It’s 9 p.m. on Friday night and I’m sitting on the couch under a blanket drinking chai tea and watching TLC. I ate a frozen meal for dinner. To give myself credit, it was from Trader Joe’s and actually tasted great.
I tend to get in patterns where I go, go, go and then crash. I can usually make it to the end of whatever I’m working to accomplish but the second my body gets a break, it shuts down for recovery. I didn’t feel well in Thursday so I spent most of the day taking it easy. I subbed out my classes so that I could rest. I was in the mood for some comfort food for dinner so I made a pizza.
Whole wheat crust with marinara sauce, sun dried tomatoes and sautéed mushrooms and onions with mozzarella. I swear that pizza has magical healing qualities. My father would agree. Anytime he was sick, he would eat those little Totino’s frozen pizzas (haha…and now I am craving one after Googling an image of them).
I drank Starbucks Refresh mint tea last night for the first time and really enjoyed it. It was the perfect way to unwind before bed. I’m glad the nights are getting cool enough for hot tea. Drinking tea is one of the only things I love about cooler weather. 😉
I drank a green smoothie this morning after a hot yoga practice. It felt nice to sweat and then fuel my body with good stuff. Today’s blend included spinach, banana, vanilla protein powder, peanut butter, blueberries, almond milk and ice.
There was a last-minute plea for a BodyPump sub for the noon class today at the Y so I rushed over to help since one of my team members covered for me the day before. Class was a booty kicker and reminded me why I will definitely keep BodyPump as part of my workout mix. Such a great total body workout. I grabbed a salad from the Harris Teeter salad bar on my way back to the office. I got a little crazy with the toppings. I’m fairly certain this was not the healthiest salad.
I treated myself to a mani/pedi after work. It’s been a long (but good) week and I needed a chill Friday evening activity. Light on the toes and dark on the fingers. I read all of Allure and half of Women’s Health while I was there. It was awesome.
I opened the freezer and pulled out this Channa Masala from TJs for dinner. I heated it and served it over some leftover brown rice with a piece of whole wheat naan (also from TJs). I was really impressed by this meal. I would definitely buy it again.
Okay, off to continue blobbing on the couch. Have a great weekend!
We’re opposite for nail colors. I always go light on hands and dark on toes. I’m dying to get a blue pedi next time. Better squeeze that in before fall!
Sounds like my idea of a perfect night!
Love the blue polish – I always stick to pinks/reds but I’m working on the nerve to branch out in the color wheel more this Fall 🙂
haha blobbing on the couch! love that saying…might have to steal it. don’t worry all my friday nights during marathon training involve blobbing. otherwise I won’t get up early in the morning for a long run!
haha – i definitely remember that routine!
love the blue nail polish? do you remember what the shade was called? i know that essie has a new blue colour called bikini so teeny that i love!!!
i don’t remember! i’m sorry 🙁
Enjoy your break! Sounds like you need a little rest. I definitely go through the same type of phases where I get myself crazy busy, and ultimately burn out because I can’t keep up with the hectic routine. I definitely spend my Friday’s lazing it on up as well:)
I love that blue nail-polish colour! Adorable.
Hey Jen! I’m a longtime lurker and I just thought I’d come out and say…THANK YOU for your perfect eggs tips!! I love fried eggs but could never get them right…there’s nothing more disappointing than a firm yolk when you really want it to be runny. Since that post went up, I’ve had perfect (!) eggs nearly every every day, either for lunch or dinner (strange how I never want them at breakfast)!
thank you so much for reading and taking the time to comment! i’m glad that the eggs cooking method is working well for you! i prefer them more brunch/lunch/dinner too and not first thing in the AM!
Hi Jen, hope you feel better. We all need rest and you definitely are a busy woman. I agree with the last comment regarding the perfect eggs. My eggs are turning out better than ever before and now I look forward to making them. Thanks so much for sharing that cooking method!
i’m so happy to hear that it’s working well for you! thanks for checking in and letting me know!
love that channa masala from TJs! so glad you treated yourself to the pedi — such a great reward for a long week! xo
