This was a working Saturday for me which I was prepared for. Unfortunately, it also ended up being stressful on the life front for a couple of reasons including my car going crazy. Car trouble is always no bueno but I am so lucky with how my situation turned out.
Let’s start with breakfast.
I made a smoothie with banana, strawberries, mango, pomegranate juice, almond milk and ice. I wanted to add greens to it but my grocery situation is SAD and the kale I had left was not even worthy of going into the blender.
I spent the morning working at our CrossFit gym. I took a quick break to do a 15 minute AMRAP with two others…
5 pull ups
5 strict press
5 ring rows
5 slam balls
5 sumo deadlift high pull
5 ring push ups
I think I finished 6 or 7 rounds. I’m glad I got a quick workout in because I ended up having no time later this afternoon!
Given the sad state of my fridge I stopped by Earth Fare for lunch on my way to teach yoga. I had a cup of lentil mushroom soup, kombucha and a vegan oatmeal raisin cookie.
I spent my afternoon teaching a hot yoga class and then stayed at the studio for a private with some of my friends. We meet once a month to work on more advanced postures like arm balances, inversions, backbends, etc. It’s so much fun for me and hopefully them too! 🙂
Then I got in my car to drive home after my long day…and my check engine light came on. I thought to myself that it was a bit concerning but didn’t give it much thought until a few minutes later when I stopped at a light and my car would hardly accelarate even with pedal to the metal. I freaked out and called my dad who told me to get home safely ASAP. I then called the local Honda dealership Hendrick Honda and explained to the service receptionist what was going on.
My expectations were BLOWN. It was 3:45 and service closed at 5. After walking me through a few questions, she told me she was sending someone to my house to check my car. 15 minutes later her service foreman arrived with one of the handheld devices that checks why your engine light is on. Long story short, the sensor between my pedal and the computer in the car was malfunctioning. He said it was probably a glitch and I’d be okay to keep driving and see if it happened again but that didn’t feel like a good solution to me.
The next thing I knew he had called the dealership, arranged a loaner car and followed me there. Within five minutes I left my car with them and drove off in a brand new Honda Civic. They told me they would give my car a thorough check on Monday. My car is out of warranty and has over 100,000 miles on it. There was no reason for them to do all of this for me. I am so grateful.
My dad said it was excellent marketing in addition to customer service on their part because I now want this car permanently parked in my driveway. 😉
I was so ready for some relaxation after that long day. One of my yoga friends was having a belated Cinco de Mayo party and brought in The Herban Legend food truck to feed us.
The menu looked amazing and I wanted everything on it. I ended up going with the grilled cheese and it was the best food choice I’ve made in a long time!
Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Havarti, provolone and fried green tomatoes topped with roasted red pepper and basil aioli on grilled sour dough. I’m not even kidding when I say this is the best sandwich I have ever eaten. Just what I needed to end the day!
When is the last time you received really amazing customer service?
Ugh my car gives me SO much trouble! I have a 1999 Ford Taurus (yes that’s sad lol), and it seems like there’s always something going wrong on it. That’s incredible customer service!!! I would love to find a service center like that around me!
That grilled cheese looks amazing! Definitely a pick-me-up kind of food 🙂
The Hendrick dealerships are awesome – glad they took care of you! That grilled cheese looks AMAZING – it’s rare that I miss bread since going gluten-free but that sandwich does the trick.
I love our yoga privates! They are so much fun and I learn so so much. Thanks for giving us your Saturday afternoons!!
A while ago I was looking for these running tights that I’d bought a few years ago – they are my all time favourites and I wanted to buy anothe pair. Via Twitter I got in contact with the maker, Craft Sportswear, and they spent days and days brainstorming to figure out what model and what year they were made (because silly me couldn’t remember those two details….). After a few days they e-mail me saying that the model they think it is a model who isn’t made anymore but if I sent them my address they’d send me another pair to try out – free of charge! I got a pair of £80 running tights in the post a few days later and I have to day that they really impressed me – both with the tights, and with their customer service!
A couple of months ago I ordered some books from Amazon for my mom, as I do every month or two. Turned out she wasn’t interested in one of my choices (a rare occurrence). I contacted them get a return authorization and they told me they would refund the money but to keep the book. Very cool I thought and now my niece has the book, Madeleine Albright’s autobiography – fitting as I would not be surprised if that girl becomes Secretary of State or Ambassador to the UN some day. :o)
That is so awesome! I recently got a 2013 accord and loooove it. I got it from priority Honda in huntersville and they have also been great!!
My kindle recently broke and amazon replaced it free of charge and no questions asked. Good customer service makes such a difference!
That sandwich does sound absolutely delicious!! I LOVE havarti!!
I have had opposite experiences with Toyota, which is ironic because I used to have a Honda and chose a Toyota for their customer service…haha live and learn I suppose! Anyways, that grilled cheese really does sound fabulous!
that sandwich sounds amazing
Looks delicious, must try to recreate. I love kombucha! Your smoothie sounds great I’ll have to try that…
