Hello and happy weekend. I’m a little behind on daily updates since I wrote the “Reactions” post on Thursday and took a blog break on Friday. For the most part, I don’t have too much to report. Just the usual…lots of yoga and teaching.
One thing I do want to share is a really awesome workout that I did on Thursday night at Fight Gone Mad.
Fight Gone Mad is a new fitness concept that one of our local Crossfit gurus, Brandon Cullen, is opening. Here’s a quick snapshot of FGM from their website:
Each day will begin with a warm up specifically designed around joint mobility. It’s goal is to prepare your body for that days challenges.
This program is built around intensity. The 45 minute class leaves little room for anything less. You and you alone will dictate the intensity of your day. As you improve you will learn to push limits you never thought possible.
You will experience :
* Movements that cause the body to adapt and change.
* Unorthodox equipment which will challenge your comfort zone.
* Countless variations to produce dramatic results.
I was super excited about the workout since it was so different from what I usually do.
Here’s how it worked…we did five different exercises for one minute with no rest in between. We did three sets of this and took a one minute break between each set. Here are the exercises:
– Ball Slams
– Rower
– Box Jump
– Bike
– Push Press
We did a quick warm up and then got into the workout. It was only 17 minutes long but very intense. You had to pace yourself and know where you could rest/back off a bit and where to really push it.
I loved how cardio intensive the workout was. I felt like I got a great cardio session in without having to run.
It took me a while to get the hang of the ball slams. I am so very uncoordinated. The push press at the end nearly did me in. My shoulders were in agony!
We were all a sweaty mess by the end! Much thanks to Brandon for taking us through a sample workout. I will definitely be back!
It was also fun to get to play with some of the equipment since we will be holding our bootcamps at Fight Gone Mad starting in November! Check it out.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend! I’m off to a Halloween party tonight and it’s going to be pretty amazing! 😉
Have fun at the party!! What did you end up going as??
I love different workouts like this! It looks awesome 😀
Looks like an intense workout!! But then again, those are the best kind.
Wow this looks really intense! I would love to try something like this…it looks kind of similar to Cross Fit. Maybe when I’m in a little bit better shape 🙂
After training for/running my first marathon, I’m a bit burned out — Crossfit is my next endeavor!
Will you continue working out with Fight Gone Mad?
that looks like such an intense and awesome workout!
This looks like such a great concept and workout! I would love to go to a class with you sometime if you go again. I need something like this to kick my butt!
