I take back everything I said about having too much downtime this week. Today was busy, busy but I loved every minute of it! I taught four classes (three yoga and one BodyPump) and also shadowed a few personal trainers. It was really fun to hang out with different trainers and see each person’s training style. It made me really excited to get going with my own clients. I’m ready to jump in and do this!
Breakfast was a repeat of yesterday’s cinnamon raisin English muffin with almond butter, honey and banana. No need for another picture! I ate it in the car on the way to teach a 7 a.m. yoga class.
I was at the gym from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. teaching and shadowing. When I finally made it home I assembled a big salad. Spinach, white cheddar, avocado, edamame, mushrooms, dried cranberries, walnuts and artichoke hearts with homemade lemon honey dijon vinaigrette.
After lunch I caught up on email and blog comments before heading out for a super quick run with Sullie. We covered a little over two miles. Sullie was pooped after and panting and drooling everywhere. I told her that I need to doggie personal train her! ๐
I usually don’t blog snacks but I had to share this one with you. I ate the new Chocolate Dipped Coconut Luna Bar on my way to teach a 4:20 p.m. yoga class and it was awesome. It tasted kind of like a Samoa. Yum!
I finally made it home from teaching BodyPump around 7:30. Brandon had burgers ready for the grill.ย We had organic beef burgers with sharp white cheddar and sauteed mushrooms. Grilled potatoes and peas on the side.
I have a lot of emails to answer and a yoga class to plan. I’m teaching the 90-minute hot vinyasa at Y2 tomorrow morning and the bar is set very high. Off to plan a challenging but thoughtful class!
Are you absolutely starving after teaching 4 classes a day? I wonder how many calories you burn?!
holly – when i teach yoga i do not practice with them. i just walk around the room and assist. the only time i’m actively participating with them is when i teach bodypump!
but being on my feet all day definitely made me hungry and pretty tired!
Interesting! I don’t think I’ve had a teacher who really does that yet. I mean they will often assist but seem to be going through almost all the poses with us in front of us on mat.
๐ Do you plan your class of wing them? Obvi you plan, I used to plan but now that I only teach abs I have 15 exercise that I rotate!
well, for bodypump i teach pre-choreographed classes. i just have to review the music/choreo notes before class. i usually teach the same thing all week.
for yoga it depends. i always at least have a sequence in my head (usually written down). for 90 minute classes i will also plan the warm-up and floor poses.
I don’t eat Luna bars much any more but HOLY COW those are AMAZING. I almost can’t buy them b/c I eat one and want another:) Might as well be a Samoa at that point – Ha!
Hi Jen, I have been a longtime reader of Peanut Butter Runner and finally took the plunge into blogger-hood after being inspired by those like yours! Congrats on the career move, I am in the midst of one myself and while it is scary….it it totally worth it!!!
That is my go-to Luna Bar flavor, I have had one for the last three days ๐ Have you ever tried your bars semi-frozen? I store them in the freezer and then by the time I eat them they are firm, but not frozen.
Cheers, Annie
P.S. Your salads always look AMAZING!
I’m so glad you’re enjoying your transition time and don’t have too much down time. I can’t wait to take your yoga class in a few more months ๐
Great Body Pump class! I’m signed up for BP instructor training in November! ๐
OMG I love the Chocolate Dipped Coconut Luna Bar!!!
I have read several just right stuff here. Definitely value bookmarking for revisiting. I wonder how so much effort you put to make any such great informative website.
