Today was really tough. I woke up at 7:30, let Sullie outside and then forced myself back to sleep. I woke up again at 9:10, just in time to realize that it was the moment I would normally be stepping into the studio to teach the Sunday morning yoga class that I’ve taught for over a year. And then I cried.
I tried to run to take my mind off of it.
And then I made French toast and only managed to choke down about half of it. Sullie was more than happy to help with the leftovers.
And then I cleaned out the refrigerator and freezer. Yep.
The distraction techniques/attempt at relaxation continued this afternoon with pool time. I am very, very grateful to have some pretty amazing people in my life.
I am also grateful for cute puppies. Especially those down for cuddling.
Laying out in the sun is so exhausting! ๐
I had dinner with a friend tonight. We originally planned on meeting at the new Wolfgang Puck Pizza Bar and discovered it was closed on Sunday. Plan B was sushi and it was closed! We ended up at Rooster’s because it’s next to the sushi restaurant. Rooster’s is one of my favorite go-to restaurants in Charlotte so I’m happy we ended up there. Neither of us was starving so we split a salad and a cheese plate and spent a couple of hours talking over wine.
I’m planted on the couch now and getting ready for a short week. I’m headed to the beach on Wednesday for a wedding. I’m so ready to see the ocean and I’m also excited because Sullie can come and she LOVES the beach!
The dinner looks oh so fancy! I’m glad you could cheer yourself up — I think friends, puppies, and runs are a recipe for happy that is pretty foolproof. ๐
Sorry about your class! I know you will get back to teaching yoga!
I was really overextending myself a few months ago and had to finally break away from a few of my commitments. It was hard for me to do but even harder for me to adjust to my ‘new’ life for a few weeks. You’ll get used to the new routine and feel the full effect of less stress soon enough!
You made it through the day! Sorry it was so hard. Nothing is forever. You will be back teaching soon.
Sorry you had such a rough day. I wasn’t feeling to hot myself yesterday for other reasons, but when the day finally ended I was proud for making it through. Here is to making today a better day! Thank goodness for amazing friends, right? ๐
amelia – i’m sorry to hear that you had an off day too. yes, here’s to a GOOD week! so grateful for my friends and support network!
Running is great for getting your mind off things. You made the right decision to take a break, even if it is difficult at times! If you love it, of course you’re going to miss it!
Sorry you had a tough day! At least it seems like you were able to keep your mind off it though. Spending time with family and friends helps take my mind off things that are upsetting to me too!
Eeee! Little pit bull puppies are the cutest. Enjoy your short week. The ocean is the best place to let go of stress and worries.
That puppy is the cutest when he is sleeping in that chair! Hope you feel better soon!
Awe, I can imagine its tough to give up something you love, but you got through the day! Dogs are great for cheering up ๐ Hope your day goes more smoothly today!!
I’m a long time follower, and I just love your honesty and blog! You are such a sweet person, and I find it admirable that you made the decision you needed to make. I hope you have a GREAT week!!!
