Hey guys!
Okay, can we start this post with a WTF on the Pokemon mania!?!? I feel like it’s all I’ve heard about all week long and I still don’t really even know what it all means! I’m just wondering how people have time to drop everything and Pokemon. One of our employees told me he was out until 3 a.m. playing Pokemon go and so were about a million other people last night. Are any of you playing? Help me understand! (I’m also praying Tanner doesn’t download the app because I may never see him again.)
I’ve had a busy, busy work week but it’s also been really fun. On Tuesday night I went to a special preview of the new Fabletics store that is opening this weekend at SouthPark Mall.
I got to check out the brand-new, fully-stocked store before the crowds hit
And I definitely did a little damage! This was my first time trying Fabletics and I love the pieces I brought home with me (also loved the price point). I’ll be sharing a post next week with all of my picks.
On Wednesday I was booked at the last minute for a photo shoot for a university interior project. They wanted a close up of my arms holding a volleyball up against a jersey. Apparently it’s going to be blown up to like 30-feet or something like that. It was an intense hour of posing with a volleyball. Haha. 😉
The jersey that the school provided was a large so it took a massive amount of clipping and taping to get a fitted look for the photo. When I was booked for it we thought the shot would be short-sleeved or sleeveless but apparently volleyball jerseys are long-sleeved to help with diving and floor burn. Makes sense to me!
Here’s a super secret preview. When the work drops I’ll be sure to share the final result!
On the food front, eats have been good this week! I made this layered sweet potato, spinach, chicken and avocado bowl with turmeric tahini dressing for lunch one day.
We loved, loved, loved these Coconut-Lemongrass Chicken Noodle Bowls.
Massaged kale salad with blueberries, tomatoes, radishes, sliced raw okra, toasted walnuts, turkey and turmeric tahini dressing.
Burger night is always a good night. Local grass-fed beef with an herb mayo I made from my herb plants. I served mine on my dad’s sourdough and it made for a tasty bun option! I grilled eggplant/pepper/onion skewers along with the burgers and made this tomato and cucumber salad with peach dressing on the side.
Remix salad from Namastay Kitchen. I mixed together our tahini balsamic and maple mustard dressings and added chicken and avocados.
Snackage. Iced coffee with homemade almond milk and apple slices with Wild Friends ridiculously addictive chocolate almond butter. It tastes like frosting. I had mixed emotions about the single-serving package. 😛
I’ve been craving smoothies thanks to our string of 95+ degree days. My current favorite combo is Premier Protein Chocolate Whey with Wild Friends Chocolate Protein+ Peanut Butter blended with almond milk, frozen banana and frozen strawberries. I’m giving away a tub of the Premier Protein Chocolate Whey over on Instagram. Go enter! 🙂
I have an appointment for a much needed brow wax and facial this afternoon and then tonight we have an event at the studio with the Charlotte Five. I hope y’all have a great Thursday evening!
Are you playing Pokemon?
Have you ever tried Fabletics clothing?
How do you make your iced coffee!?
On this day I just stuck the leftover coffee from the morning in the fridge. I use a little immersion stick to blend in the milk and pour over ice. Not fancy!
I can see why they wanted you for the photo shoot. You have KILLER arms!!
Thanks so much lady!
I agree, killer arms!
Thank you Sabrina! 🙂
I’m a Fabletics addict! I order at least one outfit every month. The price points are amazing – and since I started PYTT I’m wearing 2-3 outfits every day! They wash great are super comfy and the colors are awesome. I wish they had a store in Northern VA! I also wish they were looking for ambassadors!!
Oh Em Gee . I would love if there was a fabletics store near me! (My husband would not, lol)… Just wondering, why didn’t they use one of their own athletes for the shoot?
Fabletics is expanding so keep up the hope!
RE: photo shoot…for whatever reason, schools/companies/etc rarely use their own people for photo shoots and marketing projects.
I don’t understand the Pokemon madness either! Haha. That nut butter in packets is so, so good. Reminds me to have some for a snack tomorrow! I wonder if they will open any Fabletics stores in Canada. I used to buy online pretty regularly, but the dollar became terrible and shipping was pretty expensive. I still love some of the crops I bought there, such fun patterns!
I’m not sure if Canada is in their growth plans. I know they are expanding in the US quite a bit. Keep your fingers crossed!
I really want to try Fabletics! All the designs are nice and well priced. Keep us updated on the quality and how well they hold up! 🙂
I will! The commenters on this post that have tried it all say it holds up well! Good to hear!
I’m a Fabletics addict. My husband keeps asking how much more athletic wear I need. I can’t stop buying it. So cute and holds up well. I have a lot of pieces that I use for everyday wear. I’d be in trouble if they opened a store near me!
Haha, you can never have too much athletic-wear! 🙂 Great to hear that it holds up well!
I’ll weigh in on Pokemon, as my friends and I play it quite a bit. I know for us at least, it’s so addicting because it’s our favorite game from childhood come to life! Pokemon games for Gameboy are essentially all about walking around, finding many different types of Pokemon, and battling other Pokemon trainers at gyms. And that’s exactly what you get to do in the app, except you really have to walk around to find the Pokemon, so it’s very immersive. Plus, it’s been very fun to run into other people on the street playing it. I’ve never had so many conversations with strangers in my city before. I think people are confused by it because it’s kind of a niche, nerdy thing and definitely not for everyone. I definitely don’t condone things like trespassing, playing while driving, or playing in inappropriate places (like Auschwitz) though. Those people need a dash of common sense.
Thanks for adding this perspective! Makes sense and I love the point on meeting and connecting with people!
If I had the need for beautiful arms in a photoshoot, I’d hire you as well. 🙂 How wonderful that you got to do this project.
I haven’t ever tried Fabletics but I may after seeing that cute orange hat on you.
As for Pokemon Go, personally I don’t get it, but I think that’s because I was never into Pokemon as a kid. It feels like it took over the world this week!
Haha, thanks Joy! 🙂
The hat is actually from Lululemon!
I was also never into Pokemon when I was younger.
Love Fabletics!!! I will have to visit the next time I visit home. I am a born and raised Charlottean!!! I am also an alum on UNCC!!! Go 49ers!! So awesome you’re doing a photo shoot for them!!!
That’s awesome Nina! It was my first time visiting the campus and I’ve been here for over 7 years!
I play volleyball, so I think it’s so cool that you got to do this photo shoot! The pictures look absolutely amazing and you look so strong. If you don’t mind me asking, how did you come across this opportunity?
xxMeah
I didn’t know you also played volleyball. Is this photo shot to inspire our female volleyball players that they can get arms like yours in playing this sport?
Finally headed to Southpark this afternoon to check out the new Fabletics – I”ve always wanted to try it, but always feel so much better trying on activewear in person. So excited to have a place here in Charlotte.
Agreed. I really don’t love to do much online shopping at all. I prefer to try things on and I find that I’m kinda lazy about getting things back in the mail to return when I online shop! 🙂
