Sharing my Daxxify review. It’s newest FDA-approved injectable neurotoxin on the market to treat wrinkles. This post is part of my long-term partnership with Carolina Facial Plastics.
I have been receiving Botox and Dysport injections on and off for the last 10 years. I started with Dysport injections in my masseter muscles to help with jaw clenching and now also treat my forehead, glabella (11s area between eyebrows), outer eyes and occasionally do a lip flip. I combine these treatments with a quality skincare routine and it’s been an effective routine for keeping my skin smooth and preventing deep wrinkles from forming.
I love the results of Dysport and Botox injections but I tend to metabolize them rather quickly and wish they lasted a little longer. Back in December, the team at Carolina Facial Plastics introduced me to Daxxify. It’s a new injectable neuromodulator with results lasting up to 6-9 months. We gave it a try and I’m here to share lots of details about Daxxify as well as my initial Daxxify review with you in this post.
WHAT IS DAXXIFY AND WHAT DOES IT DO?
Daxxify is the newest FDA-approved neurotoxin (similar to Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau). Daxxify is a neuromodulator. This family of medicines smooth wrinkles by injecting a tiny amount of botulinum toxin into the underlying muscle. This relaxes the tissue and creates a smoother appearance in the skin on top. The effects of these treatments wear off over time and most people have multiple injections per year.
WHAT MAKES DAXXIFY DIFFERENT THAN BOTOX?
There are several key things that differentiate Daxxify from other neuromodulators.
- Duration of effectiveness. Most people get around three months out of neurotoxin injections. The median duration for Daxxify is six months – with results lasting up to nine months in some patients. This is has the potential to reduce annual injections from four treatments to two.
- Quickness of effectiveness. It is common for Botox to take upwards of two weeks to take effect. Daxxify begins taking effect within 24 hours and most people see results within 48 hours.
- Daxxify is the first and only peptide-powered frown line treatment. It’s made up of a synthetic, proprietary Peptide Exchange Technology – meaning it’s the first of its kind but to use any human or animal byproducts. This discovery helps to stabilize Daxxify and provide its unique, long-lasting results.
- Daxxify has only been FDA-approved to treat the glabella area – commonly known as frown lines or elevens. Botox is also approved for a wide variety of uses – chronic migraines, overactive bladder, neck muscle spasms, severe underarm sweating and wrinkle treatment for other parts of the face such as crows feet and forehead. That said, drug companies cannot promote their products for unapproved uses but doctors are free to prescribe for purposes not cleared yet by the FDA. It is common for neurotoxins to be used off-label for a variety of uses and this will certainly be the case for Daxxify too.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
The FDA approval of Daxxify was based on a clinical trial including more than 2,700 patients and approximately 4,200 treatments. These trials showed the following (source):
- 74% of subjects achieved improvement in glabellar lines at week 4.
- 88% achieved improvement at week 4.
- 98% of subjects achieved none or mild wrinkle severity at week 4.
- 6-month median duration.
- Some patients maintained treatment results at 9 months.
- Results seen as early as one day after treatment, typically seen within two days.
WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS?
Daxxify seems to be well tolerated with minimal side effects. There were no serious treatment-related adverse events reported in clinical trials and the safety profile is consistent with other currently available neuromodulators in the aesthetics market. (source)
WHAT IS THE COST OF DAXXIFY?
While you may not need to have injections as frequently with Daxxify as you do for Botox or other neuromodulators, this likely won’t lead to saving a lot of money on injections. The price per visit will very likely be higher for Daxxify than Botox. I recommend reaching out to an approved provider near you to get more information on pricing for Daxxify so you can decide if it works for your needs, lifestyle and budget.
TIPS FOR CHOOSING A DAXXIFY INJECTOR
Because Daxxify’s results are long-lasting and cannot be reversed, it’s imperative that you choose a highly-trained injector. I have trusted Carolina Facial Plastics with my skincare and injections for over 10 years. They are in the top 1% of offices in the world chosen to carry Daxxify. You can book a consultation with them through their website or call 704-323-5090.
If you’re not local to the Charlotte area, do your homework when it comes to choosing an injector! Read reviews, talk to friends, get consultations. This is not the time to go for the best deal or to make a rash decision.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH DAXXIFY
Now that we’ve covered all the basics on Daxxify from a more global view, let’s talk about my personal experience receiving Daxxify injections.
Daxxify arrived at Carolina Facial Plastics in December. As a long-time client and partner, I was offered the opportunity to be among the first group of patients to receive Daxxify injections at my appointment on December 13. I jumped at the chance and my experience has been an overall positive one so far.
We treated my forehead, glabella (frown lines) and outer eyes (crows feet) with Daxxify. We also did a lip flip as a test because my injector Courtney Whitley hadn’t done one yet with Daxxify and I was happy to be the guinea pig. We switched to Dysport for my masseter muscles (jaw injection) because it requires such a high unit dose and is more of a functional versus aesthetic use.
The injections themselves were super quick and easy. We didn’t do any numbing cream or ice packs. I only felt a tiny pinch when Courtney administered the injections. They swelled up like a mosquito bite but that subsided super quickly (within 30-60 minutes). I had noticeable results within 48 hours and definitely experienced full results within a week.
I would say there is no downtime in receiving neuromodulator injections when it comes to social plans but it’s important to note that you should avoid any strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours after receiving injections. You also don’t want to lie flat or put pressure on your face for the first six hours or so after treatment.
It’s been exactly 12 weeks since my injections at the time of this post. My glabella area is holding strong with minimal movement, as are my crow’s feet. My forehead is moving quite a bit but the overall appearance is still very smooth. This has always been the case with my forehead no matter what neurotoxin I use. It just does NOT want to give up the good fight, haha. It’s always the first to go. The lip flip seems to be wearing off as well.
At my next treatment, I’ll ask how many units we used on my forehead and see if that could possibly be bumped up for longer-lasting results. Or maybe this will just always be the case with my forehead? We shall see and I’ll keep you in the loop.
8 weeks post-Daxxify
Overall, I’m pleased with my initial Daxxify experience and I’ll 100% opt for Daxxify injections again in the future.

To come To canada!
Thank you for the information! I had my first Daxxify treatment exactly 4 days ago – Botox has never really worked for me – and I felt results in my forehead the next evening. However, I’m not feeling/seeing results in my glabella area. Do you recall how long it was for your results to show up there?
