Good morning. I woke up early to get a few quiet moments in before my day starts. I just had a coconut water green smoothie a lemon chia seed muffin and now I’m drinking a cup of dandelion tea. Overall, I’m feeling good but there is a lot happening right now. The final draft of my book is due next week and I have another big proposal due shortly after that. Metro is rocking after the grand opening of our newest location in South Charlotte so I’m working to provide a lot of marketing and social support around that. And I’m just in a major creativity phase at the moment where I have so many ideas swirling around in my head, specifically around this blog space, writing, yoga and expanding my training options outside of traditional one-on-one client sessions.
One of the things that I enjoy most about the path that I’m on professionally is the availability for continual growth as well as my motivation to keep growing and evolving as I continue to dive deeper into understanding my passions and what exactly I want each day to look like. It’s pretty freaking awesome to be able to craft what each day is going to look like and I’m grateful for it every day that I live it. I can’t explain the feeling of waking up every day and looking forward to the work that lies ahead of you…and it’s even more amazing that the work doesn’t really even feel like work.
I was just talking to my mom about all of this last night, specifically how scary it is to “let go” but how much easier it is to swim with the current instead of against it. I have received countless emails over the years from readers asking about how to make a huge career transition and I think it’s something that I may write a short series of posts on because I’ve learned so much over the last few years (and continue to learn more and more every day…eyes and heart must be open).

Speaking of career growth and development, I highly recommend reading The Crossroads of Should and Must. It’s the best thing I’ve read all week.

Have a happy Friday everyone!
I look forward to reading your series on career growth. I have yet to start my career, will soon enough when I start working towards my dental medicine degree.
I am dealing with this in some ways right now. I lost my job in August and have been trying to pave my own way since then. We are getting ready to move so I am using this as an opportunity to try and find what my passion is!
I would love to hear your words on career transitions and growth! I am just graduating college and I would love to own a business someday but obviously financially it is near impossible but I want to be able to work on the business and grow it while I take a job to make money and fill the time.
I WON! 🙂 What a happy Friday! Erin McDermott makes such beautiful jewelry and I am so thankful to be drawn.
Also, I love this statement, “I can’t explain the feeling of waking up every day and looking forward to the work that lies ahead of you…and it’s even more amazing that the work doesn’t really even feel like work.”
^^ That’s what I call LIVING! I’ve followed your journey since 2010 and it’s great to see that things are always changing/evolving — and that you feel like you’re on such a great path. When you love what you do, you can give of yourself and your unique talents in a way that no one else can. Everyone benefits!
Best of luck finishing your book and new proposal – all so very exciting!
Good luck on your book and your new proposal! So exciting!
Really bummed I didn’t win the Be Present necklace 🙁 It’s all good though…I just order 2! One for me and one for a friend’s birthday 🙂
I loooove all the readings you posted!! I have been bursting with creativity lately and have so many ideas about what direction to take my career. I feel like I was previously stuck in a rut of always doing what I should do or what I was supposed to do with my life, but I have finally found the confidence and courage to stay true to myself within my career path. It feels so wonderful.
Good luck finishing the final draft of your book 🙂
The “Should Must” article might have been one of the best articles- ever….I even gave it, its own folder in my mailbox so that I could read- and re-read…over and over….Incredible share- Thank you!
Dana
