This week I am emerging from the longest hiatus I have ever taken from yoga, both teaching and practicing. I haven’t taught a yoga class in over four months. My final class before maternity leave was on May 16 at 41 weeks pregnant. I have practiced intermittently but nothing that resembles a consistent, dedicated practice.
This little guy has kind of rocked my world in the best of ways. I’m grateful that I was able to step away from teaching yoga for four full months to focus my attention on being his mom…because that is truly the most important job that I have right now. And while I wish I could be practicing more frequently, it’s a challenge to fit in attending an actual studio class and home practices are often cut short for mommy duty.
This week marks my return to teaching yoga. I’m going from teaching no classes for four months to six in one week! I am subbing three classes at the Y this week and kicking off my 200-hour yoga teacher training in Kingsport, Tennessee this weekend.
To celebrate (and to dust off the cobwebs!!!) I thought I would record and share a power yoga class here on my blog! Keep reading for more details on that and a video of a full 35-minute practice.
DISCOVERING YOUR DEODORANT AT CVS
Switching gears, let’s talk about something else that has changed since becoming a mom…my deodorant needs! You might remember that in one of my fourth trimester updates I shared that I was having a little issue with smelliness. My hormones over the summer were in OVERDRIVE and I had to switch to a clinical formula deodorant.
Things seem to be regulating a bit now so I’m making a switch back to a dry spray deodorant for the fall/winter.
The Dove Dry Spray Cool Essentials is an antiperspirant infused with cucumber and green tea fragrance. Some of its benefits include:
- Up to 48-hour antiperspirant protection
- Sprays on dry
- No alcohol formula that helps reduce skin irritation
- Formula is one-fourth moisturizers for soft and smooth underarms
And the Degree Sheer Powder Dry Spray features innovative Motionsense technology that uses microcapsules that sit on your skin and give bursts of fragrance as you move. Other benefits include:
- No visible residue
- 48-hour protection
- Fragrance of freesia, jasmine and vanilla
- Alcohol-free
SHOP BY 9/29 AND SAVE!
Whether you’re like me and your needs are changing due to babies and hormones or you’re just super active and feeling sweaty or smelly, finding the right deodorant can feel like a never-ending search and you might settle for okay.
I turn to Unilever deodorants from CVS to help me narrow down my ideal deodorant. They offer dry sprays, antiperspirants, clinical deodorants and more. Bonus…they are offering GREAT savings right now on your purchase of select Dove, Degree and AXE deodorants.
Head to your local CVS or shop online to discover your perfect deodorant.
FALL POWER YOGA FLOW
And now for the yoga flow! Here is a 35-minute class where I demo and talk you through the practice. It’s a power yoga flow. Some previous yoga experience is helpful but not required. After all, you’re probably doing this in the comfort of your own home so have fun with it!
The flow doesn’t have music because I didn’t want you to get sick of listening to the same music if you do it multiple times! You can follow me on Spotify and match one of the hundreds of playlists I have over there to the flow!
Let me know if you try the flow and if you have feedback! Thanks for stopping by today and for all of your love and support.
Yay!!! Welcome back from your hiatus and thank you for sharing this flow ❤️
Also… what cities do you plan to host yoga teacher trainings in for 2019?
You are welcome for the flow and I don’t have dates for 2019 yet outside of Harrisburg, PA. Do you have a request!? 🙂
Loved the fall flow. Thank you!!!!
Ahhh! Thanks for trying it! 🙂
Loved the yoga flow – thank you 🙂
You are so welcome! Thanks for trying it!
Thank you for taking the time to put together such a wonderful flow! I hope you will teach regularly in Charlotte again!
You are welcome Abby. I’m not sure what the future holds for teaching regular weekly classes but I will let you guys know if that changes.
Thanks for creating an opportunity for me to practice with you!!
Aw, thank you! 🙂
Thanks for the yoga video!! Hope you put some more out for us 🙂
Just wondering about the deodorant…..have you tried just going without? I actually stopped wearing deodorant with my first baby (now have 3 and my youngest is 15 months) because of concerns of the chemicals so near the whole nursing area. I sometimes use a natural deodorant (I love LaVanille) but most days I go without, and it really isn’t that bad! If you think about it, sweating is your body’s natural way of detoxing, so you don’t want to inhibit it or cover it up. If you smell when you work out, who cares? Its natural and healthy 🙂
You are so welcome! And yes, I’ll definitely do more.
Thanks for sharing that idea! It didn’t feel doable in the early days with my hormones all out of wack but now that things have leveled off more it’s something to consider for sure! I do try to always go without after my evening shower until the next day so I never wear any overnight and never have!
Thank you, Jen! I have been traveling and can’t make it to class so this has become my go to. Thank you for sharing! I miss taking your classes in Charlotte.
So happy to hear this, I’m glad you’ve found it useful! 🙂
This flow was great!! Thank you so much for sharing. It felt so good to practice yoga again!
