Happy New Year’s Eve! Mine is going to be pretty wild and crazy with an early baby bedtime, a 7p social at my parent’s condo development and plans to be in bed reading by 10. I’m hoping to snooze through the clock striking midnight.
Related, I’m reading Kristin Hannah’s “The Great Alone” and I can’t put it down so I’m excited about my NYE reading plans. 😉
When I was booking my holiday travel, I knew I wanted to be in Florida with my family for New Year’s Eve and Day so that I could end the year and start a new one with them. Huge bonus that my nieces are here too and my whole immediate family is together. <3
I didn’t think it was really necessary this year to write a post recapping 2018. I think everyone is clear on the highs and lows of this year and I’m ready to focus on a fresh, new 2019!

I got a few sets of dumbbells and a kettlebell for Christmas so be on the lookout for more simple, minimal-equipment home workouts from me in 2019! I know y’all love those.
HAPPY NEW YEAR FRIENDS! To wrap it up, I’d love to hear the fitness/workout accomplishment you’re most proud of from 2018 and a goal you have for 2019!
I was diagnosed as a Type 1 diabetic at the age of 34 at the end of 2017, so my biggest fitness accomplishment in 2018 was trying to figure out how to be active as a yoga teacher/yogi, a runner, and lover of all things fitness. Just when I thought I had it figured out and was training for a triathlon, I got in a bike accident on a training run in July and broke my elbow and a rib. I started walking and then jogging again, and by mid-October, I ran a half marathon – my first in about 5 years. Some days feel incredibly challenging, but as a long time reader, I always enjoyed coming back to your posts and workouts which provided equal amounts of inspiration to keep moving forward. Thank you, Jen, and cheers to 2019!
I loved The Great Alone! Have you read The Nightingale? I read it first and liked it so much I read The Great Alone. Have you read any of her other books? I’m trying to figure out which one to try next.
Totally unrelated to NY, but I just wanted to mention how much I’ve loved your documentation of pregnancy and the postpartum period. I’m also in the yoga and fitness industry and I’m pregnant with my first – a boy! – due May 2nd so I love going back in your archives and seeing what was going on for you, how you were modifying workouts, and what your bump looked like as we seem to have pretty similar body types. Seeing Finn now, I always think to myself “that’s what my guy will be doing a year from now” which is crazy! Thank you again for being so open!
I also had a tough 2018 and I’m most proud that I kept up with my workouts during the roughest days. In fact, they helped me through the tough times because they helped me clear my mind and made me feel strong.
I wish you a wonderful New Year! May 2019 be an amazing year for all! Thank you for all the great workouts you post, and for being so open in your posting. Your words have touched me and helped me many times this year.
I pinned some of these to do while the boys are sleeping! I’m finally feeling ready to get in some harder workouts.
Here’s the new beginnings in 2019!!
2019 goals = strength training + stretching. I love running and need zero motivation to get outside for a run. But I need to dig deep to do weights/abs/stretching. Hopefully making it a 2019 goal will bring on some motivation!
I’d love to see some high intensity kettle bell/home gym workouts! I just picked up some kettlebells today! Thanks, Jen!
Omg all these great PBR workouts in one post! What a great! Thank you for this and for all of your posts in 2018.
Here’s to a joyful, meaningful 2019!
What size dumbbells and KB did you get? I just had a baby and am building a mini home gym. Look forward to more home based workouts from you. Thanks for this roundup!
