It’s noon on Saturday and I am still in my pajamas. To be fair, I have done things this morning…just in the comfort of my PJs! It’s gray and gross outside so I have no problem with my leisurely morning! ๐
I woke up at 6 a.m. and was wide awake. I considered going to super flow at 7:30 a.m. but willed myself back to sleep until 8:30 instead. I have not slept in since our trip to Georgia a couple of weeks ago and I haven’t gotten eight hours of sleep all week (not good!). I think my total for last night ended up right under nine hours and I’m feeling very rested this morning!
I owe you guys a Friday recap! I kicked if off with a hot vinyasa class at my yoga studio. This is one of my favorite classes of the week and my very favorite way to start the weekend.
Breakfast was blueberry banana oatmeal. In the mix…1/2 cup oats, 1/2 cup 1% milk, chia seeds, dried cranberries, blueberries, 1/2 banana, cinnamon and a pinch of salt. Topped with TJ’s crunchy almond butter and Crofter’s. Such a good combination. Yum!
Leftovers for lunch.
White Chicken Chili and a slice of Great Harvest Honey Whole Wheat toasted. Even though this soup is healthy, it’s very hearty. This kept me full all afternoon.
We had a fun Friday at work. One of our clients is kicking off a really cool new campaign so we had a party at the end of the day to celebrate and view all of the new work.
I passed on a martini at 4 p.m. but I did have a Fat Tire.
It was nice to enjoy Friday evening and not have to rush to the yoga studio for teacher training. Brandon and I decided to head over to Olde Mecklenburg Brewery to refill our growler and have happy hour.
Olde Meck was rocking last night! I’m so happy to see that our local brewery has really taken off. While we were there we discussed what the have for dinner and finally decided on creating Greek-inspired chicken burgers.
We kind of made these up as we went (original inspiration from Jenna’s blog) and they were delicious! I’ve posted the recipe on Bakin’ and Eggs. These are quick, easy, healthy and full of flavor. You must try! Alexia’s Sweet Potato Fries and salad on the side.
We got a French press for Christmas and have been loving it! Brandon made coffee this morning, complete with frothed milk.
And I made breakfast.
Eggs, Great Harvest Cinnachip toast (topped with real butter…mmm…), strawberries and grapes.
Finally, a cute Sullie picture to share.
When she was a puppy we trained her not to eat until we say “oink, oink.” She will literally sit there and stare at you for five minutes until you say it. This morning I mixed plain yogurt into her food (probiotics are really good for dogs too!!!) and she was so patient with me taking pictures even though she was dying to dig in!
On the agenda for today…running, vacation planning, finally filming foam rolling 101 (cross my heart!), errands and hopefully a manicure and pedicure.
Enjoy the weekend!
***Don’t forget that you have until noon Sunday to leave a comment for a chance to receive Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars baked by yours truly!***
I can’t wait to be able to relax. I’ve been pretty much Go! Go! for the past three weeks and I won’t have a day off until Friday. I’m starting to decompress a bit and I feel like I’m getting sick. Boo.
Looks like your weekend is starting off great! ๐
Oh no, I hope you don’t get sick! I tend to get sick when I’m run down and overwhelmed. Try to relax and take care of yourself as much as you can!
Your morning sounds relaxing. I’m glad you are able to let yourself take a break!
Haha my dog does the same thing! We say ‘spis’ instead, it’s the command form of ‘eat’ in Danish and Norwegian. And if you say it but not directly at him, he will sort of lurch forward then freak out that we weren’t talking to him. Sometimes we need to say if several times. That said, he eats anything and everything… so it’s not because of a lack of appetite.
Yay for pajamas all morning!
I love that you use a command in another language. Sullie usually makes eye contact with us and waits for us to say it so she knows it’s time.
What kind of dog do you have? He sounds smart and well-trained!
Sullie is so cute! I love that she waits for you to say oink, oink! We have a goldendoodle and he waits for us to tell him to eat too. Although, we just say “ok”. Oink, oink is way cuter! Have a great day…mani/pedi day for me too!
Sullie is adorable. You can tell she is just dying for you to say “oink, oink”!
Enjoy your free weekend!
I just got home from work and for the rest of the day I am going to rent Love & other drugs and not get off the couch ๐ I cant wait! P.S. that coffee looks Delicious!!
Oh, I really want to see that movie! Let me know if you like it!
I can’t believe Sullie has to wait to hear “oink, oink” to eat!! That is so hilarious!
We make our dog wait for his food, too! I wish we had been as clever as to make him wait for us to say, “Oink, oink,” though! A “good boy” is his signal.
Sullie is so adorable and the breakfast looks amazing!
Every time I read about your yoga studio, I contemplate moving to Charlotte just so I could join in the fun. ๐
Question: How do you pronounce your dog’s name? When I first read it, my initial response was that it’s “Sue – lee”…but now I am wondering if it is “Sull (rhymes with lull) -lee”. Just curious ๐
Katie – come visit! We have amazing yoga studios here in Charlotte. We are so spoiled! I struggle when I travel to find studios that live up to my high expectations. ๐
It’s pronounced the second way. It’s short for Sullivan. She’s named after Sullivan’s Island in Charleston.
Race training has taken over my life lately at the expense of yoga. You always inspire me to get more yoga in my life! Thank you for that ๐
Kayli – I flip flop between the two as well. I get really sucked into training when I’m in the middle of it and some of the focus comes off of yoga. Now that I’m focusing on yoga and teacher training, I’m hardly running at all but I miss it!
I love love this chili! Thank you so
much ๐
