Happy weekend everyone! I was absolutely thrilled to learn that I was getting a surprise weekend visitor from Florida!
My mom!!! She booked a last minute flight to spend my birthday weekend with me (it’s Monday) and I’m SO happy to have her here! She hasn’t visited Charlotte since I bought my house almost 5 years ago!!! I took her to the farmers market with me today after I taught my AM yoga classes at OM to stock up on some summer stuff. We got a cantaloupe, tomatoes, kale, blackberries, zucchini, squash, cucumbers, beets, honey whole wheat bread and flowers.
While we were there we enjoyed some delicious empanadas. I had Nutella and banana (to DIE for) and my mom had veggie. It was a nice little pre-lunch snack.
Since we didn’t get home from the airport last night until nearly 8 p.m., I planned to cook dinner at home. I made balsamic glazed bone-in pork chops with caramelized shallots over goat cheese mashed cauliflower with green beans. It was my mom’s first time trying mashed cauliflower and she approved. I heard her telling my dad about it and commenting how he had to try making it so I take that as a stamp of approval!
After the farmers market this morning we made tomato sandwiches for lunch at home and then got ready to go out to do some house shopping stuff. I wore this fun new elephant dress for the first time with my Erin McDermott Lucky Elephant Necklace. So matchy matchy. And how cute is my background star?
Afternoon house activities were fun! I’m doing a little kitchen facelift and replacing my countertops with granite, putting in an under mount sink, having the cabinets repainted, changing the hardware and repainting the whole kitchen. I am so freaking excited! I spend so much time in the kitchen and this upgrade is long overdue. Now, if someone could just help me pick out granite. So overwhelming! I am leaning towards a shade of gray with gray cabinets and light walls. I need to get busy on Pinterest! And if anyone has a gray granite or quartz that they absolutely love, give me some recommendations!
We’re relaxing at home for a bit before evening massages and a casual dinner. What a nice day and so happy to have my mom with me! ๐
Have a great weekend!
Sounds like an amazing weekend! Your skin really is looking flawless. PS Love the sweet little photo bomber!!
I have granite similar to the one on the upper right and love it. My mom has plain black and its a nightmare to keep clean, shows every spot, but does look great when cleaned and polished.
Love your taste! I have always wanted a white or gray quartz ith white or gray cabinets. Seems like you might like quartz because of the durability?
So fun! Enjoy the time with your mom!
Looks like a lovely weekend! Happy happy early birthday.
I’m so happy for you that your mom is able to visit! Enjoy your time with her. ๐ Love the photobomb from Sullie. ๐
Pleeeease tell me where your elephant dress is from. Need it in my life immediately if not sooner!
Try to get your granite from the remnant yard which will save you $!
try ceasarstone…it is amazing. has been recommened to me by countless designers. i am currently getting the concrete color in my house (white cabinets, brushed metal hardware, light grey walls). also, costco does very affordable countertops.
Good luck w/ you kitchen facelift – you will love it! Hope you had a happy b-day! The elephant dress & necklace is super cute!
