Happy Global Running Day! Who’s celebrating with a run?
Scott Broome Photography
I thought that Global Running Day would be a great time to update you guys on the 2019 running goals that I shared back in December, especially now that we’re almost halfway through 2019 (what!?).
Here they are, along with commentary on where I am with them!
2019 RUNNING GOALS: UPDATE
- Run 2-3 times per week. This has always been a sweet spot for me that allows me to also fit in things like strength training and yoga, which are important to me as well.
Nailing this one! Running has felt so good for me in 2019 and I’m consistently running 2-3 times per week, but pretty much never more than that.
- Build a solid base back where running 8-10 miles feels doable on a regular basis.
Most of my runs are in the 4-5 mile range but in the last 2 months I have done some 6, 7 and 8 milers so I am getting there.
- Stay on top of preventing injuries by focusing on dynamic stretching, strength training, yoga, massage and bodywork when needed.
I am on it when it comes to stretching and strength training but I need to work more yoga practice into my weekly routine (it’s just so hard because I can run with Finn…I have to get childcare to go to yoga). I also can’t tell you the last time I had a massage so I need to get semi-regular with that again, especially since I am teaching strength 2x week now.
- Train for a half marathon, either late spring or in the fall of 2019.
I missed late spring but definitely planning on a fall half.
- Apply to be an ambassador for the Charlotte Marathon. I would love to partner with the Charlotte Marathon again as an ambassador.
I decided not to apply this year. I am leading two yoga teacher trainings this summer/fall that are taking up a lot of my time and weekends. I didn’t want to stretch myself to thin or not be able to meet the ambassador duties/requirements. I am planning to run the Charlotte Half Marathon again this year. I have that weekend free from TT.
- Host another online training group for the Charlotte Marathon and Half Marathon and try to get as many of you in Charlotte with me to run it! Go ahead and save the date for November 16, 2019!
Yes! This is 100% happening. We’ll kick it off in August! 🙂

So there you have it! I think I’m doing pretty well with my 2019 goals and I’m very happy to be back to running regularly. On that note, I definitely think that all the miles pushing this stroller are making me a stronger runner. Whew, stroller running is no joke!
MY # 1 FAVORITE RUNNING SHOES: NEWTON FATE
I rotate between 3-4 different pairs of running shoes (as you see in photos above, I also like Asics, Brooks and Under Armour) but Newton Fate’s are always my top pick and I probably wear them on 80% of my runs and in all of my races.
I was first introduced to the Newton brand back in 2015 when the Mizunos I was running in were discontinued. I started in Newton’s first Fate model…the Fate 1…and I’ve run in every single model they have released since. I just received a pair of Fate 5s from the team at Newton and per usual…I am obsessed. I connected with Newton’s marketing director after blogging about switching to Newtons. She was a blog reader and thrilled that I’d found my way into Newtons. How fun! We have kept in touch ever since and I even served as an ambassador for Newton a couple of years ago.
The Fate 5s are super comfortable, bright and fun. Newton is known for their brightly colored shoe designs. 🙂 I think they’re the best release yet.
The Newton Fate is a neutral shoe that Newton says is, “The shoe for everyone. The Fate 5 was designed with a little bit of pop and a lot of comfort to give runners the perfect ride.”
Some features of the Fate 5:
- Level platform – Newton shoes have a lower heel to toe drop so that you are in a more natural running position.
- Action/reaction technology – Newton shoes features “lugs” across the forefoot that create responsive, trampoline-like cushioning system that provides quicker bounce-back and loses less energy than traditional foam-core running shoes.
- Full foot cushioning and protection.
- Breathable open weave mesh upper.

10 Things I Love About Running for Global Running Day
A Letter to Running
I am training for a half… I don’t think I will actually race one. Just training. I enjoy the process!
My running goal this summer is to take time to stretch after running!
I made it a goal of mine to run 3 times a week during my lunch break at work. It gets me out of chair and outside. I finish a quick 5k feeling ready to tackle the afternoon. So far I have hit that goal every week!
One of my goals is to get back into running after I’ve had some medical issues.. I hope to be able to run 3-4 miles, 2 x a week at a comfortable pace this summer!
My running goal this year has been to run more intuitively. After going through PT last year for posterior tibular dysfunction, I have stopped pushing myself to run hard. Now I run on days when I want to run, walk on days when I want to walk, take rest days when I feel the need and do yoga when my body asks for it. It’s been a much better plan, and my body is thanking me for it!
My goal is to run at least two times per week!
Happy Global running day! I am a loyal Newton-ite, as well. I’m due with my second little in July and hope to run Huntersville Half Marathon in December. I’ll need some new shoes to accommodate these bigger feet! ??
My running goal is to incorporate more foam rolling after runs!
My goal is to run a half marathon this fall (already signed up for Rocktoberfest!)
I also am trying to train to run more instead of my usual walk/run while also getting ready for my November wedding ?
After years & years of reading various runners blogs… I finally took the plunge and ran my first ever 5K earlier this year. This is a huge accomplishment for me after battling severe UC and undergoing a total colectomy 4 years ago. And I just turned 55 last month. Never say never & your never too old to start living your dreams!
