Guess where I am?
The same place that I am 99% of the time when I go out of town and tell you to guess where. Asheville! I actually haven’t been here since last December so I was due a trip.
I’m actually here for David Keil’s Beyond Basics Yoga Anatomy Workshop. It’s a three-day workshop that is part of Asheville Yoga Center’s 500-hour teacher training. I am not doing my 500 hour (yet – it’s a goal on the near horizon) but the workshop was open to all teachers who were interested. It’s really nice to not only be out of Charlotte but in Asheville on a beautiful weekend and to feel a little like I’m in teacher training again. Yoga continuing education and workshops are my favorite! 🙂
I’m going to write a full recap of the course next week but in the meantime I thought I’d provide you with this look at what a disaster I am from a postural standpoint. Ideally, my ankles, knees, hips, shoulders and head should all be in line. Clearly, I am nowhere close. I look like I’m about to take off in a sprint. Maybe that’s an indicator of how I’m feeling about things right now…ready to bolt at any moment. Kidding… 😉
Today’s sessions started at 8 a.m. so I ate this breakfast in the car and grabbed Starbucks to wake me up!
We had a long lunch break so we headed downtown to enjoy the day and eat. Laughing Seed was a must for delicious vegetarian food (when in Asheville…) and their great patio. Laughing Seed specializes in international vegetarian cuisine and their menu is super interesting and creative.
Started with vegetarian sushi.
And then I had the Laughing Seed Salad which was a huge bowl of veggies with everything from broccoli to grilled tempeh to pumpkin seeds.
The rest of the afternoon was spent in training. Most of what we are doing this weekend is lecture, learning to evaluate people’s postural makeup and movement patterns and working on assists that can help with common movement faults. We did a lot of sitting today so I’m ready to enjoy a mountain run (or better said, a jog huffing up hills) followed by dinner out downtown (which will hopefully include a piece of Unadulterated Carrot Cake ;)).
I’ll be back with more on Asheville tomorrow. Hope y’all are enjoying the weekend.
I love when you go to Asheville…such pretty food pics! enjoy your time 🙂
I have friends in Ashville so I’ve actually been there quite a few times! The Laughing Seed is my ABSOLUTE favorite restaurant in town! I LOVE their Open Market plate and Harmony Bowl…best grilled tofu I’ve ever had at a restaurant!
Asheville is a beautiful city 🙂 That salad looks absolutely incredible!!
Ah, so jealous of your trip and the carrot cake!! Last time we visited we hit up Curate and French Broad….carrot cake, quintessential chocolate cake, and sea salt buttercream cake (all cake to go back to the hotel where we destroyed them all. 🙂 yum yum!
You always have the most beautiful pictures! That salad looks like it puts in quite a good amount of your daily veg ;). Looks delish!
That looks like such a great time. 🙂 Such a beautiful city, enjoy it!
I am so bummed I didn’t go to this! I opted instead for a workshop in DC. However I am so happy you are there in your yoga element. Enjoy!! And belated happy 30th!! You have done so much already!! Goodness. The 30’s are great. It’s a decade of freedom and goodness.
My posture is terrible, but it is definitely better than when I was younger. I used to slump my shoulders because I didn’t like how tall I was! Haha now that seems ridiculous, but I still need some improvement.
Laughing Seed was my favorite place in Asheville when we visited in April!
I’m super curious about my posture now… I feel like I slump
Fun! I haven’t been to Asheville in quite a while. I don’t get up there nearly as much as I should.
