Let’s address the title of this post first. This morning there was a bit of an incident involving practicing assists and my face smashing into the hardwood floor.
My arms were totally bound in this pose…

Unfortunately, I somehow ended up face planting into the floor instead of being lifted up. My right cheekbone hit the floor so hard that everything went black and I saw stars. As soon as I realized what had happened, I asked for ice and left the room. I managed to stay calm and shed no tears despite my face throbbing. The left side of my neck and left low back are actually more sore than anything else. I guess the impact of the fall kind of jarred everything. I have a bit of a knot on my cheekbone that’s turning red. I’m praying for no gross bruising in the next couple of days.
I’m trying to keep a positive attitude about the whole thing. Yes, it sucks and I’m sore but it was a learning experience. I can guarantee you that all of us in my group will always remember how to do that assist! ๐
On a brighter note, I had an awesome ashtanga practice this morning (pre-face plant) and felt really good in my body. I worked on second series again and also got assisted on putting my foot behind my head. I felt hip stretching like I have not felt in a very long time. Maybe one day (after much practice) I will acheive this awesomeness.
Our two teachers. Insanity. I can assure you that my attempt to place my foot behind my head looked nothing like this. Maybe if I’m lacking blog content one day I will show you my version of foot behind head and we can all have a good laugh!
Moving on to today’s eats.
Pineapple Chobani after practice.
Earth Fare salad bar for lunch plus and unpictured Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Larabar.
Organic beef burgers with gorgonzola and caramelized onions. Spicy sweet potato fries on the side. Brandon took care of dinner again tonight and it was so good. I can’t even remember the last time I had a burger and this totally hit the spot.
I subbed out my BodyPump class tomorrow morning so I’m looking forward to a solid eight hours of sleep tonight. Hoping I feel better when I wake up and that I’m not more sore.
I’m looking forward to tomorrow night! We are cooking dinner at home for Valentine’s Day. We’re still trying to finalize the menu but we’re thinking lobster tails or crab cakes. What are you guys doing for Valentine’s?
Oh, I hope you’re ok! And that feet behind the head move is insane! Talk about flexibility and strength. Very impressive!
Awesome looking burger ๐
Oh my! I hope you feel alright tomorrow! Things like that are never fun, but in a few days it’ll just be something you’ll be laughing at.
Same here for Valentine’s day — the hubby is making a fancy dinner so we can some romantic time without the crowds!
Wow, I hope you feel OK tomorrow! Those poses in the second series scare me a bit. You are fearless!
You are one tough cookie. I hope you aren’t too sore this morning. Happy Valentine’s Day!
thanks beck – i was definitely more sore today but am starting to feel much better. hope your valentine’s day was great!
Ouch! Glad you’re ok ๐
The teacher that is all wrapped up like a pretzel is just nuts!
i know! she’s so awesome!
OUCH! Glad you are okay!! You are hard core. I would have cried. ๐
thanks emily! i almost cried but i made a promise to myself – no crying in yoga teacher training! ๐ i actually felt not so hardcore today and more like i was in a car wreck yesterday! everything is sore. yikes! starting to feel better now though.
Oh holy cannoli. I hope you feel better soon chica.
thank you so much!
oh no! A black eye in time for V-day? If it does leave a mark, I hope you make up some insane back story involving ninjas and you saving the day—just in case people ask. ๐
thank god it did not turn into a black eye. lucky for me, i do not bruise easily. it’s swollen and sore but actually most of the pain that i’m experiencing is in my lower back…boo.
Ouch!! My face hurts for you!! Goodness me, hope it heals quickly!
thanks kaci! ๐
I don’t know whats more intriguing, that face plant or that pose. WHOA!! Love it though. Amazing determination and concentration!!
Have fun tonight.

Oh my gosh Jen! Sorry about your fall!! I hope you’re okay! Kudos to you for trying. I fell trying to do a handstand in yoga a couple weeks ago and it really freaked me out!
Oh no! I’m sorry you fell. This is why I’m not more adventurous in yoga. I am sure to fall. I am a complete clutz. Hope you’re not injured too badly.
