I set my alarm for 5:30 this morning with plans to go to a yoga class before work. When the alarm went off I decided to sleep until 6:15 and test out my hamstring with an easy run instead. I set out with Sullie for an easy, slow three-miler…and I’m sad to report that I could feel the hamstring pain the whole time. I was happy just to be out there though.
Let’s not dwell on that. I’m still thinking positively. I’m feeling no pain other than when I run so that’s a step in the right direction.
Skipping ahead to lunch.
I picked up new Trader Joe’s brand veggie burgers yesterday and tested one out for lunch today. The verdict? It had a much different taste than the Amy’s burgers that I usually buy but in a good way. These burgers are not bean based. The only real complaint that I had was that the texture was a little mushy and it squished out the sides a little when I bit into the bun.
After work I had another appointment for my hamstring. I experienced my first ever chiropractic adjustment. It was quick and painless. I did learn that one of my legs was slightly longer than the other due to my hip unevenness so we worked on that a bit. Also, apparently I am just one ball of tightness – why do I carry around so much tension!? After the adjustment I had more electrotherapy.
Then this happened.
I was in need of a yoga practice in a bad way. I longed to be on my mat all day. I went to a hot vinyasa class (it was totally cleared by the doctor at my appointment) and just took a lot of modifications, used a block and didn’t do anything that hurt even slightly. I felt a million times better when I left. I sweated out a lot of stress and anxiety and just tried to reconnect with my body.
Dinner tonight was leftover shaksuka.
I know the picture isn’t stellar. I need to set up a light box since we eat so late and it’s getting dark earlier. The shaksuka was even better tonight – the flavors had really developed.
Hope you all had a great day. We’re over the hump and the weekend is in sight! 😀
Yay! I’m sorry about the run, but it sounds like you’re on the road to recovery. I’m glad you finally got to do some yoga, I know you missed it. Fingers crossed that you keep healing!
I’m sorry about your hamstring, I hope it gets better.
Thank you, Cyndi! It’s feeling better every day!
bc of vacation i’m SO behind on my google reader so i’m just now reading about your hamstring. ugh injuries suck and i can totally relate. i’m good this time around but last summer i tried to train for a marathon and was forced to stop thanks to knee pain. i had all sorts of imbalance and tightness issues and seriously thought my running days were over. hang in there!!
