…multiple cupcakes leftover from the birthday party. ๐
Saturday morning breakfast was plain Greek yogurt topped with pumpkin butter, apples, bananas, cinnamon, granola and sunflower butter. I made bacon and eggs for Brandon.
Saturday post-yoga lunch was a slice of Great Harvest Dakota toasted with cream cheese and smoked salmon. Carrots, apples and pretzels on the side.
I picked up two boxes of Trader Joe’s Vanilla and Cinnamon Black Tea this week. I love this tea and it’s only available during the holidays. I’ve been drinking so much coffee and hot tea lately to warm up.
This is a terrible iPhone photo but I had to share my Saturday night dinner (post happy hour and Olde Meck). Brandon and I went to Pacos Tacos for the first time and it was delicious! I had a great internal debate…order the fajita salad with veggies and shrimp and leave feeling good or order tacos, rice and beans and leave feeling gross. Brandon told me to go big or go home so I did. I went with the tacos and cleaned the plate. Seriously. I have a love/hate relationship with Mexican food. It’s so delicious but I woke up at 2:30 a.m. and was up for an hour laying in bed with my food baby.
I had a protein-packed brunch after teaching yoga this morning. Two eggs with a crumbled soy sausage, spinach and mozzarella cheese. Grapefruit on the side.
And now I am off to enjoy my Sunday afternoon. Yoga + cooking a big batch of chili and beer bread.
Mexican food: love it, hate it or love/hate it?ย
Mexican food: Love it.
Love it but I’m so full for hours & hours after. Love that tea and the candy cane green tea. Sadly my aunt sends me these (and 2-3 boxes of candy cane jo jos!) from Seattle every year since Dallas doesn’t have TJ’s until some time next year.
i haven’t tried the candy cane jo jos but i’ve heard they are quite addictive. kind of scared to try them! ๐
Love Mexican food! I used to hate it because I would feel so sick, but sticking with vegetarian dishes has made me love it all over again!
totally agree with this. if i am mindful about what i order and go easy on the chips it can be a good experience! ๐
How fun! I love the photo with Santa. ๐
hate it ๐
i love how sullie poses for the camera!
i know! seriously the second the camera comes out, she jumps in and poses! ๐
Love your cocktail attire! Christmas tree pictures are a must this time of year. I like Mexican food, but it’s not my favorite. I usually only eat it when the people I’m with want it.
I love Mexican food also… but I am usually in the same boat as you with the food baby haha! It is so delicious though… Funny you mentioned beer bread, I just made my first loaf! It is awesome ๐
LOVE Mexican food! I don’t eat it often enough to let it bother me. It’s a great treat and one I thoroughly enjoy! (Especially queso dip and chips…so bad, but so good!)
On another note, Jen, what’s your white top in the Brewery Christmas picture? I’ve been looking for longer tops and yours looks cute + comfy. A winner!
LOVE Mexican food, but haven’t eaten it as much since moving back east! When I lived in San Diego it was so good and fresh. I ate it weekly! YUM! Jersey has great Italian, Bagels, and Chinese, but not such good Mexican. ๐
And you had an eager and willing assistant for morning yoga!
I love that dress! Where is it from?
Love Mexican food. our whole family does. Saturday I was dropping my daughter off at a friend’s house and they asked us to “come hungry”. they had leftovers from a party for 120 the night before. catered Mexican in huge pans – shredded chicken, beans, rice, taquitos, mole sauce… and much more. So much goodness!!
If you are loving tea, you must try the candy cane green tea from TJ’s…so good. I have seen the vanilla tea on a couple blogs and I am thinking I need to go pick some up.
I totally know what you mean about Mexican food, I always overdo it but it’s so hard to resist! I have to say, I never thought you’d be one to get a food baby (haha)- glad I’m not the only one!
Love your outfit from the birthday party! So festive and cute!
I love/hate Mexican food. If I steer clear of all the chips and salsa then I tend to feel much better after the meal. ๐
Love your outfit for the birthday party! That dress and necklace look great together.
Hate being woken up by food babies in the middle of the night, but glad that the meal was worth it ๐
Gorgeous tree – looks like a fun weekend! I haven’t tried OMB’s seasonal yet, but it sounds delish.
I am the same- I die for Mexican but I always leave thinking “woah, Molly… you overdid it… again.” haha the gauc is always worth it though! ๐
Love it, but it doesn’t always love me. Such a good once-in-a-while meal for me. Also, the Trader Joe’s tea is SO good! I initially bought it because of the ridiculous tea-sipping Lemur on the front but the tea itself is so tasty and just feels right this time of year. The candy cane green tea is also really yummy.
