I like to keep you guys on your toes. In the span of three days we’ve gone from a salmon recipe to a yoga/personal growth story to a workout and now a beauty products review. 🙂
I am not affiliated with any of these products…I just love them and want to share since I love purchasing new products via personal recommendations.
1. Laura Mercier Amethyst Caviar Stick
I have been using Laura Mercier cosmetics for years and have been a long-time lover of the Caviar Stick. It’s a versatile eye stick that can be worn as liner or shadow. I recently picked up a new color at the recommendation of one of the girls at the counter and I have been wearing it every day since! It’s perfect for day and night wear. For day I just use it to give a subtle shimmer liner and at night I used it more as a shadow and pair it with a darker liner close to my lashes. It’s so pretty and neutral and I can’t recommend this shade enough.
2. Lancome Shimmer Pink Pool Blush
The number one thing my mom said to me growing up in regards to beauty products was to put on a little blush to brighten me up a bit. I have since become a lifelong blush fanatic. I tend to go for bold pinks. They look like a little much at first glace but they give such a great pop of color and a little goes a long way. I used to wear Lancome in high school and I recently picked up a few new products from them. This blush is one of my faves!
3. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20
Last time I visited the Laura Mercier counter to restock on my concealer I agreed to a small touch up since it was a rare Saturday that the counter wasn’t slammed. Usually I can’t get in and out of there fast enough because it’s such a zoo. This is how I ended up with the Amethyst Caviar Stick but I also came home with a new tinted moisturizer. IT’S PERFECT! It goes on smoothly, hydrates and provides really good coverage given that it’s a tinted moisturizer and not a foundation. It’s great for daily wear, especially since I’m in the gym and yoga studio all day. I feel like I have coverage but not too much and it really radiates on my skin.
4. Lancome CILS BOOSTER XL Super Enhancing Mascara Base
If you are wanting more length, volume and overall definition with your lashes you need to do two things. 1) Curl them. 2) Use a mascara primer. I know you’re thinking, “mascara primer…really!???” YES. REALLY. I can’t even explain to you the difference it makes in the appearance of my lashes when I brush on a layer of this base before applying mascara. They almost look like fakes. It’s crazy! If you’re not looking for anything that dramatic for day, it’s a great tool for night looks too.
5. Joico K-Pak Shampoo and Conditioner
Let’s switch to hair to wrap it up. My grandmother got me totally hooked on switching up my shampoo and conditioner on the regular. I love showering at her house because she always has like five brands to choose from! One recent love is this Joico K-Pak. I picked it up at Ulta and I’ve really enjoyed it. The formula is meant to repair and strengthen hair. I do so much showering, ponytails, sweating and flat ironing that I almost always gravitate towards these types of formulas. The Joico shampoo and conditioner have left me with soft, manageable hair…even with the cold weather we’ve had!
Your turn…any new product discoveries? I love hearing recommendations!Â
Argan oil!!! I first tried it after reading about it through josie maran’s website. I use a less expensive version than hers but still like it. It is chemical free. I would love to try some of her cosmetics.
I received the Lancome mascara primer in one of Lancome’s free gifts with purchase a few years ago and I am SO happy I did. It’s amazing how great it makes my lashes look. I love versatile makeup since I don’t wear too much – I’ll have to check out the Caviar Stick!
Diorshow Iconic mascara! Best $30 spent on makeup. Since that’s about all I wear day to day, I thought it was worth the price…curls and lengthens!
Love these suggestions and I’ve been meaning to check Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer and concealer out.
My faves lately have been Alima mineral foundation (just a quick dusting to even things out for regular days), Lancome Definicils mascara (sooo lengthening and waterproof), and Aquaphor. Last one seems random but it’s DRY here and Aquaphor over lip balm at night is the only thing keeping my lips hydrated.
ooooo I want to try that tinted moisturizer! I love love love the urban decay naked palate, literally the only eyeshadows you will ever need, can go from natural in the day to ready to go out at night. I also love the smashbox glow blush, I am a huge blush fan as well!
I love that tinted moisturizer!! I also love Stila convertible color in Peony . It’s cream blush , and I think it looks more natural on my dry skin than a powder blush. I also like Mac eyeshadow in patina. It’s perfect light brown with a tiny bit of sheen that is perfect for everyday. I wear it with Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in Bourbon. It stays put!!!!
During one of my shampoo/conditioner ‘switch-ups” recently, I discovered Carol’s Daughter Monoi shampoo and conditioner, and they are completely amazing. I do a lot of heat styling, shower twice a day, etc, and am hoping to let my hair grow some, and this has done the trick. My hair is soft and strong, and it’s growing slowly but surely! I’ve been really trying to cut back on my beauty spending, but this is completely worth it- I ordered more yesterday!
Benefit “They’re Real!” mascara is AWESOME. Seriously, I give it a glowing endorsement. Also, I’ve recently reverted back to using old school Noxema, and my skin is thanking me.
wow! I’m not sure I even knew primer existed! (I’m kind of clueless with that stuff!) But I’m giving it a try! Might be just what I needed 🙂
In the South you can never have to much mascara. Will be checking out that mascara base at Sephora this week!
Love reading fav beauty products. Always gives me great ideas! Mascara is one of my favorite makeup items! Will try your primer recommendation! I feel like there’s a primer for everything now and they truly all make such a difference!
I absolutely love using Biolage shampoo and conditioner (and occasionally use the hair mask) for my hair but, like you, I also like switching up my hair products. I’m definitely going to try Joico. Thanks for the recommendation!
I love pink blushes too! I think the right shade really adds a youthful pop of color!
As far as switching up shampoos though, you don’t really need to if you love a certain brand. If you find that your products aren’t working as well as they should, you may just need to use a clarifying shampoo to get rid of any build-up. With that said, what girl can keep from trying new haircare products when there’s so many to try!?
Love when you switch it up. This week is like a variety pack 🙂
Lately loving Rahua hair products, Kjaer Weis makeup, and Tata Harper resurfacing mask (though this isn’t a new one – it’s a total staple). You are gorgeous, Jen! You look like you’re glowing.