Goal: Im coming back from a medical bump in the road April 2018. Diagnosed w/acute cerebral hemorrhage. I missed the San Diego Balboa 8 last year but getting on track now with more miles since Jan 2019. Race let me postpone until this year August 2019. I’m healthy and looking fwd to running this one. #goals. Love your blog.
My goal is running a marathon this fall!
My goal is to work on my speed this summer for a fall race.
My goal is to run at least 3 times per week. So far, I’m doing well 🙂
To continue running twice a week now that it’s crazy hot and humid. I live in TN!
One of my goals was to run 8 miles by my birthday (June 25th). I am so excited to say that I hit it early! On Memorial Day, I ran 8.4 miles and was thrilled. Would love to try these shoes!
I would like to run a half this fall! 🙂
I have a 6 month old, and I’m still getting back into exercising post-baby due to lingering physical issues. Would love to start running by the end of 2019!
My goal is to train for a 10k. 🙂
I’m planning to run the Mammoth Half Marathon in a couple weeks! It’s at 9,000 feet elevation, and I live at sea level, but I’m hopeful getting there a few days early to acclimatize will help.
Run my third marathon in October!
I am just getting back to running after months of PT following a knee injury last November. I’m taking it nice and slow with run/walk intervals and lots of emphasis on hip and glute strength! It’s been awesome and I hope to do a 5k before the end of the summer!
My running goal is just to be able to run 3+ miles easily!
I’d love to start running in some of the themed 5K’s our city has later this fall! 🙂
Trying to better my times by paying attention to heart rates and taking my easier workouts truly easy!!!!
I would love to incorporate more running/cardio to supplement my professional dance career!!
Well, my goal was to chip away at my marathon PR, but an injury in the fall totally derailed it. New goal is progressing from run/walk to a consistent 5 miles, and then being smart as I build my base up again. Maybe a fall marathon?
I am hoping to resolve an ongoing glute injury so I can comfortably run 3-4 miles several times a week.
This summer I want to work on my speed and be better about stretching after all my runs!
I am going to run a few 5ks for charity in the fall. Current goal is just to keep moving in the hot and humid weather!
I just joined a running team for the first time because I always run solo. I’m thinking about training for a full marathon for fall but if not definitely a half! It’s been almost 5 years since I’ve ran a four so I’m a little nervous to try to tackle that distance again
My goal is to PR in the Chicago marathon this fall!
I’m on track to run 2,000 miles this year and am a little ahead of schedule with this month being the half way mark! (That’s good because I’m moving overseas soon so I know there will be a lot of adjustments with that.)
Another goal is to run 70 miles in one week this summer (I’ll let that include early September too since summer in the south is so long!). That one has been harder for me to slowly increase my mileage to get to over the years.
I live in very northern New Hampshire, so I had a goal of staying motivated to train all winter for the Boston Marathon…done! And my next goal is to train for a marathon PR in December!
Actually train this time for the Marine Corps Marathon!
I just ran my second 1/2 marathon this year – in Teton National Park! Great way to enjoy our great landscape
I’d like to beat my current half marathon personal best – anything under 1:49:33!
I decreased my 10 k time to 45:00, finally!
With the stress and demands I’ve had/will have this year, I’ll keep my goal simple and make it: to take my current phrase of ‘I should be more active, I’ll start soon’ and turn it into actually running at least once a week.
I recently ran less than a 30 minute 5k for the first time since having my second child.
I had my first baby this past year, so my running goal is to get my baby to enjoy stroller runs as much as Finn does! That way I can get back into running daily!
My running goal is to continue to increase my base pace speed at Orangetheory. ?
My goal is just to slowly ease back into running after having baby #3 in late August. I’d like to train for a half in Soring of 2020 🙂
My goal is to run two 5ks this summer!
My goal is to find a way to recover from nagging post-tib issues and be able to run at least twice a week by the end of the summer. Injuries are no joke, and it’s always so nice to hear how you’re running again after injury issues in the past!
My running goal is to get back into it injury-free after having a baby!
I’d love to keep running through this pregnancy as long as I can!!
I am a marathon walker. I would like to improve my speed. Currently averaging 13:30 for marathons and half.
Run my 4th half marathon! I’ve run one after each of my kids so I sort of have to run a 4th since my littlest will be 1 on the 15th of this month! (How?!?)
I’d love to get back into shape for a 1/2 marathon!
I had a goal to run a half marathon in 2019 (I’ve been working my way up in distance) and I DID! I even finished in my time goal (and since it was my first half, I got an immediate PR :-P).
To get back into running
My goal is to run a 10k in august
Great post, thanks for sharing! I am personally not a runner but you are so inspirational. Hope you’re having a great day!

My running goal this summer is to train for the shakori 40 so I can run my first ultra! It takes place in November in Pittsboro, NC. I have been running and racing for over 15 years now and wanted to challenge myself and get way out of my comfort zone. My ultimate goal is the qualify for the Uhawairre 100 in the NC mountains. Started my training this week and I know I will be running through my sneakers quickly! Would love to try something new ?
I had a baby in October, so I am trying to get back up in mileage. I want to sign up for a half this fall!
My running goal is to get back into it after an injury last fall (and stay healthy)!
