I tried so hard to resist it. Ignored the media, ignored all of my friends comments on Facebook and Twitter, even ignored my own husband’s rave review.
Today, there was no stopping this craving.
Oh yes. That would be the new Chick-Fil-A Spicy Chicken Sandwich. Let’s look at it and all its deliciousness a little closer up.
I rarely eat fast food and if I do Chick-Fil-A is about as far as I will go. This was totally worth the splurge and lived up to all the hype. I thought the sandwich had the perfect spice level – just enough for a slow and steady burn. SO.GOOD.
Since I was there I decided to get really crazy and ordered a Coke Zero. I’ve had one soda in six+ months so I figured I could get away with it today. The shining star of my decision making was ordering a side salad instead of fries. But I’ll let you guess if my hands wandered over to Brandon’s fries a couple times. ๐
It was worth it. That’s all I’m going to say!
Now, let’s rewind. I had to teach BodyPump after work last night. Class was awesome – great energy from the members last night. Love classes like that – everyone was working hard!
I hurried home to get ready for Brandon’s birthday festivities. The birthday boy chose sushi so we decided to use one of our restaurant.com certificates for Cyros. This was our third trip to Cyros and it is definitely, 100% our new favorite place for sushi in Charlotte.
We started off with a seaweed salad. I swear, I can’t eat sushi anymore without ordering a seaweed salad.
And here is our sushi masterpiece. All three of the rolls we selected were outstanding.
You can really tell that Cyros uses high-quality fish and ingredients. Their sushi is just so inventive and fresh tasting. The service is a bit slow but we don’t mind long dinners and this sushi is worth the wait! Charlotte-area readers, Cyros is a must try!
We were hoping to go out for a drink and dessert after sushi but by the time we got done everywhere had stopped serving dessert. We ended up at the bar at M5.
Louis Martini Cab = love. And a fun tidbit of information. Brandon informed me that Rick Flair was also sitting at the bar (I never would have recognized him!).
We were late getting in bed last night and my 5:40 a.m. wake up call for hot yoga this morning was not fun. But I was motivated to get moving because I was meeting my sister in law, Alicia, for class. It was her first hot vinyasa class (and first class at Y2) and she was awesome. She really hung in there! She’s been enjoying beginner-level classes at the YMCA and I convinced her to try Y2. At one point in the class she looked over at me and said, “this is nothing like the YMCA.”ย Hoping I can convert her to a hot yoga fanatic. I need yoga buddies and I want my friends and family to love it as much as I do.
Uh, I admit that I had to take child’s a couple times during this morning’s class. My late night caught up with me. I was not in top yogi form. ๐
These oats and some coffee made everything right in my world after class.
1/3 cup oats, 2 tablespoons Bob’s Red Mill 10-Grain Hot Cereal, pinch salt, 1/2 cup almond milk, 1/2 cup water, half banana, chia seeds, blueberries, dried cranberries. Almond butter and jam on top.
And that’s all I’ve got for you!
Are you a sushi lover? What is your favorite type of roll?
I adore sushi. My favorite kinds aren’t on the Monterrey Bay Aquarium’s sustainable seafood list, though. Sadness!
I have been meaning to try that chicken sandwich, too. I am so glad it got a healthy blogger’s approval ๐ I usually only do fast food on road trips and it’s either Chick or Subway. But I’m going to have to make a special trip for that sandwich!
Glad your hubby had a good birthday!
Ooooooh, I love sushi and have not been to Cyros! That looks delicious! We should do a blogger meet-up there sometime! Also, back before running became my primary workout I used to be pretty big into to Yoga (I loved power yoga!). I opted for running over Yoga because it’s free and knew more people to run with than to do Yoga with, but I’m kind of getting the itch to get back into Yoga and I think it would be good for my running. Let me know if you want company at a class sometime ๐
I am really itching to try this sandwich. The next time I can hit up a chick-fil-a, I plan to. Although, I would have ordered the light lemonade and their carrot raisin salad. YUM.
You know I love sushi! The spider roll and the rainbow roll are some of my favs. Glad you had a fun time with the bday boy!
I’m a sushi fan as well, and we fortunately live right across from a pretty good Japanese place. I love BBQ eel with avocado.
And now I really want the Chick-Fil-A spicy chicken sandwich! That looks so good!
i MUST try that place! i’m searching for a sushi joint for my birthday, and i’m in love with veggie makizushi. any place that can sub brown rice in is even better… i’ll have to see if they can – though cyros already looks epic!
