Lots of things I’m currently into that I want to share.
Two Body Products I’m OBSESSED with.
Johnson’s Baby Oil Gel. I discovered this stuff about six months ago and it’s been a staple in my bathroom ever since. It’s unbeatable in its moisturizing abilities…especially during dry winter months and for exposed summer legs. It’s inexpensive and available in several scents that all smell great.
Amir Argon Oil Touch of Tan Moisturizer. I really don’t use self tanners but I love this moisturizer that is argon oil based and features just a touch of self tanner. It smells so amazing and not at all like self tanner.
Music.
NEW CIVIL WARS!!!!!!!!! I streamed the album before its release (legit…via iTunes) and it is amazing. It just came out today and you all must check it out.
For your reading pleasure.
Read Olivia Wilde’s Do’s and Don’t for Turning 30. Here’s the closing statement…
“And DON’T be bogged down by your past.
Saturn has now orbited the sun once since you’ve been alive; make this next go-round whatever you want it to be. Consider your baggage (bad boyfriends, job setbacks, body issues) lost by the airline of life, leaving you empty-handed at your new destination with only one choice: Go shopping.
That’s it. Now go—be awesome.”
And check out this new website/blog that I just discovered, Shit 101, where Natallia writes about Shit They Should Have Taught You in College. She even wrote a book about it. Here’s a highlight from her “about” page.
“So I studied my ass off, graduated with honors, earned a double major in communication and Spanish “donde esta el vino?,” packed up my bags and set out for the most romantic, larger-than-life city in the land: the Big Apple, Ms. New York City herself. I stepped off the train in my knock-off Manolo Blahnik’s to find my Mr. Big. This fantasy lasted a New York minute and then life set in: the life they don’t tell you about in the fairy tales or college applications. There’s no job waiting for you and the Prince Charming is a douchebag. So I did what most young, single people whose dreams are shattered do: I ignored it and partied my ass off.
With every high on Friday and Saturday night came the low-low on Monday morning; I became depressed, gained 40 pounds, was upended by the unexpected death of my father, watched my mother and sister battle severe alcoholism, got in a verbally abusive relationship and at 26, found myself homeless sleeping in the luxurious front seat of my Silver Toyota Echo. Oh Cinderella, where art thou!?”
Finish it all off with some chocolate.
This Taza Salted Almond Mexican Dark Chocolate is the most delicious chocolate that I’ve had in a long time. I picked it up at my local Whole Foods.
And that’s all I’ve got for you! Love sharing my recent discoveries and recommendations.
That CHOCOLATE! Trader Joe’s used to carry organic stone-ground dark chocolate for $1.50 (also 2 discs, and that was the price of it in NYC) and then it was discontinued. Excited that WF now has a version, I’ll definitely have to go get it ASAP…except that price tag, ugh.
i know…but then you have a bite of it and it’s so worth it! 🙂
That chocolate if sooo good
I would have never thought of using baby oil as a lotion/moisturizer! It makes sense that it would work fantastically though :). I’m definitely going to pick some up next time I’m at the store, thanks for the tip!
Thanks for the heads up on Johnson’s baby oil gel’s moisturizing abilities! I am always on the lookout for a great moisturizer!
That book looks amazing… definitely a must read. And that chocolate?! YUM. Must find soon.
I’ve seen the baby oil gel and wondered what people used it for… I’m guessing moderation is key to not look like an oiled-up-competeing-body-builder?
yes, the gel isn’t as oily as the straight oil. moderation in application and rubbing it in well. does not look body builder!
That book looks interesting! I too really struggled with transitioning from college to adulthood.
So excited about The Civil Wars new release! I too streamed it from iTunes. Good stuff!
Thanks for sharing. I think my most recent favorite find are the Health Warrier chia bars – super yummy!
oh, have not heard about those. will check it out!
Thanks for sharing two awesome reads! I could get lost in ‘Shit101’ for hours! Perfect for this rainy morning 🙂 I’ll have to try that chocolate too! Hope you have an awesome Wednesday Jen!!
I am totally going to subscribe to that blog…just opened it now and doing some searching around it. I love how certain woman just put it ALL out there. It is refreshing! And nice find on that moisturizer. I am going to remember to look for that, next time I’m shopping. XOXO
i know, i just cannot do it!
That chocolate..omgggggg
Love the baby oil gel too! Just ordered the Argon oil….can’t wait to get it. The reviews on Amazon are almost perfect too! Thanks for the recommendation. And that chocolate…I keep walking by it and have been very eager to try it. I think that will be a requirement on my next trip to WF!
yes! try the chocolate!
Does the baby oil leave a greasy feeling? I imagine it would feel oily versus absorbing in well, but I could be wrong!
it’s not as greasy as the straight baby oil but it is a little…but in a good way. if you don’t overdo it and rub it in well then you shouldn’t have an issue!
I discovered Johnson’s baby oil gel this past summer (love the cocoa butter version) and I couldn’t agree more, it’s great!
I think I might have to buy that moisturizer/self-tanner off amazon…i need something that moisturizes well, smells great, and leaves a SUBTLE glow (not orange streaks haha)
this is the product for you! i can hardly even tell if it does tan me. definitely no streaks and i don’t always apply it evenly.
Wow, I never thought I’d see that chocolate on your blog! It’s made somewhat close to me (I’m in Boston) and some of my classmates did a presentation on the company a while ago. Pretty good chocolate!
love the shit101 website!! shes got a good point…i totally thought (for some reason?) after college i would land a job i loved and everything would fall into place….well, it didn’t haha.
ill have to try the baby gel my skin gets so dry here in colorado!