This is such a generous giveaway! Thank you to everyone involved.
My running goal is LISTEN TO MY BODY! Run the speed and miles it wants until my base is good enough that I can start to push myself. 🙂
My running goal for 2019 is to work hard training this Summer so I can have my best season of cross country yet this Fall and beat my PR of 21:02. This especially means a lot to me because, as a senior, this is my last year running high school cross country!
I would love to work up to some shorter runs after not running my whole first trimester. I don’t love running when I’m pregnant, but have really been wanting to do it lately!
My goal is also to run 2-3 times per week! I currently only run 1x week so I want to try to be more consistent, especially as it’s finally getting nicer out where I live!
My goal will be to get back to running after baby boy comes in August! Would love to build up enough to run a turkey trot.
my goal is to do strength training 5x/week!
My running goal is to run a half this fall!
My goal for this year is another half marathon! I’m trying to talk hubby into Asheville in the Fall.
My goal is to get back to running for FUN – no pressure, no guilt, no strings attached 🙂
My goal was to run 30 miles for my 30th birthday and on May 29th I did it! Prior to starting training the farthest I had run was 17 miles. I live in Florida so it was HOT by the time I finished even though I started at 5 am. I cried when that 30.0 popped up on my watch.
I accomplished running a half marathon at 8 weeks pregnant! Much harder than I expected even though I was only 8 weeks pregnant. HA! My goal is to get back into running shape towards the end of 2019 after having my baby boy!
My goal for 2019 is to RUN AGAIN! I have a 7 month old and we just moved to a neighborhood so I hope to run with him around here!!
My goal is to do some shorter distances and PR in those! I’ve always liked the long distances but ready to speed up for shorter amounts of time.
My current running goal is training for a marathon in the fall. It will be my first one since having babies, so training looks different now . I hear you on the stroller runs being tough work!! My littlest is right around Finn’s age and enjoying the stroller so much.
I plan to get myself in running shape (including not only running but strength training, stretching and massages) by October o run a half!
My goal: I WILL beat my 5k trail race time and PR my half marathon road time. Coming back to running has been rocky for me postpartum, so thank you for sharing your experiences!
I hope to run my first half marathon in the fall of 2019!
I want to continue to up my mileage as I am healing from an injury and work towards a half marathon this fall.
My running goal is to build my mileage back up since having a baby in December 🙂
I have an almost 4 month old and would love to get back to my pre-baby running pace for a 5K! Those shoes are awesome.
I would love to get back to running half marathons again in the second half of 2019. The first half of this year has been filled with injuries and setback but I am ready to make a change and move forward with training and getting back to where I was a year or two ago with my running!
My goal for 2019 was to cut back on long distance running. Every time I did a 10-13 mile run, I’d never feel good afterwards – tires, sore, etc. And it was ruining my love of running. So, I cut back my long distances to the 5-7 mile range and try for 9 miles once per month if I feel up to it. My body is much happier and I’m enjoying my runs again!
this is awesome <3
My goal is to continue running as long as I can pregnant, and to continue to include my kids so that we can have fun outings. I am 31 weeks and run about 4 times a week around 5-6mi. Now that my kids are all home for the summer, I push them in the double-let me tell you this has been tough!!
But the greatest part is my 5 year old learned how to ride her bike and she bikes next to me, and sometimes runs with me for smaller distances. It has been fun to make 2019 more of a family outside adventure!
My goal is to run twice a week. I had stopped running last year but I am getting back into it, albeit slowly with lots of walking breaks!
My running goal this summer is to build up my mileage so that I can run a half this fall!
My goals are to: volunteer for at least one race and participate in a trail work day as a way to support the running community.
I want to run 1000 miles in 2019…so I guess that makes my second half goal for 2019 to run 500 miles. 🙂
I used to run a lot and run in Newton’s. I had some knee issues to work through and decided to try brooks as I’ve eased back into running. But as you know, Newton’s are the best and as I am able to increase my mileage back up my longing for my Newton’s has also increased. Good timing For me on your blog post!! 🙂
My goal is to run 2-3 times per week this summer. Love the Newton brand, and I’m in need of a new pair!
My goal is to finish first trail half in the fall!
My goal is to just enjoy running, and attempt using my double jogger now that I have 2 kiddos. I always loved using the single on runs, but I’m a bit terrified to try the double 🙂
ha! that is VALID!
My running goals include 1. running longer distances on a consistent basis (8-12 miles…mostly to zen out to a podcast and de stress), 2. focus on improving flexibility (actually have found a major difference from switching to a standing desk for my hamstrings !!) 3. Pick a fun half marathon to travel to (tbd but may map out a long run for my trip but to France/London to site see and call that a win).
Push myself to run faster!
Hoping for a PR half. I’ve run 3 since I had my baby 2.5 years ago and they’ve all been terrible so I’m looking for redemption.
I am back into running after suffering with a sprained ankle last year. I would like to push myself more by training for an upcoming race, possibly an 8k.
Training for my first half post pregnancy! I will be 6 months out when I aim for the Greenville Spinx half in late October. Hoping to start running/training next week at 8 weeks PP! No time goal, just cross the finish line 🙂
There is a charity half-marathon that I always run in November…this year I am going to be 7 months pregnant, but I’m DETERMINED to still run/walk it!! We’ll see if it happens, but I’m feeling great so far, so I’m keeping this goal for now!!
