Hey, hey! Hope everyone had an awesome Tuesday. For whatever reason this always seems like the best day to do a “day in the life” post because my Tuesdays have always been my busiest and most diverse days since day one of this fitness full time gig.
So, here’s your day in the life Tuesday!
4:50 a.m. – alarm goes off and I actually bound out of bed because I was able to sleep until 8-8:30 Saturday, Sunday and Monday to catch up from the previous week.
5:30 a.m. – train client at Metro (60 minute session)
6:30 a.m. – train client at Metro (30 minute session)
(Today was super sweet because my 5:30 and 6:30 a.m. clients both messaged me after our sessions to thank me for helping them get their days started right and working them hard!)
7 a.m. – make a smoothie at the gym from the ingredients I packed before I left the house. Dumped everything in the Vitamix. Easy!
7:05-7:45 a.m. – edit photos and write morning post with recent eats
8:10 a.m. – teach a power mixed class at Y2 Yoga
9:10-9:40 a.m. – clean room, shower and change
9:50 a.m. – yoga private at Metro. My client was feeling a little under the weather so we did some light yoga and a ton of work with balls and foam rollers
11-12:30 p.m – back to Y2 to practice. Every other week I stay after I teach to practice but since my yoga private needed to reschedule to today, I accommodated him and made that trip back to Metro. As I’ve stated recently, I prefer to block out my day and not run around liek this but we’ve been working together for 2.5 years and are super flexible with scheduling.
I had a great practice and stayed after class to shoot this figure four arm balance that I’ve been teaching all my students this past week.
1 p.m. – home to shower and prep lunch
While I was making lunch I snacked on tortilla chips with this Three Layer Hummus from TJ’s. Love it!
1:30 p.m. – lunch. Awesome salad with kale, spinach, pears, goat cheese, roasted beets, artichoke hearts, dried cranberries and toasted pecans with a homemade honey dijon balsamic vinaigrette. Tomato and red pepper soup too.
2-3:30 p.m. – computer work for Metro
3:30 p.m. – NAP
4-5 p.m. – more computer work for Metro and emails for the blog/personal stuff
4:30 p.m. Eat a protein bar to get me through the evening. (Post coming soon with a review and giveaway!)
5:30 p.m. – train client at Metro (60 minute session)
6:30 p.m. – teach yoga at Metro. Class was mentally challenging tonight because I had a first timer in addition to my regulars. It’s a small class so it’s a lot to teach to my normal students while making sure my new student feels good. It was a tough end to my day.
7:30 p.m. – time for MY workout! You’d think the last thing I want to do after training four clients and teaching two yoga classes would be to stay at the gym and workout but it’s ALL I wanted to do. I needed to lift something heavy and feel my heart beating to decompress from the day. CrossFit got the job done! I did the two WODs we’d programmed for Monday and Tuesday. Both were sub 10-minutes so it was a perfect couplet.
8:15 p.m. – come home and dive into a plate of cheese.
9 p.m. – as much as I’d love to tell you I made some fancy dinner tonight, I didn’t have it in me. Dinner was an egg scramble and sourdough toast. Perfection.
9:30 p.m. – write this post on the couch in front of the TV (again, again I try to get blog done during the day so I can unplug at night…this is a special occasion)
10 p.m. – publish Metro CrossFit blog with tomorrow’s programming
THEN RELAX AND BED! 🙂
I know it reads like a lot but if I did a day in the life Monday you’d think my life was pretty cushy. I slept til 8:30, worked on the computer, had lunch with a friend, yoga private, run with the pup, taught CrossFit and shopped at Trader Joes. Home by 7 to cook and relax. I have long days, short days, heavy training/teaching days, heavy writing days, etc. I love, love, love that every day is a different challenge. I don’t think I could do this full-time fitness thing if it wasn’t like this.
What a packed day! Busy days can be fun sometimes though, as long as there are also lighter days 😉 And your eats look awesome as usual. Breakfast for dinner is the best!
I always tell myself I will get my posts done during the day but like tonight I didn’t get home until 9:30 so I too ended up working in front of the TV! OH well I tried 🙂
Looks like you had a busy but rewarding day!
i know! it’s a challenge sometimes to get it done during the day!
Glad to see you took a NAP — you deserve it!!
i try to lay down and decompress most day for at least 20-30 minutes. it’s necessary with such a long day!
Amazing yoga pose! I’m still working on arm balances but seeing stuff like that is inspirational 😉
Love reading these posts!!! It’s always nice to see a day to day activity of someone’s life in the fitness industry. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the protein granola bar. It sounds yummy!
I love these little peaks into your world 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for sharing this! I’ve only been a full time fitness professional for a whopping month and a half now, and it’s so encouraging to see what your days are like!
it’s constantly changing! how’s it going for you so far?
Wow!!! Your day is inspiring. 🙂
What a packed day! I love that my schedule is always new each day! It makes the day fun! Yesterday was PACKED, today is a little bit calmer and Thursday is going to be easy breezy! Love the post!
isn’t it so nice to have variety. i never feel like i’m really working!
Glad you got a nap in! My days are similar where I go, go, go and other days where it seems like I haven’t really done much. I love that balance.
Ok- Can you explain what is what in your yoga pose? I have been looking and I swear in all the photos of you, you do not have 3 arms, but in this particular photo, that’s all I can see!
Wait, I see it now! Nevermind 🙂
This is the career I want to get into but have no idea where to start! So inpsiriing how much you get done in a day.
it takes a while…for me it was a slow transition where i started doing it on the side and adding on as opportunities came until i could finally let go of the full-time gig! scary but worth it!
High-Fives to you for doing your workout that late at night! That’s impressive and I would be a complete zombie…Those early morning before 5:00 AM are tough, but I am making myself take a quick power nap somewhere during the day, so I can stay alert with my clients and while I’m driving, since I’m all over the place too. 😉
i have embraced the power nap. try to at least lay down every afternoon for 20-30 mins!
