I cannot believe it is the last day of October. The holidays are right around the corner and 2011 will be over before we know it. This has been a big year for me. I completed yoga teacher training, received my personal trainer certification and made a huge career change. It’s all sitting a little heavy right now and I’m feeling a little overwhelmed by it all as the month comes to a close.
Mostly, I am feeling reflective and in disbelief that I’m in this place at this point in my life. As the year winds down, I hope to continue to evolve into the person that I want to be in this new version of life. Every day is a different adventure and provides a valuable lesson.
I’m celebrating the end of the year by committing to a 62 day yoga challenge.
The studio where I practice and teach is hosting a 62 day challenge and asking yogis to commit to practicing every day through the end of the year. On average, I practice 5-6 days a week but for the last couple of weeks I have been practicing every day and it’s been amazing. So my challenge is going to end up being more like an 80 day challenge. ๐
I’m really looking forward to finishing my year the same way I started it…focusing on my yoga practice.
All that said, Happy Halloween! I hope it’s been a fun day for everyone. I was up and at ’em doing the normal Monday thing – 6 a.m. BodyPump! I also practiced yoga and taught a yoga class and a yoga private.
Lunch was a salad with spinach, leftover roasted butternut squash, goat cheese, walnuts and dried cranberries with homemade honey balsamic dijon vinaigrette. I also may or may not have eaten half a cupcake.
I was super unmotivated to cook dinner tonight when I arrived home from teaching. Brandon had been holding down the fort with the trick or treaters so we decided take out would be easiest. We picked up Thai.
Coconut soup with tofu and veggies and pad thai with chicken and shrimp. Plus, a beer to wash it all down.
Time to turn off the computer and hang out with the boy. We’ve hardly seen each other over the past week since he’s been out of town so much. Happy to have him home. ๐
Do you have any goals you would like to accomplish before the end of the year?
My goal is to focus on training and run the Honolulu Marathon on December 11th.
I wish I could join the 62-day yoga challenge, but I’m switching jobs at the end of the month (whoo hoo!!), which makes this nearly impossible. My goals are to practice yoga at least twice a week and buckle down on my marathon training. I’m running the ING Miami Marathon at the end of January. Congrats on all of your exciting life changes! ๐
So envious you guys had trick or treaters! We don’t get any on the 6th floor of our apartment building in NYC. Maybe I’ll hop on this challenge with you. Everyday might be difficult, but I think I can shoot for 3-4!
I really wanted to be enrolled in PT school and I wanted to have 2,000 miles of running complete. I will be close to 2K but will not reach it. Due to unexpected things in my life, school will be put on hold for a while.
I’ve been increasing my yoga practice lately and it feels wonderful. Good luck with your challenge!
Now I really want Thai food.
Congrats on starting a new challenge! My goal is to just keep challenging myself athletically because I tend to get too comfortable in workouts. I may try some runs again!
Long time reader, first time commenting. I, like many others, have contemplated pursuing a career that is more fulfilling. Now that you have taken the plunge, is it everything you thought it would be? I realize the change is still new, so you may not have formed a true opinion just yet. But, I am curious as to how it feels now that you have settled in to your new career. Sometimes, I think I just like the idea of a new career, but the reality would not be as fun as I imagine.
Your blog is inspiring. I read about your day teaching and training and I somehow find the energy to do my one exercise session.
My focus kind of runs over into the new year too. I just signed up for a half marathon in February and I really want to be more into the training and really kick butt! ๐
I think I may take the 62 day yoga challenge as well. I enjoy workouts of all types but I’ve been slowly falling in love with yoga. I’d like to buckle down and do it every day to get the max benefits. I’m going to try and do the 62 day challenge. Congrats on your new challenge ans thanks for the inspiration.
Random side note, how is the Olay Pro-X Clear working for you? I know you did a review awhile ago and it sounded like it was working good so far but it was still early to tell for sure. I’m having terrible breakouts all of sudden and I think a lot of it has to do with stress but I am trying to find a good skin care system I can afford to try and help my situation. Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks!
