Today was my Friday and I have no work responsibilities until next Thursday. I am really excited about this break. It is so needed. I’m finally going to tackle some unfun tasks like figuring out how to file for our first time home buyer’s credit, finally getting a NC license plate (I still have Alabama plates and they are three months expired. Not good!) and lots of home organization. I also have fun things planned like a trip to Athens to visit friends and go to a music festival, yoga every morning (with all the housewives!) and cooking and blog work.
Oh and Marine Corps Marathon training starts Monday. I need to put together my training schedule ASAP!
Wednesday’s post ended with lunch so I’ll start with last night’s activities. I had a run planned after work yesterday but decided to bail on it. I was so exhausted from being up at 5 every morning this week and was facing another early wake up call today. Also, our house was a mess and driving me crazy. Instead of running I came home and cleaned our whole house. I cannot even describe to you how much better I felt once everything was clean and organized.
I was on my own for dinner and craving something simple and healthy.
Omelet made with one egg, one egg white, goat cheese, sundried tomatoes and basil pesto.
Cherries and baby greens on the side.
I taught BodyPump this morning. I don’t usually teach on Thursday mornings but someone needed a sub. I also volunteered to sub tomorrow on my day off – four classes in one week is a bit much! Tomorrow’s class should be fun though because the Friday lunch class is the biggest of the week. They usually have 50+ people. Excited!
I prepared breakfast last night before bed.
Overnight oats. In the bowl overnight went a small container of vanilla Greek yogurt, 1/3 cup almond milk, 1/3 cup oats, chia seeds, blueberries and dried cranberries. This morning I finished it off with almond butter (thinned with almond milk and heated to make more spreadable) and a peach.
I actually had time to eat at home this morning so I grabbed a magazine and hit the patio for a relaxing breakfast.
I went out to lunch today with some co-workers. We decided to try The Liberty. I’ve heard so much about The Liberty and have been dying to try it. My quick review is that the food was good but the service was so so. I ordered the Portobello Sandwich – portobellos, roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, aioli, swiss, lettuce and tomato. I really dislike Swiss cheese and asked that they switch it out. It wasn’t done. Also, my co-worker ordered a burger and they brought it out undercooked (she asked for well done and it was definitely medium rare). She sent the burger back and they didn’t bring another one until we were all finished and messed it up again. She ended up just having them box it up and took it back to the office. Then they offered to give her the burger half price. Why they didn’t just comp it is beyond me. That sounds like a bad review but the food really was good. I think our server just wasn’t the best.
I left work a little early today and really wanted to get a run in. Brandon was heading to the YMCA but I just couldn’t face the “dreadmill.” I decided to brave the 96 degree temperature and run from our house to the Y. Brandon brought a bag with my swimsuit so that I could jump in the pool when I got there.
I knocked out 3.75 miles in 35:18 (about a 9:38 pace). I thought that was pretty good considering the heat and my full belly.
The pool was so nice after my run! It was totally worth braving the heat to be able to run outside.
Brandon requested tacos for dinner. I created a GIANT taco salad.
Check out the size of this thing!
I ate most of this! ๐ณ
Heading to bed early again tonight. Hot yoga + trip to the License Plate Office + BodyPump + hitting the road for Athens tomorrow.
Do you have any fun weekend plans?
Heading to Athens this weekend, yay, but I’m heading to Panama City today so we will miss each other ๐ Hopefully, we can get together another time. Maybe when we are heading back from Chapel Hill or something? Or we can just plan a visit one weekend? Miss ya’ll! Have fun at AthFest!
Yay for a much needed break ๐
I’ve been meaning to try the Liberty too. That’s so annoying about the service. You’re so hardcore for running in this heat. It is killing me! Good luck making your training plan!
Ahhh I need you here to start this marathon training! Tomorrow morning I’m going to see what I’m working with. SCARY.
