Thank you for all the sweet messages about my one year blogging anniversary. I’m excited to kick off year two!
We got home from the beach a few hours ago. We had a really nice time with our friends and it was nice to get away and relax. I slept 10 hours last night – it was glorious!
Here’s a quick snapshot of our trip. I hope you guys had great weekends too!
Toast when we arrived Friday night to celebrate Lee and Ashley – they’re expecting! Ashley is due in July but they’re not finding out the sex. I don’t know how they can stand the suspense! ๐
Friday night dinner – she crab soup and a cheese biscuit.
Dinner part two – shrimp cocktail and one of Ashley’s sea scallops.
A stormy Saturday. I walked to the beach with Sullie after my morning run. I covered about 4 miles. Last time we were at the beach with Lee and Ashley I was training for Marine Corps and ran 14 miles!!! Read the recap here.
Happiness.
Hating me because I didn’t take her out on the beach.
Saturday breakfast. I made French toast for everyone with Great Harvest Cinnamon Chip bread. I topped mine with vanilla yogurt, bananas and peanut butter.
We ventured out to the beach for a little while but it was freezing. The wind was so strong. Brandon and Lee stayed out there for several hours but Ashley and I couldn’t hang. An afternoon trip to the hot tub with a pina colada was much more my style! ๐
Cheese plate appetizer.
Salad.
Homemade pizza. There was also unpictured wine and brownies while we played Apples to Apples. Such a fun game!
I arose from my 10 hours slumber to find a beautiful, sunny day. I knocked out five amazing miles on the beach this morning.
Post-run breakfast of vanilla bean and honey Greek yogurt, Kashi Go Lean, banana, dried cranberry and peanut butter.
Sullie had so much fun playing with Lee and Ashley’s chocolate lab, Lawson, this weekend. There was lots of wrestling and tug of war.
We took advantage of the awesome day and spent a few hours on the beach before heading home.
Lunch packed for the car. Apple, peanut butter and jelly and a Diet Coke. A once in a blue moon treat!
Pad thai with tofu and chicken and Asian veggies for dinner when we got home.
Off to bed. I’m ready to kick off a short week. We have Friday off of work!
Thank you so much for all the inspiration you’ve given me this year! You are a wonderful blogger and woman and I definitely look forward to many more years reading about your journey!
Much love!
Janine
Thank you, Janine! ๐
I am SO jealous!! Your weekend looks AMAZING, and so summery!! And beach running?! I’ve always wanted to do that!! I’m green with envy! ๐
Oh this makes me want to hit up the beach so badly! What a wonderful trip- yummy food, exercise and some sunshine.
Did you legs hurt/feel different after running on sand?
They didn’t but I think it’s because the sand was super packed from all the rain and the beach was really flat. I usually don’t love running on the beach but it was awesome on Sunday – ideal conditions! ๐
Were you guys in Charleston this weekend? Kevin and I actually had hotel reservations to go, but ended up canceling due to the weather. We’re now headed down in 2 weeks. Looks like you still had fun despite the storms!
Sara – we were actually in North Myrtle Beach. I think you were smart to postpone your Charleston trip. The wind was CRAZY on the coast.
Charleston is one of our all time favorite cities!!!
Oh, that looks like such an amazing weekend! I can’t wait for the warm weather to lounge on the beach. I need to find my beach body somewhere. ๐
haha ๐
