Yoga Teacher Training day one is officially OVER. And it was not bad at all! I arrived at the studio at 6 p.m. and learned that we were kicking off training with an ashtanga practice. Big sigh of relief…I love ashtanga! I added it to my yoga routine last summer and recently completed the Eight Weeks of Ashtanga immersion at my studio. Apparently, the first half of our training is going to be ashtanga-focused because power yoga is based on ashtanga. I can live with that!
After we practiced, we completed a worksheet about why we were doing the teacher training, yoga teachers and the impact yoga has made in our lives. Lots of “getting to know you” sharing and just a general introduction to training. I know Saturday and Sunday will be a lot more intense and I’ll let you know how it goes!
Again, thanks for your supportive comments and tweets. They mean more to me than you know. My heart is happy and I feel really good about my decision to pursue teacher training.
I owe you guys a recap of the last two days of eats. I have my sweet husband to thank for a lot of them!!! Let’s work in reverse. Brandon had dinner waiting on me when I got home tonight at 9:30. My belly was seriously rumbling and I was so appreciative.
He even made my vegetarian request – tomato sauce, sauteed portobello mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, mozz and goat cheese. Mmm…
I love pizza night!
I opened the fridge and saw this delicious treat waiting.
Brandon stopped by Amelie’s today and requested “the best fruity tart they had” and came home with this. I haven’t tried it yet but I’m going to dig in shortly!
Sullie was out in the rain when I got home for a quick potty break and came in looking like a cute mess.
I am so lucky to have these two to come home to!
I came home for lunch to eat and pack my yoga gear for this evening.
Great Harvest Dakota with mashed avocado, spinach and colby-jack. Under the broiler to make it melty, of course. Cherries and apple slices on the side.
Breakfast was banana pumpkin oatmeal in a Trader Joe’s near empty almond butter jar at my desk this morning. I skipped my normal 6:30 a.m. class due to teacher training and it felt so weird to start my Friday without it. It’s the first time I’ve missed since the marathon.
Brandon took control of dinner last night too. I had to teach BodyPump after work so he volunteered to grill.
So someone “Stumbled” the Bacon Wrapped, Cheese Stuffed Chicken post on Bakin’ and Eggs a few days ago and the hits on the recipe have been insane! Brandon felt inspired by his creation and decided that it needed to make another appearance last night. He also grilled sweet potatoes with Dizzy Pigs new rub, Pineapple Head.
Lunch yesterday was eaten at my desk after my monthly visit with Ariana at Varji & Varji to tame my brows!
Leftover Cauliflower Soup with a slice of Great Harvest Dakota and some cherries. The Cauliflower Soup was even better on day two! Also, a kombucha that I picked up at Earth Fare after my appointment.
And finally, Thursday breakfast.
Banana pumpkin overnight oats at my desk. Topped with Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Butter and almond butter.
Happy Weekend! Hope it’s a great one.
One last thing – check out my friend Ashley’s new blog. She’s training for her FIRST marathon (Country Music in Nashville in April) and blogging about the experience.
I’m so excited for you that you’re getting to do yoga teacher training! I know you’ve been thinking about it for a while. It’s really inspirational to see you follow your dream! 🙂
I’m so glad to hear that your first day at teacher training was a success!
Way to go! I am glad you feel so positive about Day 1 of teacher training. Keep that momentum up 🙂 And by the way Brandon is feeding you, it seems like he is fully supportive.

Glad to hear that your first day went well!! Look forward to hearing about your experience 🙂
Glad to hear your day went well!
That’s so sweet that Brandon picked you up dessert! 🙂 Have a great weekend!
This is SO exciting! Once you’re qualified, do ya fancy coming over to England and teaching me? 😛
Of course! How fun would that be!? I totally wish I could.
I’m so curious about your teacher training and excited to hear updates. I admire your dedication; it is very inspiring.
Thank you Erin! I’ll be posting updates/recaps after every training weekend!
I just stumbled across your blog and am so excited to find another UGA grad who has spent some time in Bham! I graduated from UGA in 2008 (goooo dawgs!) and am in my 3rd year of dental school at UAB! Please keep the UGA love coming — how bout them dawgs tonight with that big basketball win. And I always thought we were a football school 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend!
Hi Kall – thank you so much for leaving a comment. I love finding other UGA grad bloggers too – especially that I share some kind of connection with. How do you like Birmingham? We enjoyed living there for three years but are happy to be settled in Charlotte now. Hope you’re staying warm and safe!
Congrats Jen! I was in class today and I knew training was going on the in room next door. I kept thinking about how awesome of an instructor you’ll be. So glad you’re enjoying it! Though I’m not surprised at all 🙂
Thank you so much – I thought about you guys to during the day yesterday too. I have SO much to learn but I’m loving it!
Where’s that pizza crust from?
