Hello, hello friends! I’ve been up since 5:30a (slept great, woke up naturally). I’ve meditated, caffeinated and eaten a good breakfast. I’m feeling energized and ready to tackle my Thursday. The first order of business is to check-in here to catch you up on the birthday celebrations and then I’m off to gym to lift.
FOUR-OCIOUS FINN
Finn turned FOUR yesterday!
These last four years have been some of the hardest of my life but they’ve also come with the greatest reward – a depth of love and joy that I never knew possible. I can wholeheartedly say that being Finn’s mom is the best thing that I’ve ever done.
Here are a few of my favorite things about Finn at four years old.
Finn has a beautiful spirit and a sweet soul. He is so perfectly himself.
Finn is outgoing and up for adventures but also loves quiet time and snuggles. I always joke that his love language is physical touch.
Finn is friendly, warm and social and never has any problems making friends wherever he goes. I admire that about him.
Finn is sensitive, empathic, intuitive and expressive of his emotions. I am proud of these qualities in him and they are something I will continue to nurture.
Finn is smart and funny. I am forever laughing at the things that come out of his mouth or asking him, “where did you learn that!?”
Finn is good-natured, well-adjusted and able to go with the flow. While co-parenting and living in two different places certainly has its challenges at times, I couldn’t be more lucky for Finn to feel so settled and loved no matter where he is.
FINN’S BIRTHDAY
Finn’s birthday started at his dad’s house. We met at preschool where I dropped off Finn’s class birthday treats and his dad dropped him off with his show and tell for leader day. The preschool directors and teachers warmly welcomed Finn as he walked up to the school cheering for him and yelling, “happy birthday!” He was all smiles!
I let Finn choose what he wanted to bring for his class birthday treat and it was donuts, without a question. I picked up an assortment from O.M.G. Donuts before school and received a report from his teachers that they were a hit.
Finn and I were actually at O.M.G. the day prior to his birthday to “sample donuts” and pick out what he thought his class would like best. 🙂 Love the way he goes chocolate first into the donut.
I picked Finn up from school around 12:45p so that we could spend a few hours together before he headed back to his dad’s house.
We did lots of snuggling (Finn’s request), opened presents and played outside.
I had to laugh at these inflatable dinosaurs that Finn brought to preschool for his leader day show and tell. We were a site to see walking in and out of the school with them.
I think it was a pretty great day for Finn!
The birthday celebrations will continue next week when Finn and I head to Florida to spend some time with my family.
THANK YOU!
Thank you for being here as I’ve shared so much of my motherhood journey here on my blog. I am so for all of the encouragement, support, shared stories, insights and love you’ve sent our way.
xoxo,
Jen
I LOVE the birthday “Four-ocious” theme! I have a little boy who loves dinosaurs and is turning 4 in September – I may have to borrow this. Thanks for sharing what Finn’s birthday celebration has looked like so far.
Happy Birthday dear Finn! This age is such a sweet spot bc they are so smart and funny and also know how to melt your heart with the sweetest I love you. They seem so grown up but at the same time, need those momma snuggles to feel grounded and safe. You are a lucky momma and Finn is also lucky to have you!
Jen, you are such a wonderful mother to such a fabulous, four-ocious, fun, four-year-old. Your posts and pictures make me smile. 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing your life with all of us! I hope you had a fantastically (ha) wonderful weekend with your family.
