Today was a great day. I have been working on the 2013 plan for the gym for the past few weeks. I presented it yesterday and the meeting went really well. The plan couldn’t have been better received. I am so excited to kick off a new year and have a solid plan/strategy to work from. It’s always easier to work proactively than to work in reaction mode.
I took today off to relax and get some personal stuff done. I had not even started Christmas shopping and that was hanging over my head big time. I kicked off the day bright and early by subbing the 6 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. classes at Y2. I seriously can’t think of a better way to start my day off than by teaching eager, giving and energetic yogis. It totally set the tone for my day.
I ate an egg and cheese bagel during my break between classes. And one of my sweet friends brought me a soy latte from Starbucks as a holiday treat. A very good morning! ๐
Lunch was a Mexican quinoa bowl. I cooked up a big batch of Mexican quinoa and ย have been eating this or turkey pitas for lunch for the past week week. I finished up the last of the quinoa today. I usually eat it in bowl form with spinach on the bottom and avocado, salsa and Greek yogurt or sour cream on the top and then scoop it all up with tortilla chips. Yum.
I hit up Target and Bed, Bath and Beyond to knock out some Christmas gifts and then baked a batch of fudge brownies with salted caramel swirl in preparation for Kelly’s Cookies and Cocktails party.
I have been looking forward to this party for weeks. I love holiday cookie parties! I told my BodyPump class tonight that we had to work hard and get it done so I could go eat cookies for dinner.
I arrived at the party to find an awesome spread of savory and sweet snacks.
I made myself eat the savory snacks first. There were meatballs, tofu chicken salad cups, dips, veggies and flatbreads. I had a little of everything (several varying plates like the above for those of you who think that what I picture is exactly what I ate ;)) before moving on to the sweet stuff.
The sweet stuff was good. This was the best holiday cookie party I have ever attended from a treats perspective. Let me show you…
Santa sugar cookies.
Chocolate chip cookies with caramel and nuts.
Layered brownie squares.
Cakeballs!!!
An array of yumminess here.
My FAVORITE cookies of the night…cranberry pecan oatmeal dipped in white chocolate.
There were other cookies that I didn’t capture but I did bring home quite a sampler platter! Kelly (left) did a great job hosting and offered a hot chocolate bar and champagne punch. It was perfect! And I loved hanging out with super cute pregnant Brittneyย (right).
A day off and cookies for dinner. I’m a happy girl. ๐ ๐ ๐
So many cookies. Dying.
I have a question for you! I’m home from college for a month and live in Nashville. I know lots of gyms and studios do $100 for an unlimited month of classes, so I was wondering if you think it would be most worth it to get a membership to a yoga studio or something more like Pure Barre or Bar Method? I think the gym closest to me is going to be a little too pricey.
Wow. What an amazing spread!! Glad you had a day off:) congrats on the 2013 plan too! They must love you at the gym!!!
Those cookies look so yummy!
Yum is all I can say! That holiday party looked like it was so much fun ๐ Happy Holidays!
WOW! Very impressive looking cookies and I would have to agree that the last ones look the best. How was your sugar high? Happy Friday and have a fabulous weekend! ๐
That looks like my kind of party! ๐
Last year I participated in a cookie swap and it’s definitely something I would love to do again.
Have a wonderful Christmas Jen!!
Congrats on your gym plan going so well! Those brownies look amazing, as does the rest of those sweet treats!
What fun! I think those would have been my favorite cookies too!
Jen, I know you took the day off to decide what to get me this year because I am so hard to shop for and I really don’t need anything (except the Big Green Egg that I am purchasing in spring). The only Christmas gift for me from Jen that I am wishing for is for Jen to keep blogging on a daily basis, your blog brings me tons of enjoyment every day!!! Best Wishes for 2013….
I would love the recipe for the cranberry pecan oatmeal dipped in white chocolate.
Oh, those cookies look delicious! Especially the cake balls!
Looks like a good cookie haul, Jen! I love those Santa Sugar Cookies, how cute!
What a great idea! Those cookies all look so delicious.
Congrats on the plan being a success! That is great news! Man, all those treats look amazing, I’m glad you had a great time!
Cookies for dinner? Not too shabby! ๐