I have a goal to train for a fall half. Usually I am training for a full marathon and the half is just a training run, so I would really like to put effort into getting a PR this time.
I haven’t done a race in 2 years since starting CrossFit! My goal would be to get back out there and sign up for a race
I’d love to set a PR in the Marine Corp Marathon and qualify for Boston!
Being 6 months postpartum, my goal is to run a half marathon in November!
I am hoping to get back into running after a back injury and having 2 kids. My goal is be able to fit in 2 runs a week while working full time, and also learning to incorporate stretching and strengthening to prevent another injury.
My goal is to run my 50th marathon (and 20th NYC marathon) and to have more smiles per mile than last year!
My goal is to run a marathon this fall! I had a baby at the beginning of the year and training for a marathon is my way of making sure I take time for myself
Those shoes are so fun! After injuring my back and going through physical therapy my goal is to slowly ease back into it and be able to run a 5k again!
love newtown’s and I love their crazy colors. my running goal for the second half of 2019 is to run another marathon. I ran one last year and it just wasn’t my day, i’m ready to redeem myself and crush it.
My goal is to PR in a half marathon this fall!
My running goal is to PR in the Chicago Rock-n-Roll half this July.
I would like to be able to run the 10K distance again! Right now I usually only do 3-3.5 miles because I am pushing my 15 month old in the jogging stroller!
My goal is to start once again since I fell off during the winter. My body and mind are truly missing it! Competing with no one but myself but enjoyment of the freedom and pleasure that only running brings me.
I’d love to run a half marathon this year.
I love those shoes and have been in the market for new running shoes. This spring, I reached my goal of a 5k under 25 minutes (24:10). This fall I have set a goal for my 5k to be under 24 minutes!
I’ve registered for two halfs this fall. Hoping to focus on speed training. I know can do the distance!
Hoping to break 21 in the 5k! Great giveaway!
I’m going to start Couch to 5k.
Hi Jen! Perfect timing for a shoe rec, I’ve been a Nike girl but something feels off about the last pair I purchased, I plan to return them but am in search of a solid running shoe! I got a spot in the Marine Corps Marathon in October. I wasn’t exactly expecting it, it’s a popular race w a lottery but here we are. I have run one full in my life but it was like 7 years ago! I’m already a bit nervous, trying to listen to my body and make this training as gentle as possible.
My running goal is to improve my speed and focus on proper stretching!
My running goal is to get back to a place where I can run for at least an hour without stopping. Right now I am doing runs of about 30 minutes, but really want to be able to log some longer runs and build my speed a bit.
I would love to break my marathon PR. I think I was in shape to do it in Boston in April, but the warm weather impacted me too much.
I ran my first marathon this spring! It was an amazing experience, and I am hoping to repeat it next spring. And a half marathon this fall.
Get my mileage up to 2 miles per run–the first half of 2019 I managed to build up to being able to do 1.5 miles without walking breaks. I also need to stretch daily.
My goal is to run a 5k this fall! I started a run/walk program this spring and had to stop a few weeks because of an annoying foot pain. Feeling back to normal and ready to get on the road!
More stretching and Houston marathon 2020!
Love the Newton Fate’s! They’d be perfect in helping me reach my goal of a half marathon PR this fall (sub 1:41:25!)
One of my goals was to run a sub-2 half marathon (my previous best was 2:21) – nailed it in May with a 1:58:49 and I definitely credit your 3 day a week training plan from the Charlotte Half! Thank you again!
I have never run before but I do yoga and high Fitness I would like to set a goal of starting to run a mile a couple times a week.
My goal is to be ready for a 5K by the end of July! I just started up C25K (again) and finished week 1 this week.
I am training to run the Kiawah half marathon in December.
I have never tried Newton tennis shoes but would love the opportunity to train in them!
I took a break in running to do more cross-training but want to get back into it by running at least 3 times a week and doing a half this fall/winter.
I run 2 – 3 days a week on lunch break.
Fall Mini is the Urban Bourbon!!
Would love to try a pair!
Trying to get back to running a 5k in under 24 minutes. I was there 2 years ago and would love to do it again!
– Thanks!
My 2019 running goal is to run a 5K again by the end of the year. I love running, but complications from a foot surgery along with multiple other surgeries last year have kept me off the pavement the last few years. Running is my happy place and I miss it so much! Can’t wait to finally get back into it this year!
I ran my 7th marathon in my 7th state just last weekend! I am typically a Brooks girl when it comes to running, but would love to try the Fate 5’s for my summer running and to the gym for strength training classes!
My goal is to start running again after a 3 year hiatus!
I have two! Get my 5k under 30 mins and run a 5k without walking!
My goal is for a new half marathon PR this fall!
Goal=no injuries this year! Lowered my mileage while still running consistently, so far no injuries this year, yay!
I’m competing in my first half Ironman!!
My daughter and I are training for the Kiawah half in December. We ran it together last year and was so fun! Thankfully she ran at my pace with me. This will be my 4th half marathon and shhhhhh – running is my least favorite form of exercise……I am a former Mizuno runner and would LOVE to try these!!
