Happy weekend friends! I hope it’s been a nice Saturday for you.
Mine has been really good. I slept in this morning and skipped yoga. Nine hours of sleep will make you feel like a champion every time!
After spending the morning lounging around and drinking coffee, we met our friends Ashley and Lee for lunch. They are in town visiting family with their new baby, Henry.
We planned on brunch at Pewter Rose but the restaurant was slammed with Race for the Cure participants so we moved to plan b, 300 East. Henry joined us at the table but spent most of the time napping. ๐
I went with the same salad I always get at 300 East…it’s just so good. Mixed greens, beets, pears, pecans, blue cheese and dried apricots with balsamic vinaigrette.
After we successfully made it through our meals without any baby interruptions it was time to get some one-on-one time in with the little guy. Of course Brandon had first dibs. He is a total baby man. It’s super cute.
He is such a sweet baby. I am so happy that we were able to hang out with Ashley and Lee and meet Henry! Brandon has been friends with Ashley and Lee since elementary school and it’s crazy to be at the stage of our lives where friends are having babies!
After lunch I headed to an event that was on the opposite end of the spectrum from babies…a lingerie shower for Nicole!
The beautiful bride-to-be is getting married in Puerto Rico next weekend! Every bride needs some lingerie for her wedding weekend!
The shower was lovely and Nicole got some very pretty things. I helped myself to a post-lunch snack since I had a long run planned this afternoon.
Pimento cheese, spinach artichoke dip, pita chips, a mini quiche and a butterscotch scone. My lunch salad was definitely not substantial enough to get me through my run. I needed some carbs!
When I got home I spent quite a while procrastinating before finally heading out. My goal was to get at least 8 miles in. The conditions were perfect. Sunny and 60 degrees but there were some very strong wind gusts. I did the first three with Sullie and then dropped her off. I proceeded to overestimate the distance I was running and found myself 9 miles in and still 3 miles away from home. A 12 miler? No thank you.
And then I had an epiphany. I was close to the grocery store and we needed a few things for dinner. I called Brandon and asked him to meet me there. (I never do long runs without my phone…this is why!) I did get a few stares as I came jogging up to the entrance with my fuel belt! ๐
I ended up covering a little over 9.5 miles and it felt 100% great!
Post-run recovery involved a really hot shower, a beer, a hoodie and fuzzy slippers. It’s in the 40s here tonight! Brr!
Details on tonight’s delicious feast tomorrow. Off to plan my Sunday morning hot class!
I never go anywhere without my phone! I am so glad you were able to call your husband ๐ P.s you two look adorable with a a baby ๐
haha thanks! we’re going to wait a bit longer on that one! ๐
Harris Teeter over at Park Road? I miss good grocery stores…
That salad looks AMAZING and your husband looks so smitten with the baby =)
yep, that’s the one.
brandon loves babies and he’s so good with them. it’s really sweet!
Hi Jen! I just came to check out your blog when I was linked from twitter (@leahfabulous). I can’t wait to be reading more! I’m especially interested in the yoga you do as I really want to start getting into it more. Enjoy your Sunday!
hi leah! thanks so much for checking out my blog. i am a yoga teacher! let me know if you have any specific questions about yoga. i’m excited that you want to get into it more! i’m going to be starting a series of posts where i breakdown yoga poses so stay tuned!
Sounds (looks?) like a nice day!! I got in a 11 mike training run and an engagement party. Question.. How do you carry your phone with you on runs? I haven’t found a comfortable way to do it. Thanks!! ๐ maybe see you in an hour if I get to hydrating…
congrats on 11 miles. that’s awesome! i put my phone in the pocket of my fuel belt (on long runs…don’t carry it on short runs). i also use it for music.
hydrate! ๐
Nice job on your long run! I am still procrastinating over here ๐
It’s like 50 out and VERY WINDY. Burr…
holly – it was super windy here yesterday when i ran too (gusts up to 20 mph). you’ll warm up as soon as you get going! i hope the sun is shining there. have a great run!!! ๐
i love that you multi-tasked post-LR. i would have done the same thing.
enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Haha I love rockin the compression sleeves in public places too ๐
hoodie + leggings + uggs are my favorite post-run or workout wear. After a nice hot shower of course!
Your post-run outfit looks soooo comfy! It makes me want to go slip on my UGG slippers now! ๐
Ditto to that! I haven’t hauled out my Uggs yet but I think I’ll have to now. Nothing beats sweats, Uggs and tea after a long run when the weather’s starting to get brisk ๐
Haha, I love that you just ran into the grocery store and starting shopping. That’s a good reason for me to carry my phone with me when I run too. ๐
Few more weeks!
I like your sweatshirt!
so so happy to see that you’re running long pain-free! ๐
So funny! I totally know Ashley. I took classes with her in college because we were both edu majors. Such a small world. ๐
