My very sweet niece (and goddaughter!) is turning one on Saturday!
Of course, I volunteered for cake duty but with this comes much indecision. I always drive myself crazy trying to pick out the perfect thing. For Emerson’s 2nd birthday (my older niece) last February, I made butterfly cupcakes. They were a huge hit.
Here are some ideas I have for Scarlett’s first birthday. Help me decide what direction I should go. My sister in law definitely wants to go with cupcakes but I’m struggling with picking out a design and flavors.

(source – I would do pigs and frogs together – pink and green!)

This is what happens when I take an unplanned rest day. Instead of working out, I’ve been obsessing over finding the perfect cake for Scarlett’s birthday party! Help me……..
Breakfast today was Banana Pumpkin Oatmeal. It was even tastier than usual because I had a nearly empty almond butter jar to eat it in!
I picked up a loaf of Great Harvest Whole Grain Goodness on my lunch break and came home to make a tasty sandwich.
Spicy mustard, mayo, avocado, sharp cheddar, sprouts and spinach on Whole Grain Goodness. Baby carrots, pears and Goldfish on the side. The Goldfish were a total impulse buy at the grocery this week. They spoke to me…”Gotta love fishes cause they’re so delicious…” 😀
I bailed on my easy run this evening. I’m still sniffling and coughing a bit so I decided to just come home and chill with the DVR. Dinner was leftover Incredulada Enchiladas from Monday’s dinner. (On another enchilada note check out these seriously amazing “red” chicken enchiladas I just posted to Bakin’ and Eggs last night.)
And I’m off to prepare for tomorrow. Busy, busy day that starts with an ashtanga practice, then a busy day at work and finally teaching BodyPump!
The piglet cupcakes are adorable!
I personally like the cupcakes! I think individual little cakes are much more fun! Good Luck! 🙂
Loving those piglet cupcakes!!!!
I love all the cupcake photos you posted, and the image of a one-year-old tearing into a cupcake seems like a good one. 🙂
I know, I will be sure to post pictures! 🙂
You are so creative!!! Those cupcakes are amazing. I think I like the frogs and pigs the best. Too cute!
I love the froggies! All of these are really cute.
I love the frogs and the little birds nests! I also saw a super cute idea about a caterpillar made from cupcakes!
The piglet cupcakes are sooo cute, Jen! By the way it was so good seeing you at Rach’s jewelry party. I hope you guys have a great weekend!
Being a piglet myself, I’m partial to the piggies and frogs idea. Anything you bake is going to turn out amazing though! Those butterflies are the bomb-diggity!
The pigs/frogs are adorable! Seriously, I would love those…and I’m 24. 🙂
I absolutely love those piglet cupcakes and am saving that link for my daughter’s next birthday! Also, would you mind linking or sharing how you made the butterfly cupcakes? They’re adorable.
I would definitely do the piglet and frog cupcakes. They’re adorable.
First of all – I love your blogs! This is my first comment. I like the baby blue birds, but it looks like I am outnumbered. Another suggestion – pink lady bugs. I made some for my niece’s baby shower this past spring. You can make the antennae the same way you make them for the butterfly cupcakes.
Thanks Amanda! I love baby blue birds too. Pink lady bugs sound so cute and girly!
the little piglets, totally.
I like the piglets and frogs, I think they are cute.
I love the piglets! I like how the nose stands out from the rest of the cupcake and the cute pink sprinkled ears! Too cute!! I do have to say that I like the frogs also! I can’t wait to see what you decide on and how they turn out! I know they will be super cute 🙂
The butterfly cupcakes are gorgeous! So professional! After seeing those, I’m sure whatever you choose will be perfect. I love the baby birds. Very sweet.
You’re so talented! Those cupcakes are adorable… I vote for the frogs and piggies! 🙂
My vote is for the frogs and pigs. So cute! Although, I love the baby birds too. I debated those for Camille’s first bday. Martha has some great ideas. Please let us know which one you decide on!