It’s been so hot in the South that I’ve given up running over the past few months. My goals are to wake up early twice a week to start training for a 10K in a couple months.
I’d like to start training for a winter marathon 🙂
My goal is to PR at the Seawheeze Half in August!
my goal is to run around my park twice without being out of breathe in a steady run.
i am training for at least TWO halves – the Lululemon SeaWheeze in Vancouver in August and the Smokey Mountain Half in September. Hoping to PR – these will be half marathons 18 and 19 for me!
I’d really love to start running again after two kids. I am hoping with a new summer schedule I can get back at it!
I have two running goals:
1. To improve my mile time at the next Orangetheory Signature Workout
2. Run a 5k without having to walk
My goal for this year is to run a race with my brother! He is finding his way back to running and I want to support his journey!
Finn looks so cute in the stroller. Yeah, stroller running is no joke! It keeps getting worse as they get bigger, haha! My running goal is to get back to where 5 miles is doable for me. Right now I can go 2-3 but anything more feels like too much. I need to just get out there and do it!
I will be training for a November Half….the first since having my babies. I am so happy to be coming back to these kinds of distances. Yay!
Hoping for another half (or two!) this year! My favorite distance. First and foremost though, I want to get back to 8-10 feeling good like you!
My running goal is to get started again after a loooong hiatus (injury-related)!!
I injured my knee over the winter and so I am just working towards getting back to running. Slowly – but I’m getting there.
My goal is to run the Malibu Half in November!
My goal is to run longer…pushing myself harder!
I have run 3 half marathons and took a hiatus and slowly building g back up but starting with a 5k and go from there. Sure missed it.
My goal for running is to be able to comfortably run 6 miles and cut down the amount of times that I need to stop!
I am so proud to report that after 3 years of dealing with a foot injury I was finally able to do a half marathon again my May. Cross training was so helpful in finding some balance in my body. Toning my mileage back down for the summer but aim to run 2-3 times per week 3-6 mi runs. Maybe another race this fall.
I have competed in as part of a Relay Triathlon for several years and we have always won 1st place. My goal is to train hard and win again this year. The majority of my running is done pushing a stroller with a 3 year old!
My goal is to run 3 miles without stopping at least twice a week.
My goal is to get to the bottom of what’s causing my shin splints so I can keep running regularly and do some fun races later this year! Maybe some new shoes are just what I need?!
My goal is to start running again. I have taken time off for injuries but need to get back at it!
I would like to run 2-3 times per week. May be difficult as I have a 3.5 month old baby!
I would love to be able to get my first 10 miler done by the end of 2019! And to win these shoes to complete it 🙂
My goal is to increase my distance and speed.
My running goal is to run a marathon by the end of 2019 – complete 26 miles when I am still 26 years old 🙂
My favorite shoes are my Mizunos. My goal is to run a 5K this fall.
My goal was to complete my first half marathon and I did it with a time of 2:08. My next goal is to shave off 9 minutes!
Since having 2 kids, knee and hip pain I had backed off with running and have been mostly walking with some jogging. At the beginning of the year I made a goal to try running again and have done 2 5k runs and both felt pretty good so I’ve signed up for 3 more this summer. I’d like to work up to running a 10k also (but that’s far enough for me!).
My first running goal was to run my first full in Utah this past weekend but due to military obligations, and then some devastating tornados, that did not happen. My new goal is to run the Air Force Full in September which I will then be able to say I have ran in all the categories for that race (5k, 10k, half and now full) which is pretty cool.
My goal is to run a Half in November!
I want to run my second full marathon and get a PR 🙂 Hoping to get under 4:00. Thanks for such a fun giveaway. I would love to try Newtons!
I ran my first marathon in April!!
I had my second baby in January so my goals are small this year, but I’d love to run a 5k or 10k this Fall 🙂
My goal for 2019 is to go from zero to half marathon by the fall, and hopefully be there at the Charlotte half with you! I am so glad running has been such a positive support in your life – you have definitely inspired me to get back out there.
I’d love to get back into longer runs. Its been hard as i have 2 year old twins and they can only sit so long…hoping to find time early am to go or after my husband gets home!
My goal has been to just get back into consistently running about 2 times a week and so far I’m doing good! My girlfriends and I signed up for the Charlotte marathon (relay) in November so I’m working my way up to 5/6 miles!
I’ve been wanting to try Newton’s forever!! And I’m in desperate need of new running shoes;)
I moved to a new province late last year, and am now in the heart of mountain and trail-running country. I have been training and am running my first trail half marathon this Saturday! I have done quite a few 21km road runs and was surprised at how much more challenging the distance is off the beaten track, but it is so rewarding, I am absolutely hooked!
My goal for 2019 was to run my first half marathon. I ran one at the end of March, and am training again for another one at the beginning of October!
I’d love to do a half marathon again this fall. This would be half marathon number 10! However, after the baby and with work (mine just turned one a little over a week ago), I had a weak pelvic floor after birth and have been going to PT to help strengthen it as well as relieve a lot of muscle tension I had. So I was slow to return to running. Which kinda made me sad since I actually ran my first marathon when I was 10 weeks pregnant, so I was at the top of my game and now I’m having to do a lot of rebuilding. But I wouldn’t change anything and my baby girl is worth it times a hundred! I’m back to running, but currently can only find time after I get her off to daycare and before I start work. So my time is very limited, but something is better than nothing and one day I’d like to return to that level of endurance!
