Well…I pretty much fell off the face of the blog planet this weekend. I kind of needed a break from it. Actually, I kind of needed a break from busy life in general. Brandon was gone on a guy’s trip from Wednesday-Sunday so I took the opportunity to do the single girl thing.
I slept. Thursday night I went to bed at 9 p.m. I took multiple naps over the course of the weekend.
I yoga-ed my little booty off. Ashtanga on Thursday, doubles on Friday, doubles on Saturday (3 hours on the mat…yesssss…) and a hot class today.
What I didn’t do? Run. One year ago today I ran the Marine Corps Marathon. I’m currently on an eight-day no run streak but have been on my mat every day. My body is feeling better than ever.
I ate whatever I wanted.
Roasted brussels sprouts, roasted butternut squash and millet.
Egg sandwich with avocado and cheese.
Leftover millet and butternut squash with goat cheese. So good.
I baked. Friday night I had the urge to bake cupcakes and the next thing I knew I was in the kitchen listening to music and drinking wine with flour and frosting everywhere.
Dark chocolate cupcakes with cream cheese frosting.
Halloween party. One of my yoga friends has an amazing Halloween party every year. I procrastinated on my costume but my friend Rachael came through for me…big time….and let me borrow a costume.
Enter Wonder Woman. Love. Love. Love. And yes my “lasso of truth” was more “whip of truth” but more effective right? 😉 The party was so much fun. I haven’t dressed up for Halloween in years! I kind of OD’d on costumes/dressing in college due to the ridiculous amount of sorority events that required it.
Did anyone else go to Halloween parties this weekend? What did you dress up as?
And that’s all I’ve got. Promise to be a better blogger this week. But we all need a step back sometimes, right?
Looks like a great weekend to me 🙂
I went to an 80 ‘s costume party and since I was born in the 80’s I went as something I remember from the 80’s that I liked – Punky Brewster.
love it! it’s great to be a child of the 80s 😉
Glad to see you had a nice relaxing weekend!! Those cupcakes look so good!
I didn’t have any parties this weekend, I had to work. 🙁
It’s always a good thing to take a break every once in awhile from computers and running. Gives you a chance to take care of other things and let your body rest.
I love the costume! I didn’t go to a party, but I ran a 5k where zombies chase you throughout the course. I definitely had a personal record on that one! haha
sounds like a really fun 5K! 🙂
I usually try to post 5 times a week but sometimes I say “screw it.” Everyone needs a break from time to time.
I was/am a hippie chick for Halloween.
I had squash this weekend too. And I have millet at home I need to cook. I have not tried it before!
Have a good week 🙂
agreed. sometimes a break feels good!
love your costume idea. i am actually not a huuuggee fan of millet. i prefer couscous or quinoa. it’s not quite as soft and fluffy but nice to mix it up sometimes.
good week to you too! 🙂
Cute costume!! Sounds like you had a great weekend. I always feel awesome when I do a lot of yoga 🙂
Wonder woman is a great costume for you! Glad you had a good weekend. 🙂
thanks! it was really fun!
Great costume!
As always, I am loving on your open faced sandwich!!!
I unplug from the blog every Friday until Monday and it feels great 🙂
thanks! it was fun!
i love the open faced sandwiches…and the fact that you unplug from the blog every weekend. so nice!
I hope you also took a minute to savor a UGA victory 😉
um, yes! GO DAWGS!
Your eats look amazing, especially that avocado and egg sammie. I love the Wonder Woman look, ow oww!
it’s one of my favorite combos!
thanks for the costume props! 🙂
Jen, looked like a great weekend to me – and the costume looked GREAT on you! So glad it worked 🙂 hopefully, I can fit into it again next year; but if not, feel free! 🙂 xo
rachel – wonder woman was a huuuugggee hit. so much fun!
you look like an exact replica of her hair and all! 😀
Fun! I enjoy costume parties, so I made sure I found something to dress up for over the weekend.
Looks like a fun weekend! Love the costume:) I didn’t dress up this year, but I still like seeing what everyone else’s costumes were.
Cute costume! I have looked for Wonder Woman before but never wanted to shell out the $60+ for the ones I found. I went to a party this weekend as Rainbow Brite! Fun! And I love that you enjoyed your “single girl” time ~ I totally get that, with Joe’s work keeping him away so regularly…I LOVE my time to myself and it just makes me that much more excited to get to hang with him when I do! And good for you for unplugging for the weekend. So nice, isn’t it?
… and to think I suggested going as a ‘marathoner’ via Twitter! You just took WonderWoman up a notch! 🙂
Your friend looks like she could be your sister. Cute gals!
