Here’s the third and final DC post. Catching up? Read Part One and Part Two.
The whole reason for our trip to DC was to attend Erin and Dave’s wedding. Brandon grew up in Charlotte with both of them. They started dating in high school and have been together for 10 years now! We were so excited to be there to celebrate their wedding day with them!
After brunch we headed back to our room to get ready for the wedding. The ceremony was at 3 p.m. and we had to be on the buses for the church by 2. It was a beautiful ceremony! We arrived back at the hotel and were ready to kick off the reception around 5 p.m. I didn’t take any pictures during cocktail hour but I had one beer and a couple of passed hors d’oueuvres – including a crab cake, smoked salmon and tomato and mozzarella.
Soon it was time to be seated for dinner.
The salad was perfect.
Mixed greens, roasted beets, gorgonzola and candied walnuts with balsamic vinaigrette. This salad started a debate at our table over beets. The majority were not fans – including my husband. I stole his beets. The more the better for me! ๐
Dinner was pre-selected with our invitations. I chose fish and Brandon chose steak.
Salmon with yellow tomato relish. 10-layer gratin potatoes and grilled veggies on the side. The 10-layer potatoes were so good. Need to try to recreate that side dish at home. It would be perfect for special occasions.
After dinner we toasted the newly married couple.
And then hit the dance floor. It was such a fun wedding – everyone was out on the dance floor all night. I’m usually not a dancer but I had tons of fun out there with our friends (here’s a pic of us with Lee and Ashley).
I took a break from dancing to get some shots of the cake and candy bar. You know I’m all about the sweets.
Dave and Erin cut the cake and were so cute to watch.
And I grabbed a picture with the bride so I could share this fun story with you.
Erin actually caught my bouquet at our wedding two years ago. How fun!
Clearly, she was thrilled about catching the bouquet. ๐
But it did work out for her because here she is married to Dave a little over two years later. They are a perfect couple and happiness and love radiated from them Saturday night!
CONGRATULATIONS ERIN AND DAVE!!!
Have you ever caught the bouquet at the wedding?
My boyfriend would never eat beets, but I LOVE them!! They are so good roasted! I made them along with some baked okra and parsnips last night! such a good/random combo, but definitely declious!
I don’t think that combination sounds random at all! YUM!
Love your wedding recap ๐ I had no idea that Erin caught the bouquet at your wedding– that is too funny! It was so fun to see you and Brandon this weekend– I need to get you those videos of our high school musicals!
Liz – thanks so much for your comment! It was great to see you last weekend! We had so much fun in DC and at the wedding.
Am dying to see these videos you speak of! ๐
We had a candy bar at our wedding-I think it was my favorite part ๐
I LOVE your dress–adorable!
Natalie – you can never go wrong with a candy bar. I made multiple trips to it over the course of the night! ๐
I just read through your 3 recaps. Looks like you had a wonderful trip! I love running through the Mall! I loved seeing your wedding picture, you were such a gorgeous bride ๐
Aw, thank Jen! Hurry up and get back to Charlotte so we can hang out! I need some group run action in my training life!
