I had a dream come true last night.
After over five years of Ellie Goulding fandom, I finally got to see her live in Charlotte and she was INCREDIBLE!
I have been a fan of Ellie Goulding since she released her first album back in 2010. She started becoming famous around the same time I started teaching yoga and her songs have been fixtures on my playlists. It’s rare that I put one together that doesn’t have an Ellie song or remix of one. I saw a bunch of yogis at the concert last night. I’d like to think I helped with spreading the Ellie love. 😉 (Haha, kidding.)
We arrived at the NC Music Factory around 7 p.m.
And ran into some friends at VBGB where we grabbed a quick dinner before the show.
I put my boneless chicken bites on top of a salad and topped it with ranch and balsamic.
Shortly after 8, we headed into the Uptown Amphitheater for the show. It was the most beautiful evening for an outdoor concert and the sky was so pretty as the sun was setting.
We spent the next two hours dancing and singing along with Ellie and a sold out crowd. Ellie Goulding was amazing. Her voice sounded just as good live as it does on records and she had a great personality. She played so many of my new and old favorites and often played the guitar and the drums herself. She’s so talented. You can get a play-by-play on Snapchat where I got a little video happy! 🙂 Follow me @ jendecurtins.
Also, Ellie Goulding is FIT! She looked great on stage. Word is that Ellie loves Barry’s Bootcamp and has transformed her body over the last few years through running and lifting. She looked so strong on stage.
After just 4 hours of sleep I was up and at the airport at the early hour of 4:56 a.m. this morning praying that I wouldn’t miss my 5:30 a.m. flight. I had to book a 5:30 a.m. flight with a connection because I bought my ticket last minute.
Security lines were crazy long (I thought the airport would be dead that early in the morning) and as usual, I got flagged by TSA for bringing breakfast long. They didn’t know what to make of my chia pudding but they agreed it was “congealed” enough not to be considered a liquid. I sprinted to my gate, made my flight and snoozed to Atlanta. Once I arrived in Atlanta I grabbed coffee and knocked out some work.
I arrived at my gate to discover all sorts of issues…missing aircraft, missing maintenance logs…it was a mess. But I have to hand it to Delta. They communicated super clearly through the entire delay and the captain even came out regularly to give us updates. They brought a snack cart out. When in doubt, bribe people with sweets and sodas. 😉
I’m flying down to Florida to visit the fam for the weekend. My mom and dad FINALLY joined the world of texting and I had fun sending my dad Bitmoji’s this morning. Side note, if you haven’t downloaded the Bitmoji app you need to! They provide way too much entertainment. My friends and I love sending them back and forth to each other.
We are finally wheels up and will be landing in Florida shortly. I’ll see y’all from the beach with some weekend updates. Can’t wait to give my sweet grandmother a big hug! 🙂
Happy Friday!
What’s the last concert you saw?
Any fellow Ellie Goulding fans?
What’s the weirdest food you’ve taken through security?
… girl … seriously … trying to get overnight oats thru TSA is hilarious … They were so confused the first time I brought them for an early flight, but said the same thing about being congealed (AFTER three of them had a conference pow-wow staring down at them :o). It’s to the point now, I just take the lid off and put it thru the conveyor belt with my carryon!! LOLOLOL
EVERY TIME! i can never make it through TSA without being stopped for something. today it was my dad’s sourdough bread…
my TSA guy was very impressed by how “solid” my chia pudding was!
mumford and son tomorow in Québec city.
So excited 🙂
they do such a great show. hope it was awesome!
you have way better travel luck than i do ! the last time i encountered delays like that i ended up almost having to sleep in the airport on the floor. the time before that flight was 2+ hour delayed. they didnt even care just said delay oh well. they wouldn’t even wave the charge for water for people who had already been at the airport for 4+ hours waiting on their flight. so annoying !!!
i love ellie ! i bet she is a great performer. and i am always taking crazy food with me but never try to carry on food like that in a pb jar since i assumed i would be given the H*LL NO from security since its in a jar that is greater than 3 ounces. i usually pack some food in my carry on but most in my checked bag depending on what it is and the weather. i mostly stick with pb packets, bars, nuts, granola, homemade cookies, etc. have a great trip !!!!!
I love Delta. These days, airline travel is a crap shoot regardless of what carrier you choose, but at least Delta tries to make the best of delays, etc. The Ellie concert looked fun! I would enjoy her live, I think. My last concert was Beyonce in Tampa! Going to be tough to top that one for a while.
They are seriously great. We are delayed again going home (due to weather which is totally out of their control) and they still brought snacks and drinks out to the gate!
Oh my gosh, we surprised a friend for her birthday/bachlorette party last night to see Ellie! I thought I was only going to know a couple songs, but knew almost every one! She was awesome! Completing the night would have been seeing the inspirational “peanut butter runner” 🙂 have a fun trip!
You are the best friends ever to do that for your bride/birthday friend. So glad you enjoyed the show and wish we’d have run into each other! 🙂
YUM I love VBGB and that venue. Glad you had a great time!
Thanks Nikki! It was such a fun night. I love VBGB too and man…what an operation they run on concert nights!
Wow, that is so awesome! Ellie Goulding has such a good voice, I would love to see her in convert. Bitmoji has been one of my new favorite apps LOL, I love the Game of Thrones ones.
You must go if she’s anywhere near you! Bitmoji is the best! I love those too!
Yeah I go to the same Barry’s class as Ellie sometimes and her PT (who’s also a Barry’s coach) Faisal is great!
Oh so jealous!!!! Where is this!? I am coming to visit. 😉
I just saw Ellie Goulding in Chicago! Loved it!
She’s just so amazing! Totally exceeded my expectations!
