I have been relatively worthless today. I subbed out my classes so as not to spread my cold germs and proceeded to sleep until 9 a.m.
Once I rolled out of bed, I immediately started on breakfast and coffee. I made a bowl of Silk Nog Holiday Oatmeal and topped it with TJs pumpkin butter and almond butter.
I sat around in my PJs until 10:30 and then headed to the Y. I know the jury is out on working out while sick but I wasn’t running a fever and felt up to it so I did some light cardio and knocked out four miles on the treadmill. I wanted to run outside but it was rainy and gross so I thought that indoor conditions would be better given my cold. Sometimes when I am congested an easy workout actually helps break up some of it.
Lunch was a salad with mixed greens, avocado, smoked salmon, carrots and feta with honey dijon lemon vinaigrette.
I had some meetings and appointments this afternoon and then we finally got some Christmas shopping done. It was relatively painless because we had a very detailed list. I am not on board with “browsing and hoping I find inspiration.” I need to go in with a plan of attack! ๐
It was almost 8 by the time we wrapped up shopping so we decided to grab dinner out.
We had a buy one/get one for Baoding, a Chinese restaurant right across from the mall. I had to take a picture of the random appetizer they brought us. I did appreciate that they brought us something to snack on.
I ordered the Sauteed Mixed Vegetables with brown rice. It was a mixture of broccoli, snow peas, baby corn, mushrooms, water chestnuts and tofu in a light brown sauce. It was basic but good.
And then the moment we arrived home I concocted this. Chocolate Whiskey Cake with ice cream and hot fudge sauce. Don’t even know what to say about this other than “worth it.”
I know I’m not alone in my uptake in holiday dessert consumption, right? Oh, I forgot to mention the Christmas cookies after my lunch salad. ๐
The gym I work at is amazing with subbing! No one feel guilty for having to miss a class, it’s important to feel 100% better!

i agree with the plan of attack at the mall. i hate aimlessly wandering around. and i hate crowds. a plan of attack always works!
That sounds really productive for a “worthless” day to me! Shopping, gym, dinner out…