Running goal: to run 9 miles! I’ve done it once a few years ago and I’d love to do it again- but I want to feel conditioned for it! I love how running “holds me”… it’s an incredible place for me emotionally, spiritually- it’s an incredible release!
I just registered for a marathon in november! It will be my 42nd marathon, but my first one post baby!
Continue running 5 days a week!
I achieved my goal of running a half marathon earlier this year….14 mths post partum…better late than never!
My goal is to increase my mileage over the next few months until I can comfortably run 7-8 miles. I’m at 5 right now, so here’s hoping I can continue injury free. Thanks for the motivation!
I’d love to run a half marathon under 1:55.
my running goal was to come back from hip injury and run BIG SUR MARATHON and I did!!
I would love to run a Disney race!
make it to more group running things, 930 am saturday here I come!
My goal is to push someone in a wheelchair during a marathon. I’d love for someone else to experience the pure joy running and racing marathons brings me and running is always about something bigger than myself. To have the honor to raise awareness or money for a charity is my 2019 goal.
Wow that is so amazing!
My goal is to find my way back into running after having a baby. He is one now, and I work full time. It seems like there are never enough hours in the day!
My running goal is simply to be kinder to myself. Less pressure to be perfect. More gratitude for the ability to run and more joy!
My goal is to run in the Golden Gate Half Marathon & 5K November 3 in San Francisco
I’m training for my seventh half…hoping to PR this fall!
My goal is to pick a destination half to do in 2019.
My goal is to run 2-3 times a week for the rest of 2019. I used to run 5-6 days a week and then I had my baby and it’s so hard to find the time but running is my stress reliever and I need to make it a priority again!!
I have found running again and it has been so great for me emotionally and physically. I plan on doing the Charlotte half in November again or look to do one in another city in the fall 🙂
I only run at Orangetheory and want to run 3miles outside on my own.
My goal is to increase my runs from 4ish miles to 6-8 miles on the regular. I need new shoes!!
I would love to pace the Charlotte Half again this year at the 1:40 pace!
On Memorial Day weekend, I ran my first postpartum marathon eleven months after having my second baby, with a 5 minute PR! (that’s a lot of numbers in one sentence) It was NOT easy to get up before the kids and work to run in the cold and dark and snow all winter, so I’m super proud of this one. Would love to incorporate some Newtons into my running life!
After an injury early in 2018, I’m finally back in the saddle with running! I tackled a 10k in the spring and am just gearing up to start my training for a half (In Paris!!) this fall!!
I ran the Boston Marathon in April (and got another BQ and an NYC marathon qualifying time!). Those QTs are for 2020, not thinking that far ahead but looking at a fall half. Haven’t decided yet. I love bright running shoes!
I do like Newton shoes and having ran in them for a while now but did love them. I am kind of shoe nerd:-) I have On’s, Brooks, Altra’s, and Hoka now but would love a new pair of Newton’s. I am excited to run another marathon in Scotland this year. It will be number 27……I am excited and my goal is just to have fun and enjoy the scenery. If I have a good day, I’ll see what happens for a 4:05 or less:-)
I’m dying to do another half marathon — I’m 4 months post-baby and have a goal to run one by the end o 2019!
My goal had been to run 1-2x a week and it’s going well! I’ve been incorporating running workouts a couple times a week for the past month so hoping to keep it up 🙂
Those shoes are so cute! My spring goal was to win the masters division at a local 10k as it came with a $200 cash prize. I did it and set a new 10k PR in the process!
I’m trying for a 10 miler in August & would love to run sub 75 min. My son is 10.5 month away old and I’m trying to get back to 25 mile weeks
My running goal is to run with the jogging stroller…once baby girl is old enough!
My goal is to finish the Couch to 5K program! It’s not a marathon, but it’s a start!
My goal is to make time to take my 1 year old running! My oldest loved it, I know my second would too.
Get back to running post baby!
Working towards running an 8:30 pace for 5 miles.
Run a half marathon!
I haven’t been running in over a year and hoping to get back into it this summer w the nice weather in the early mornings and get back up to 5 miles at a time!
Training for Charlotte half in November. Post baby #3! Would love a new pair of shoes ! ?
I’d like to try to run 1-2 times a week. I do strength training most days but want to incorporate running into my routine!
My goal is to get back to enjoying an 8-10 mile run. I had a c-section 10 weeks ago so this goal seems like a long shot right now but your stories give me hope!
Plan ahead 3 runs per week on a set schedule — the sporadic, non-scheduled way stresses me out!!!
Get out 3x a week and start enjoying running again!
I ran for distance last year and this year I’m working on speed. Hoping to crush some pr’s in the second half of this year!
My first goal that I have already accomplished for 2019 is going out and running with my husband. I am known as someone who hates running so this is a big deal! Second goal is to run a 5K soon.
I have run two half marathons in the past and was registered for a third, but had a baby last July so my running has come to a stop. My goal is to run the third half marathon in 2020!
