This is part two of our fun weekend in Charleston. Catch up on part one here.
Saturday night we had dinner reservations at SNOB. Charleston has an incredible restaurant scene and we always struggle with choosing where to eat. We hadn’t dined at SNOB in years so we decided to visit again.
We arrived a little early for our 9:15 reservations so we enjoyed a cocktail at the bar while we waited for our table.
Dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a dirty martini and it was so good.
I was thrilled when we were seated with a clear view of the open kitchen.
I love restaurants with open kitchens. I think it’s so fun to watch the action in the kitchen and to see all of the food come out.
We ordered wine and checked out the menu. We decided to order an appetizer, “medium plate” and entree and split everything. We started with a salad.
Arugula, apples, blue cheese, grilled onions and toasted pecans with a sweet balsamic dressing.
Our medium plate was Stuffed Carolina Quail.
Cornbread tasso stuffing, buttermilk fried leg, sautéed spinach, port wine reduction. Served with sauteed spinach.
At the recommendation of our server, we selected the rack of lamb as our entree.
Lamb with green beans, grits, pearl onions and a cabernet rosemary sauce. This was so delicious!
Dessert was the “South of Broad Classic.”
Rum and chocolate custards layered on Oreo cookie crust.
Our dinner at SNOB did not disappoint and was just as good as the last time we dined there. One of my favorite things about trips to Charleston is the food. Such an amazing foodie city!
After dinner, we drove back to Isle of Palms and promptly crashed in our comfortable king-sized bed. I slept soundly until about 8 a.m. We awoke to discover another beautiful day with perfect weather.
Brandon and I both went for runs this morning. He got Vibrams for Christmas and has been digging them. He decided to run on the beach in his Vibrams. I was super impressed! He said he covered 3-4 miles in them and is definitely feeling it in his calves and hips.
I ran a beautiful five miles. Four around the resort and one on the beach. The sand was flat and packed. I loved every second of my run. The temperature was perfect. I was able to run in shorts and a long-sleeved shirt.
Our last order of business for our trip was lunch at Poe’s.
Poe’s is located on Sullivan’s Island and is a must every time we visit Charleston.
They are known for their burgers and fish tacos.
Brandon always goes for the burgers and I usually order fish tacos.
He went all out today and ordered a burger with pimento cheese, bacon and an egg. Of course I sampled quite a few of his fries. 😉
I had the mahi tacos. Everything was great, as always! The best part of the meal was that we were able to sit outside. We just really couldn’t have asked for better weather in Charleston this weekend.
We decided to walk out to the beach after lunch before getting in the car to head back to Charlotte.
We were so sad to leave our happy place but it was a wonderful quick getaway. We are so lucky to only be three hours away!
We made one final stop on our way out…
Menchies! Can you guess his and hers?
We’re back in Charlotte now and I have tomorrow off of work. I am planning on doubling up on yoga classes tomorrow morning and then just running errands and getting things done around the house.
Hope you all had a great weekend! Is anyone else off tomorrow? If so, what are your plans?
I’m off tomorrow 🙂 I’ll probably be running errands (grocery store, Best Buy) and then going to a Boston blogger party at night! Only if I can get this darn cough under control. Have you ever tried Yogi throat comfort tea?
Boston blogger party? Sounds fun! Can’t wait to read about it! I’m sorry that you are sick. 🙁 I have tried the Yogi Tea Throat Comfort (it was part of the cold season sampler). I thought it was okay but didn’t love all the licorice in it. I like the Immunity Support tea though!
sadly not off tomorrow…i work at a hospital and we will not be closed. i LOVE menchies! im guessing hers on the left and his on the right 🙂
I love love love Charleston! 😀
Looks like an amazing weekend!
I’m off tomorrow! I don’t have plans except I have my new treadmill getting delivered to the house so I am so pumped! Charleston is a great place…I haven’t been in so long and really need to visit asap!
Um, awesome that you are getting your own treadmill. How convenient is that!?
Great weekend! I am not off today 🙁
Sounds like a fun time. We try to make it to SNOB when we go to Charleston each summer, but the one restaurant we refuse to miss out on is Peninsula Grill. If you have never eaten there, you have to go next time you are in town. One of the best restaurants in the entire world!
We have always wanted to try Peninsula Grill. I know it’s supposed to be so amazing. I am dying to have their famous coconut cake.
Gorgeous! It’s great that you have one more day to unwind after returning to work. Enjoy!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Snob’s blue cheese stuffed olives. Makes for the best maritni around! glad you enjoyed your visit, the weather really was perfect for you!
Thanks Kerr – the blue cheese olives were pretty amazing! 😉
Love this city! Must go back soon!
You are sooo pretty! 🙂
You are sooooo amazingly sweet. Miss you!
Hey Jen! My husband and I honeymooned in Charleston, SC (over a year ago) and we have missed it ever since! We loved SNOB and Forrest had the fish tacos at Poe’s. I’m so jealous you guys are a hop, skip, and jump away from Charleston!
We always say that if we can’t live in Charleston again that we are happy to only be three hours away! What a fun honeymoon destination!
I saw Poe’s was on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on the Foodnetwork! I love a good fish taco — and those look delicious! (Do you ever go to Cabo Fish Taco in Charlotte?)
Btw, I love your boots — can you tell me the style/brand?
I’ve only been to Cabo Fish Taco once and it was really good. We need to go back soon!
My boots are sooooo old. I got them when we lived in Charleston over five years ago! Believe it or not, they are from Liz Claiborne. Random, I know.
ahhh this totally convinces me that we need to go to Charleston for our vaca in March!! I’m all about foodie towns!! 🙂
