Good morning! I hope everyone’s long weekend is off to a good start (and I hope you all get to enjoy a long weekend!). We kicked off our weekend with sushi and wine so I can’t complain.
Cyros is our favorite sushi restaurant in Charlotte. We heard that they haven’t been serving alcohol recently but that you could bring your own wine with no corkage fee. I got the scoop from our server last night…apparently there were two owners and one bought the other out. Anytime there is more than a 25% change in ownership, restaurants have to reapply for their liquor license. It was a win for us because we ended up spending the same amount on a bottle that we would have on a single glass!
We started out with a seaweed salad before the sushi extravaganza happened.
I seriously love the sushi at Cyros. They have inventive and delicious combinations. Here’s what we were working with left to right…
– Volcanic: calamari and cucumber on the inside, spicy tuna and spicy mayo on the outside
– Avant Garde: Cyros’ signature roll with tuna, crab and avocado on the inside and topped with two spicy sauces, fried shallots and garlic and then flash baked. Life changing, I tell you. We order this one every time!
– Philly: nothing fancy here…just a generous portion of smoked salmon, cream cheese and avocado
– Shrimp Tempura: crab, tempura shrimp and cucumber on the inside, roe and spicy mayo on the outside
I left with belly full and my sushi craving satisfied.
Do you like sushi? What’s your favorite kind?
We actually only had one glass each of the wine we brought because we had plans after dinner to meet Caitlin, Nicole and Diana + their boys at The Wine Shop for drinks. I didn’t bring my camera in but it was a lovely evening of good conversation and delicious wine.

Brandon and I selected a very interesting bottle of Cabernet Franc. The label is a bit creepy, huh?
“The Keeper” Cabernet Franc by Corvidae. It was everything I love in a red wine – big, bold and earthy with just a touch of fruit. I love red wines with complex, rich flavors. Unfortunately, it’s available in small supply. An employee told me they only received one case and will not get more until this Fall.
I was up at 6:30 this morning and ready to head to yoga. I attended a 90 minute superflow class – hot, hot, hot room+ repeating the flow sequence three times = intense! I pretty much left my soul in a puddle of sweat on my yoga mat. It was glorious.
Green monster to refuel after class – spinach, banana, blueberries, plain greek yogurt, vanilla recovery protein powder, soy milk, ice.
Off to tackle errands and a long to-do list around the house!
I don’t know how you do it!!
That looks amazing! I posted a pic of my sushi dinner from Thursday night and it was SOOOO good.
I am totally craving some sushi!!!!
You’re my sushi twin Jen! That’s exactly what I would have ordered! Still haven’t been to Cyros! We must go together sometime!

That sushi looks AMAZING!!!!
I’m just now getting into sushi. I can do spicy tuna and maybe crab filled. I usually stick to the veggie rolls though. 🙂
