I thought today was a good “day in the life” post for you. It’s a little different because almost all of my PT clients are traveling and not training this week but it still gives you a good idea of what a working day looks like for me.
6 a.m. – alarm goes off. I committed myself to getting up and going to 6:30 a.m. yoga. It’s been weeks (maybe months) since I’ve gotten up for the class.
I was SO TIGHT. Especially hips and hamstrings. I blame it on all the running and lifting I did in the last week (I ended up running Sunday night too) and the lack of yoga. I took this forward fold picture after class and remarked, “I can’t post this. I’m a yoga teacher. Look how rounded my back is.” But then I realized that I preach to my students every single class that your body is different every time you show up on your mat and to honor that. So in this pic I’m honoring my tight hammies. Haha.
I came home after yoga and made a green smoothie in my new Vitamix. Into the mix went spinach, banana, frozen mango, frozen pineapple, plain 2% greek yogurt, almond milk, chia seeds, dates and almonds. My Vitamix had no problem with the dates and the almonds and the smoothie was a smooth as it could be!
9:15 a.m. – sub yoga at Om Yoga. I typically have a yoga private at this time but due to the holiday week I was available to sub. Class was so good and left me so happy to be teaching at Om.
11:15 a.m. – I came home after teaching and wrote a blog post.
12:30 p.m. – make and eat lunch. Today was a salad with pears, walnuts, avocado, dried cranberries and goat cheese with a maple dijon vinaigrette and minestrone soup.
1:30 – 4 p.m. – Metro stuff. As I blogged a few weeks ago, I am now working for Metro in a part-time capacity as marketing and communications manager. Today’s tasks included designing a big easel sign for our new location, pricing sheet for our new location, January class schedule design, project feedback, logo work and more.
4:30 – 6:30 p.m. – Coach CrossFit
Today’s programming required a lot of coaching and focused on squat cleans. Here’s a video of one of my athletes working towards a one rep max on his squat clean.
6:30 p.m. – sub spin.
I got a text right before I taught CrossFit that there was a last minute need for a spin sub at the club. I don’t regularly teach spin but I will fill in when I have to. I hate for classes to be cancelled. Teaching spin is HARD. I am always a sweaty, jello mess after it. My class loved it! 🙂
7:45 p.m. – home to prep dinner and shower.
Dinner tonight was maple soy glazed salmon with sweet potato gnocchi and roasted asparagus.
8:45 p.m. – more Metro work. Blog posts with tomorrow’s CrossFit programming and social media updates about New Year’s hours and schedules.
9:15 p.m. – edit photos and write second blog post of the day. I don’t regularly write two posts in one day but there’s just so much I want to share with you all right now! 🙂
10 p.m. – a glass of wine on the couch before it all starts again tomorrow. Training one of my favorite clients at 7 a.m. and then teaching yoga!
p.s. I love what I do and I look forward to doing it every single day. I am so blessed.
Long day– the eats look amazing– I love my vitamin and love making my own almond milk in it– seriously I use my vitamix daily– sometimes more! Today was a green smoothie and homemade hummus!
Oh wow, you are such a busy bee!!! I can’t wait to incorporate more yoga into my life in 2014. My hamstrings are in for a treat. That salmon and gnocchi looks amazing.
Wow what a crazy busy day! Glad you can rest now – after all of that you deserve it!
You have quite the active day! It must be so fun to be able to teach so many different kinds of exercise. And that green smoothie is serious food porn. It looks so good! As does all your food. 🙂
I love day in the life posts! Fun…thank you! Happy New Year!
That is one active and busy Monday! That green smoothie is so pretty looking…I need to start making more smoothies again, but once these chilly and grey days disappear here in Houston. Where is the sun? Happy New Year Jen and have a great one! XOXO
These are my favorite kind of posts to read. I’m hoping by this tine next year my
schedule looks very similar to this as I transition into training full time.