My goal is to be able to run a 50 minute 12k at next year’s Bay to Breakers by running 3-4 times a week and incorporating a designated sprint day at the track.
I used to be a big time runner and then had two kids. I’ve already reached my goal of getting back into running post-second baby (she’s 6 months old). I’m psyched to be back in ok running shape!
My running goal is to move from the treadmill to outdoors. There is something safe about a warm-up run on the treadmill but I want to go out of my comfort zone and hit the pavement!
I just want to be more consistent. With two small kids it can get really hard to find the time to run every week.
To keep running throughout my pregnancy!
I’m working myself back into running after taking a nearly 8 month break because of constant injuries. My goal is to get back up to being able to walk out the door and crank out three miles easy. Baby steps.
My goal is to make running a priority again!!!!
My goal is simple: start running again. ? It’s too cold where I live (to me) for outdoor running in the winter, so I’ve been relying on my spin bike for cardio. Time to get back outside!!
Trying to just get back in the groove of running regularly, but I would love to PR my 5k since I’m focusing on shorter distances this year!
Working up to running 5k’s consistently after having arthroscopic knee surgery for meniscus repair! Knee feels better now than prior to surgery! Doctor said OK!
I signed up for the Charlotte half in November (my first one since baby!). I’d love to try these shoes – they sound amazing. And I’m going to need lots of run therapy soon because we just got bad news today from the vet on our second dog ??
Run my first half marathon without breaking a leg (literally…?). I ended up with a broken ankle 3 weeks before my first scheduled half in February. Building back up to train again!
I’m training for a half marathon that is at the end of this year! I’ve run 3 full marathons but those were all pre-babies. So this will be fun!
My running goal is to build my base again. I run 3 miles 2-4x a week. Would like to increase to 5 miles runs agai.
I would love to run another 5k! ?
Goal to run the Charlotte half!
I had a baby ( via emergency C-section) 7 months ago. Goal is to make it up to a 10 mile race by his first birthday!
Hi Jen! My goal is to be able to run 5K with my twins in the jogging stroller! ??????♀️
Run a 5k and half marathon before the end of the year and PR both of them ??
my running goal is to stay injury free—to enjoy my miles without over doing it or ramping up too quickly!
I had my second baby in September 2018 and after each baby, my goal was to complete a half marathon- I completed my post-baby #2 half marathon in April, and with a PR! Feeling so thankful for being a woman! What amazing, powerful bodies we have been given!
Training for my second half marathon that will take place this October. Feeling nervous because my first one was three years ago and this course is much hillier!
I’ve never actually been a runner…I hope it isn’t s bad goal to want to try to add ten minutes after yoga and build from there!
I’m running my very first marathon -NYC! – this fall. My goals are not to freak out and give training everything I can. I’m also doing the Charlotte Marathon relay this year for the first time. I would love to try out these shoes!
I am training for the NYC marathon at the beginning of November. Love the color of these shoes! A pop of color is always so fun!
My goal is to run the Beat the Blerch 1/2 Marathon in the Seattle area in August!!?
Goal is to be smart coming back from tendonitis and pr in the half again!
Running my 2nd half of the year in july and going for a Pr!
I want to get faster. New shoes might help!
I’d love to start running with my eldest son (4.5). Even if just for a mile! He loves to “run” and I think it would be a special time for us ?
I am about to start training for a half marathon race in September. I have run 6 halfs before but have nit ran one in over a year (tool a break from distance running to focus on strength and other forms of exercise). Excoted to run another!
I would love to run a half marathon before the end of the year! I didn’t run as much during my second pregnancy but finally in a place where I enjoy running again! I have tried so many different running shoe brands and have some I like but not LOVE, maybe Newton’s are the ones!
Run a race! I’ve been on a hiatus for almost a year and a half, just running casually without training and I’m feeling the itch again!
I’d love to get over my PF (plantar fasciitis) and run a half this year .
Run the Richmond half in November. It’s been on my list of halves to run for awhile now, the stars may align this year to make it happen. Never tried Newton’s but would love to get a pair for training this summer.
Running a half with my parents this year, on my moms 60th birthday!
So cool!
I’m 6 months postpartum- my goal is to get back to my pre baby pace and distances!
July half! Incorporating weights for the first time and piyo. Hope to get my strong running legs back 🙂
I’ve had an overall goal this year of taking time for myself, and getting back into running is a big part of that! After my son, who has Down syndrome, was born four years ago, I threw myself 100% into his care and put fitness on the back burner for too long. Now that he’s in a good place health- and education- wise, I’m excited to hit the road again!
Ah sending you so much love mama. <3
I am pregnant (due in September) and have put running to the side in favor of walking/weight training/HIIT because running was causing some discomfort. Once I am healed from delivery, my goal is to train for a half marathon in 2020.
Running goal 2019 –
Overcome my fear of injury and get back into running and get back to runs 3-4x per week and eventually get back into half marathons!! (Stopped years ago due to recurrent knee injury… taking it slow!)
My goal is to run a half marathon! I had signed up for one for April before i found out I was pregnant. My belly got a lil too uncomfy and I was unable to attend. As soon as I’m all healed from my angels delivery I’m getting back into my running game!
