I have a non-green smoothie recipe to share with you featuring two of my favorite flavor combinations.
1) Chocolate and peanut butter
2) Strawberry and banana
It’s also my first time sharing a smoothie bowl recipe with you so it’s like a whole new smoothie game today! 🙂
For the last nine months or so I have been all about putting my smoothies in a bowl or a cup, throwing some toppings on them and eating them with a spoon. It makes my smoothie feel more like a meal and the toppings give it a little extra staying power.
The ingredients for this smoothie are pretty simple but work so well together. Cocoa powder + peanut butter is just a no brainer of deliciousness, frozen strawberries and bananas makes for a cold and thick smoothie bowl, the date adds sweetness and the Silk Soymilk blends it all together and makes everything creamy.
I almost exclusively buy Silk non-dairy milks for my smoothies. My favorites are the Unsweetened Original Soymilk, Unsweetened Almond Milk and the Silk Almond Coconut Blend. Recently I tried the new Cashewmilk and I really like it too! You can check out a video tutorial of how I make my smoothies in this post and read about my favorite ways to use the Almond Coconut Blend in this post.
I like using Silk milks because they they taste good, offer a variety of flavors, feature as much or more calcium than milk, are low in calories, have plant-based protein and are free of GMOs, artificial flavors and artificial colors.
I topped this smoothie bowl with my homemade Peanut Butter & Chia Seed Granola and sliced bananas. I don’t add cocoa powder to my smoothies very often but it was a really welcome addition here. It added so much depth of flavor and richness to the smoothie bowl. This combination would be amazing not only for breakfast but also as an afternoon snack or even a dessert.

What is your favorite “unexpected” smoothie ingredient? Have you tried smoothie bowls yet? What are your favorite toppings?

Love smoothie bowls! I usually eat mine in a bowl and at the very least, always use a spoon plus toppings! Definitely feels more like a meal for me this way!
I like to put granola and or pomegranate seeds on top of my smoothies and eat them with a spoon. Also I sometimes have spinach that I didn’t use fast enough go bad… Now I put my spinach for my smoothies in the freezer as well and I don’t have to worry about it going to waste.
I love smoothie bowls! They seem so much more satisfying when they are thicker and can be eaten with a spoon instead of through a straw!
Have you tried their cashew milk? It’s to die for!!
Can’t to try this! Have all the ingredients too which never happens!
I love using a spoon for my smoothies too – feels more like a meal!
I still haven’t tried a smoothie bowl, but this looks sooo good 🙂 I need to try that granola recipe!
ahhh this looks so refreshing! Perfect for summer 🙂
