Happy Friday. Finn and I are enjoying a lazy gray day. We slept until almost 8 and didn’t get out of our PJs until almost noon!
Our morning was full of soup making, movie watching and snuggling.
Given that we have lows in the 40s on deck for the weekend, I decided it was time to make my first pot of soup of the fall season. I almost made it to the first day of fall! 🙂 This is my cauliflower, kale and lentil vegan power soup and you can find the recipe here. I also think I’m going to bake something this afternoon! I’m feeling all the coziness.
Finn is napping now so I’ll catch you up on a few things from the week.
I finished the series Normal People on Hulu last night and oh man…it did a number on me. Dorie recommended it and I started watching a couple of weeks ago. I flew through the series and found myself sitting on the couch crying as I watched the final episode last night. I have to tell you that I wouldn’t call this a feel good show. It is an intimate and raw look at relationships and love and is real and relatable in many ways. It’s based on a book by Sally Rooney and I think I’ll read it next.
These are my TV watching companions. I got tons of questions about these shoes on Instagram earlier this week when I paired them with a black fitted t-shirt dress. Here is the link and they are on sale! I bought these in my normal shoe size, not my sneaker size FYI.
Speaking of the den, my floors are done and aren’t they pretty!? I have since had my couch delivered as well as a rug so things are coming along.
Before the rain moved in we had a few days of gorgeous weather in Charlotte. I took the dogs on long walks and it felt so amazing. Y’all…I just have not been feeling running lately. I think I’ve run twice in six weeks. I have zero doubt that as soon as fall weather is here that I’ll be back at it. It’s my favorite season to run!
What has been feeling AMAZING is yoga. I just cannot stay off of my mat right now! It’s also been wonderful to be back in the studio teaching and practicing…at a social distance with no heat.
Finn started fall session of swim lessons this week. I asked him what suit he wanted to wear and he said “tigers, grrr.” He’s also taking weekly outdoor music classes so I’m happy that he’s getting back to doing some fun activities.
And one final fun activity…Finn loves trips to the pet store to get dog food. He likes to look at the fishies and wanted to take Mickey in to show him. It was so sweet.
I hope y’all have a great weekend!
QUESTIONS
Are you baking anything this weekend?
Are your kids back in any activities?
What workout is feeling best for you right now?
Your cozy Friday looks perfect! I’ve had brownies on the brain this week so that’s my weekend baking project. I am reading Normal People by Sally Rooney right now. Highly recommend the book. And now you’ve inspired me to watch the show too. Have a great weekend! 🙂
Homemade brownies are the best! 🙂 I hope they were delicious. I am going to read the book next.
That soup sounds amazing! I think I will make it today! Yummm! I’m definitely moving into hibernation mode 🙂
I just added Normal People to my watch list. The soup looks amazing. I love soup weather. Does Finn wear a mask in stores? Is it recommended for kids his age? I don’t have little kids so I haven’t paid attention to that. My kids used to LOVE watching the fish at Petsmart. And the birds too. Such good memories!! Hope you have a great weekend.
I think it’s different in every area for ex my area is kids under five are exempt from masks. For really little
Ones sometimes it just encourages them touching their face too much … and lots of them
Wont keep it on anyways.
That makes sense…especially the touching the face thing.
Finn does not wear a mask. He is all about mommy “mask on” before we go in stores but he doesn’t tolerate them well and I don’t push it. In North Carolina children under the age of 5 are not required to wear masks.
Definitely read the book Normal People, it is basically the same as the tv show (one of the best book to tv adaptations i think!) but does give a bit more nuance and insight into the characters! But it ends the same! I felt like it needs a sequel!
It’s next on my list after I finish this crazy thriller that I’m reading now!
