Hello from Bald Head Island!
Bald Head Island is a barrier island located right off the North Carolina coast near Wilmington. It’s 5.8 square miles and they do not allow cars on the island – golf carts only. Sullie and I ferried over yesterday afternoon. It was Sullie’s first boat ride and she was so cute about it. When the boat starting moving she immediately nudged her way under my legs and forced me to drape them over her. Eventually she chilled out a bit and enjoyed the short ride over to the island. She’s such a laid back/go with the flow dog and was a wonderful travel partner yesterday despite my throwing her in the car on a boat in in a golf cart!
We arrived on the island and took a tram to the house where all of my friends are staying. They have all been here since Saturday so it was a little overwhelming to walk into a small house with 12 people and 3 dogs. I am sleeping on an air mattress but at least we can see the ocean from the porch and I’m in the company of good friends.
Last night we went to a get together at the bride’s house for close friends and family. The house they rented is beautiful and right on the beach with huge porches.
Dinner was a southern spread. I had fried chicken, baked beans, a biscuit, mac and cheese and salad. I also had some peach cobbler later in the night.
We enjoyed a beautiful sunset before walking back to the house on the beach. A walk was needed after that delicious meal! A group went out to an after party but I was exhausted and opted for sleep. I think I was out by midnight but word around the house this morning is that some were up until 5 a.m. How I slept though that, I have no idea. Guess I was really tired!
I just ate a piece of banana bread with peanut butter and banana. I can’t complain about my morning breakfast/blog scenery, huh? Okay, off to take advantage of the day. I’d like to get a run in and then we have nail appointments and beach time waiting.
Wow these photos are stunning! I love the first pic with you and the pup on the boat. I’m officially craving peach cobbler for breakfast now <3
What beautiful scenery! Enjoy your vacation, you deserve it : )
Oh gosh there’s nothing like a beautiful beach sunset and walk! You’re making me want to go to Maine this weekend! Have fun!
I love Bald Head Island! One of my MFA classes went on a little retreat there last fall – it was so beautiful.
Also, I live in Wimington! If you’re passing through and need someone to take you on a lunch or dinner date, let me know. Wilmington is a pretty awesome place. (I hope that doesn’t sound creepy – I promise I’m not a serial killer or anything.) ๐
Show me more! I’ll be there for the first time in a couple weeks and can’t wait! ๐

I really enjoy reading your blog everyday. You always make me inspired to continue my healthy path towards life. I have been struggling with an eating disorder for several years and it has been a very rough time. However, this summer I have been eating a lot better and excercising which helps me feel and understand why healthy living is SO important. Keep up the awesome work with your blog ๐ You are very inspiring.