My running goals for 2019 are to continue running 3-4x per week. I would like to get faster but I seem to have one speed. Lol
Training for my first half. ?
After battling some tough medical challenges all year, my goal is just to get running again! It’s going to take a lot of baby steps, but I can’t wait to get back into it!
I ran my first half in 5 years this spring and have a fall half on the books as well. In the meantime I’m doing the RFYL 6 Pack (long series)!
My second kid is a little older than Finn, and I want to get back to comfortably running more than 5 miles again-I seem stuck at 4!
I’ve had a love hate relationship with running, but I’d love to get back to 2-3 runs per week and to run a 5k in under 30 minutes!
This is an amazing giveaway!!! I accomplished a sub 8 min pace for a half this year!! That was my goal!
My goal is to run pain free from a chronic lower back pain?it’s one day at a time and one step after the next. I love running and I am not willing to give it up until I am 80??♀️???♀️Hope to be blessed for a long running life ❤️
My goal is to do a longer fall race… 15k or half! ?
To beat my PR for a Half Marathon and help train my Fiance for his first Full Marathon!
I have always made excuses not to run, but deep down I know I’ve wanted to be a runner. My goal for the second half of 2019 is to do one 2 mile run over week. It sounds small, but I know I can do it!
I ran an 8k in May (one of my goals for 2019) and I plan to run a 10k in September.
My goal is to slowly build back to regular 3 mile runs after a knee injury.
Honestly….run healthy. I am currently injured after PRing my half distance a few weeks ago. I’m going to need all the motivation to get myself back out there once I am healed. I have a ways to go. Running is such a large part of my life and it makes me so sad I can’t run right now. I need to get back to running and being healthy.
I am training today the beast of the east race in need hampshire this fall. SO excited.
My running goal for 2019 is to simply be able to get back to running. I gave birth to my first born baby, a son, in May and haven’t ran since. I am soaking up this time with him during this stage but hope to be back at it soon and hopefully with him as my riding partner! You inspire me!
My goal is to be able to heal my foot to where I can start running again. Been dealing with a foot injury for 2 months now with no end in sight. Would love to heal and get back to running the second half of the year.
I’ve always wanted to run. But I have to lose a lot of weight to get there. I’m 51 and believe I can. My goal is to get fit so I can.
I’ve been running for over 10 years competitively but the last two years I’ve been overtaken by injuries. 2019 is a year for me to really listen to my body, take care of it so I can race a half marathon this fall and eventually run another marathon one day!
I used to run in Mizunos too and have never found a new shoe to replace them- then again I’ve not yet been introduced to the Newton Fate 5 and would love to try them! I classify myself as a former runner after having kids but with my second turning one like Finn I’m wanting to get myself back in shape again and am tired of feeling so sluggish – I keep saying I want to start running the trails around our new neighborhood and am hoping to break it in with short runs a few days a week and work my way up through the year.
My goal is to run the St. Jude half marathon in December!
I’d love to BQ this year or early 2020!!
Running my first half in almost a year!
7 weeks postpartum! And so proud to have done a few runs now. Goal is to be at my 8-9 min pace by the end of the year and find a routine for running and be consistent with it. I love how easy it is to be consistent with running because it’s enjoyable for me ❤️
I cross-train between casual runs, OTF, and strength-training, but with the nicer weather, I want to be outside more than working out inside, so I’ve joined a local trail-running group and will run the Hoot & Half trail marathon this August. Last weekend I ran what is possibly my first time of having ran 9 miles straight through without stopping – a PR in itself for me!!
My goal is to run a 10k this year. I take an intuitive approach to running, so some months I run multiple times a week and other times I don’t run at all. I forced myself for years to run a certain amount and I no longer do that. I do whatever exercise feels good for my mind and body. ? I’m thinking my 10k will be this fall.
I run all different routes and have a blast doing it but there is one route that I take that has this steep hill that then leads to another steep hill after only a small bit of flat terrain and I’d love to be able to run all the way up that second hill and have it be effortless. I’m slowly working my way to being able to do a little more each week.
A goal would be to run more. I am a big walker and only run ocassionally.
My goals are running the RBC Race for the Kids in Minnesota in 40 minutes in August and the Baltimore Half in 1:50 in October!
I love running! Will continue to enjoy every morning run this year and try not to overdo it so I can continue running long into the future!
running a half in the fall!
I want to run 35 miles on my 35th birthday in July!!
Almost 40 years ago running x-country in school, to a Police Academy 25 years ago to now almost 50, I am walking 5 to 9 miles a day with my pup JD to hit a goal by fall to run a 5K. Recently diagnosed with Lupus and Jugular Vein Distention and lost 25 lbs…. I’m looking foward to bettering myself more ways than one!!! A new pair of sneakers would be great to help get me out of logger work boots!!! Thank You!!
I’m coming back from an injury and after 6 months, the struggle is real. My goal is to continue working on my stretching & strength training (I’m horrible at stretching like I should) while training for a Half in the Fall.
I absolutely want to run a half marathon in the fall this year…it WILL happen!
My goal is to run a half marathon in the fall.
I just need to get started! Thinking about switching from bodybuilding to running :O
