This was a good weekend full of friends, downtime, puppy love, yoga and cooking. All of my favorite things.
I stayed in on Friday night and cooked dinner. I had some beautiful salmon but wanted to try a new method of preparing it. I browsed through some cookbooks and then remembered I had Pinned a recipe for Sriracha and lime salmon forever ago. I kind of glanced at the recipe and then winged it based on what I had on hand. It was quick and simple to prepare and turned out really delicious – spicy and super flavorful. I will definitely be making this over and over again.
I was up bright and early Saturday for a yoga class but my body was super sore and tight as a result of a massage I had on Friday so I took it easy. I headed over to our new studio space that’s under construction after class for a quick photo shoot with Wanda Koch. How fun to backbend and handstand on piles of drywall. The new studio is going to be amazing and I can’t wait for it to open soon!
Lunch after photos was homemade tomato soup and a sandwich with deli chicken, avocado, white cheddar and tomato on wheat. I blogged about this soup earlier this week but it’s so good! It almost tastes like a caramelized onion, balsamic tomato soup. Love it. I’ll try to recreate and post the recipe.
I ran errands after lunch and sported a new infinity scarf. I didn’t take this thing off all day Saturday.
I stopped by Whole Foods to pick up some ingredients for a recipe I was developing and testing and was excited to find that they were tasting $40-$50 bottles of wine and champagne along with cheese and chocolate. My lucky day. These two Italian wines were my favorite that I tasted. I really want to learn more about old world wines because I definitely enjoy them.
I came home from errands and took advantage of the last hour of daylight and took Sullie for a long walk. When we came back she had so much fun rolling around in the leaf piles that were blown in the back yard. Her fun, sweet and playful personality never ceases to make me smile.
Speaking of wine…I went out with a group of friends to Dean & Deluca wine bar last night. This red blend was really great.
And my dinner was seared scallops with lentil salad and citrus beurre blanc. While it tasted amazing, I was starving when I left so I made a grilled cheese when I got home! 🙂
Are you a wine lover? Red or white? And what type?
Have you ever made a second dinner when you got home from a restaurant?
I just love your pics of the puppy! Our Daisy (8 month boxer mix rescued from Alabama) experienced snow for the first time this morning!
I love those yoga pictures, very cool!
Cute scarf! Also, you have a beautiful yoga practice. I would love to see a video tutorial on getting into handstand and tips for staying there! Getting up, no problem. Finding balance, problem. 😉
Amarone is one of my favorite wines 🙂 We are Italian, and my mom and I always splurge when we are together and have it! Definitely a red wine drinker. Love your blog 🙂
I used to love red, but now I am definitely more of a white wine drinker. I also find that white gives me less of a headache too. 🙂 Scallops never fill me up when I order them at a restaurant, so I always make sure that I have a appetizer or some carbs to fill me up. 🙂
I go back and forth between whites and reds…during the cold months I love drinking red wine!
Those seared scallops look to die for!
My all time favorite wine is j lohr seven oaks. It’s a Cabernet (red). I also enjoy any chilled white during the summer months
Love the pictures of your dog!! Mine was doing the same thing this weekend but instead of fall leaves it was in the snow! 🙁 boo! not ready for winter to be here – why does fall go by SO FAST?!
Haha yes I have totally ate again after eating out at a restaurant – usually a bowl of cereal or toast. Sometimes fancy food just isn’t as filling as we’d like or need!
Your sandwiches always look perfect!! And now I’m craving salmon haha!
I do love wine, but typically white!! The only red I really enjoy (right now) is Apothic Red. So warm and delicious! 🙂
Sully is too cute!! When I was doing leaves on Saturday my dog also was rolling around loving the leaves however always for some reason chose to roll around in the freshly made piles 🙂 and thennn when I was dragging tarps full of leaves to the woods I would randomly think wow it seems like these have gotten heavier only to look bak and see my dog Jack on the back of the tarp getting a free ride and loving life haha!! Love how happy dogs can make us!! I found myself just cracking up the whole time, even if I had to fix every pile 5 times 🙂
Love seeing your posts of Sullie. I grew up with goldens, and I cannot wait for this “apartment-phase” of my life to be over so that I can have one again. Love that sweet white face!! If you ever have a chance to try wine from Knez winery, do not miss it! They are unfiltered, and look a bit cloudy, but are wonderful!
I love so many wines, but my favorites are oaky/buttery chardonnays and robust cabernets.
I don’t normally make a second dinner but David is the king of doing that. No restaurant fills him up enough. 🙂
I am on a kick with Petit Syrah and California Cabernets…is it a kick if it has lasted more 3 years?
The Red blend looks amazing in this post. The deep erd color of it makes it seem right up my alley.
The Sullie pics are adorable! I wonder if that wine bar realizes they have the same name as Dean & Deluca coffee. How odd!
