I cannot even begin to thank you enough for all of your kind comments on my Ashtanga 101 + Backbend Video post. I want to reply to all of them and answer your questions but I’m having problems with the comment replies and threading ever since I switched to the new design. Promise that I will get back to those of you who asked questions!
Also, I hear you loud and clear. More video posts! I actually would like to start doing one per week about various topics…yoga, workouts, exercise form, food tips, etc. so stay tuned!
I have a busy couple of days ahead of me. Personal training clients and yoga privates all afternoon today and then I’m heading to Cary, North Carolina tomorrow for BodyPump Advanced Instructor Training. I am so excited I can hardly stand it. I will definitely be writing a post about my experience.
Before I take off to plan for my PT clients, let me give you a quick look at some recent eats…
Apple cinnamon oatmeal…oats, oat bran, ground flax, honey crisp apples, raisins, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla soy and water cooked together and served in a TJs PB jar and topped with apple butter.
Wild Squirrel Pretzel Pizzaz peanut butter, banana and honey on 12-grain.
Spinach salad topped with a Trader Joe’s veggie burger. Also in the mix…avocados, lots of goat cheese, green apples, carrots, almonds and dried cranberries. Dressing was homemade honey lemon dijon and whole wheat naan on the side.
Yesterday afternoon I went on a cookie baking extravaganza. I teach Wednesday AM and PM but usually have the afternoons free. It was rainy and gross out so I huddled up inside, baked and cleaned the house. It was so nice. I made a batch of oatmeal pumpkin cookies and mixed in chocolate chips in one half and cranberries and white chocolate chips in the other. SO GOOD. Recipe to be posted soon on Bakin’ and Eggs!
The best part about cookie baking? I took two big plates of them to the studio last night for my yogis as a treat! They were a hit…and very much deserved after my yogis made it through a super hot, sweaty and challenging class! ๐
Alright, it’s prep time for my afternoon sessions! Have a great day everyone!
The cookies would definitely have been awesome motivation for me to get to yoga! Also, I remember you mentioning a while back that you’d do a post on your results from wearing your heart rate monitor during yoga. I know yoga is about so much more than the burn, but I’d be very curious to hear your findings. Thanks!
phew…first vinyasa class in a while and i was FEELING it – was such a treat to leave with a cookie in had (ps i’m totally on the soft baked side of the cookie debate, and yours were perfect)!
Ohhh those cookies look so good!!!
I cant’ wait to hear about the advanced instructor training. Sounds so fancy! ๐
There is nothing better than a good ol’ pb & j ๐
I would so go to yoga if there were cookies at the end!
All of your eats look so delicious! ๐
Yoga plus cookies really is perfect! I can’t wait to read the post about your advanced training. I love getting a peek into the life of a personal trainer and fitness instructor.
Cookies and yoga. You genius, you.
=)
I just saw your video and it was amazing! I think I discovered the pigeon pose (I hope that is the name?) on your blog as you said it was good for runners…Any videos with yoga would be great, especially for people who are beginners! But it was a very inspiring video, I really want to put yoga in my routine!
I kind of figured you were the best yoga teacher ever (and I cannot wait to take your class soon!), but now you definitely are! Who brings cookies to their students? You’re so sweet, Jen ๐
Jen, I’ve been reading your blog since the beginning of this summer. I would love to come to your yoga class, but alas, I’m in Eugene, Oregon. Too funny though, I’m baking cookies right now and doing yoga between batches. I just happened to check my e-mail and your blog, what good timing. Cookies + yoga, indeed a delight!
