Happy Friday and happy National Donut Day!
I’ve been dreaming about the apple fritters at The Donut Hole for months now and I think I’ll have to finally make it a reality when I visit my parents in a few weeks.
Has anyone else noticed how much donuts have risen in popularity lately? It seems like a lot of donut and bagel places as well as ice cream parlors shut down years ago and then we had this crazy rise of froyo and cupcakes. I feel like that’s dying down and now I’m seeing a lot of froyo places go out of business and we have new trendy donut shops popping up around town.
Anyway, let’s talk about some Friday I’m In Love. It’s been a couple of weeks!
First, I have THE BEST FRIDAY NEWS EVER! If you missed it on Facebook or Instagram, yesterday I shared that the vet called with the pathology reports from Sullie’s surgery and we don’t have to do chemo or radiation! They had a veterinary oncologist review the report and as of now she’s a Grade 2. This means that she is at a higher risk for getting more in the future but as of now they have not metastasized. We go in next Monday for a check up and she’ll hopefully get her staples out. She’s been so good about leaving them along and letting her incisions heal. They are so big so I’m proud of her.
Yay, yay, yay!!!!!
My friends at Kind sent me a selection of new bar flavors to try out and they are great! The Dark Chocolate Almond and Coconut tastes like a Girl Scout cookie and the Raspberry Cashew Chia will be a new go-to flavor for me. I haven’t tried the Black Truffle Almond and Sea Salt yet but it sounds really interesting and I tend to like anything truffle.
I have been loving warm weather runs, especially with Zoey tagging along. She loves running and the entire time we’re out on our runs she’ll keep looking back at me with this big smile and her tongue hanging out and her eyes say, “Is this really happening right now, Mom? This is amazing.” If you missed my letter to running on Global Running Day, check it out. I’m glad we’re in such a good place! 🙂
Y’all know I’m a coffee fanatic. I either French Press or make a pot of coffee every morning. Recently, I received a package from Marley Coffee with a selection of their coffees. The coffee is sustainably grown and ethically farmed, which is always a must for me when it comes to buying coffee.
I’ve been drinking Marley coffee for a couple of weeks now and I really like it. I was sent Mystic Morning, Lively Up and Buffalo Solider. Rohan Marley, the son of Bob Marley, is the founder of Marley coffee. You can read the whole story of how he became involved in the coffee industry here. The coffee is available on Amazon and through other retailers.
And finally, some link love.

I am so happy to hear the great news about Sullie! I can’t imagine the worry you endured during the past stressful weeks. Marley coffee is delicious and was lucky enough to try a bunch of samples at a blog retreat last year. I’ve had my eyes on that new chocolate mint Kind bar, but that raspberry cashew chia one has my attention too 🙂 happy weekending, Jen!
Thanks Sara. I am so relieved. She’s been so happy and her normal loving, playful self since the surgery. 🙂
Super excited about those Kind bars. I keep them in my car and my hiking backpack for when I need a little something before or after a hike or other workout. They last a long time, and can withstand heat, cold, and crushing, so they’re the perfect fall back snack to keep around for when I didn’t or couldn’t bring fruit etc.
Agreed, it’s so nice that they can withstand a little heat and being smushed!
the huff post article. needed that ! i seriously book marked it to read again as well.
I know, it’s so good. Glad it resonated with you!
Such good news about Sullie! So glad she is doing good!
Thanks Hilary! I am so thankful!
Happy news for sullie!
Also, I’ve seen “donut towers” or “donut displays” being a HUGE thing at weddings recently. I’m more of a cake person, but I won’t say no!
Yes, I’ve seen that too! Crazy!
I’m so happy for you and Sullie! That’s great news ?. I had no idea it was national doughnut day–so exciting ?. The black truffle seat salt Kind bar looks amazing!
Thank you Amanda!
Really like that Time article. I’ve recently gone back to work full time after having a baby and I’ve stopped prioritising exercise. That article has really made me think about what I need to put first in life. Thank you for sharing. Also, very glad to hear about Sullie. My first dog was a golden, they’re the best! Have a great weekend!
Hey Kate – thanks for taking a moment to share. I had to jump in and respond back to let you know that fitting in exercise is the #1 struggle that my friends and clients have when they return to work after baby. Do the best you can with the time you can carve out. I know it can be difficult to find it!
Thanks for the well wishes for Sullie. Goldens are so sweet. <3
Wonderful news about Sullie! Thank you for letting us know, and have a lovely weekend. x
Thank you, Maya. I am so relieved!
I love the vibrancy your blog has! Kudos to you. This is my first visit and I’m impressed with both your style & presentation of solid nutritional information. Thanks – looking forward to more ^_^
Thanks so much Sunny! I hope you’ll stop by again!
The Kind bars look great, I read a few articles and the coffee sounds wonderful, but what is that deliciousness in the bowl by your coffee??
