Where did the weekend go!? Why do they pass so quickly!? The highlight of my weekend was definitely seeing my favorite band…again. We counted on the way to the show and it was our eighth time seeing The Avett Brothers! Read previous show recaps here and here. We even met them last fall!
Unfortunately, the weather took a bad turn right before we left for dinner but the Avett’s are worth battling severe thunderstorms.
We donned our rain gear and headed over to Kickstand Burger Bar for pre-show burgers and beer.
I had a black bean burger with chipotle ranch, guacamole and pepper jack cheese on a whole wheat bun with a side salad. And a large Sweetwater 420! ๐
The concert was awesome, as always. The Avett Brothers are from the Charlotte area so anytime they come home it’s always a super high energy but heartfelt show. Love these guys!
Sadly, we came home to find a sick dog. Sullie had an upset tummy and you could tell she felt terrible and guilty that she was sick. It broke my heart. We were up with her several times last night. ๐
How can you be upset with this? (I took this after her bath today!)
I was up and at ’em at 7 a.m. to prep for my first Sunday class at Y2 Yoga. I’m taking over the 90-minute hot class. Hot classes feature longer holds in all of the poses and no chaturangas – more low-key than vinyasa classes but challenging in a different way. Since it was my first time teaching this format, I wanted to have a clear class plan outlined before I went in.
The class went SO well! I received really positive feedback after and I’m finally starting to believe that I can do this yoga teacher thing! ๐ It’s been a struggle because I feel like I’m on autopilot. Yes, I’m saying the right things and yes, the class is hard but I don’t feel like my normal teaching personality is there. Today was a small breakthrough!
The best part about class was having reader Caroline there. She lives in Charleston but was visiting her parents here in Charlotte this weekend and came to my class! Caroline, it was GREAT to meet you!
I stayed for part of an ashtanga class after mine, I was dying to practice, but I had to cut out early because my belly was growling!
I made an open-faced egg sandwich with sliced tomato and cheddar. A really sweet orange, strawberries and pineapple on the side.
After I ate I had to quickly write out another class plan and head to the Y to teach total strength. That tough class wrapped up my marathon week of teaching – SEVEN classes! I am TIRED! With that, I am off to bed. We have clean sheets and I’m ready to collapse.
One last thing. Because I love y’all…I posted the Lemon Coconut Pound Cake recipe on Bakin’ and Eggs.
Make it an amazing week everyone! ๐
Yeah! I can’t wait to make that pound cake. ๐
I hope Sullie is feeling better!
Poor Sullie ๐ She is the cutest dog and I WANT her!! It breaks my heart too when my dog is sick and looks all sad and guilty! It’s not their fault!!
Aaah I wish I could come to one of your classes!! Congrats on your AMAZING teaching skills!! ๐
I love live shows, especially when it’s a hometown band. We are huge fans of a local band and always try to see them when they’re in town. I’m glad it was worth braving the storm!
I love Avett Bros!!!! And you look like one of the detectives on L&O…has anyone told you that before?
No, I haven’t heard that one! Funny though! ๐
Love Kickstand! I just started bootcamp and normally I attend yoga at Yoga One but eventually I am going to have to catch up with you for one of your classes.
Lori – way to go on boot camp! Are you doing it at one of the Ys? I know they’re all kicking off boot camps.
I would LOVE to have you in class sometime! I’m teaching Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.
Hope the pup feels better soon! That’s never fun.
You’re the second blog I’ve read that watched the Avett Brothers this past weekend!
It has been so long since I’ve been to a concert!
Hot yoga might be more low-key, but from my experience, I agree that it is still pretty intense!
Poor Sullie ๐
Poor Sullie- I agree that nothing is more heartbreaking than a sick pup! Hope she’d feeling better now.
After I have this baby, I want to come take one of your yoga classes! I just know you must be a phenomenal teacher!
Jen! I was so excited- I heard the Avett Brothers on the radio for the first time on the way to work this morning. Loved it!
